7 seconds? I think it just stays up as long as the vehicle is on it lol
Prob means that it stands for 7 sec once there is not weight in it
Weight on open; no Weight off closes, (with slight delay for overhangs)
The AI just timed how long the gate was up and made up the 7 seconds bit. The gate would stay up for ever if you parked on it
AI generated content
Yes but after zero weight it takes 7 seconds to fall due to hydraulic pressure resistance
I think the 7 seconds he’s talking about is after your back tire leaves the mechanism. Like a door closing behind you. It doesn’t slam shut. It slowly closes.
Probably to account for a trailer tire catching up to the truck
The trailer tire would be on the pressure plate as well. The delay is so it won’t break itself
@@McQueen95_1depends on the minimum weight required to operate the gate vs the weight of the trailer.
Empty trailer may not have the mass to operate the gate with a single tire.

The hell is the point of the gate anyway? I mean it is in australia so even ANTS can open the gate with their size and weight
I was thinking that. Two cows could open it.
It's designed for use on cattle stations and in rural areas; cows don't step on those grated pieces of metal, hurts their hooves. Just a small improvement to farm life. Also useful for volunteer bushfire brigades needing access to rural properties and water sources, much easier and faster than fiddling arpund with latching mechanisms during emergencies.
Fun fact: They have these in all the dungeons in Legend of Zelda

Another fun fact. I built three of those almost twenty years ago that were cattle guards, and worked the same way. Guess my dumbass should have patented them.

"Finally now I get in and out of the ranch much more conveniently while still keeping intruders ou...oh wait..."
SOUTH AFRICA also had a similar gate.you drove on a double ramp opening twin gates..and this was in the early 1990s.
when my parents bought the property I grew up on, the original automatic gates were there from when it was a cattle ranch in the 50s. you would just drive into the gate at around 3 MPH, and the contact bar would release the latch and allow the gate to swing open. a weak spring would swing it back closed after you got through

@aryanjain7669 that is exactly what its for. I cant imagine how many times a day farmer gets out to open a gate but if you already have the gate its really a convenient expense that you wouldnt do unlss you are installing a new gate or replacing an old one thats broken. Otherwise not worth spending the money on it to replace an already working gate.
Good unless you have a trailer too light to hold it up.

Everyone saying that it only stays up if the car is on the platform… well this is apparently invented by farmers and I’m not one to doubt their ingenuity. I’m sure it’ll stay up for a bit after you drive off

But then everybody now can go in 😎👌
I would imagine that it is used between pastures. If you know anything about cattle ranching then you know that you have to rotate pastures to prevent over grazing. There is no need to lock the gates between pastures.

Most gates in the farm are built for animals. Moreover this can easily be locked in place by a wedge under the mechanism preventing it from moving with heavyweight.
Pretty innovative upgrade.
My first thought was livestock. Nice to see I got the vibe 😅

What's even better is that from the looks of it, it doesn't even need to be bolted down or attached to anything. The weight of the car acts as a counter balance for when the gate is opening so the whole thing doesn't just flip over....lol.
I’m bettin the gate stays up as long as I want.
Working in cape York years ago we had about 15 gates down the driveway and I was always thinking of a way to do that. Well done it is a great idea. 👍👍
The important thing is closing the gate automatically. The other stuff is nice to have. So in the 💩 weather, the rain and the heat you stay in the car and your stock stay in their paddock gate after gate after gate.
Getting out of the car in Australia at night is scary and dangerous
Being Aussie and living a large part of my life in the bush I’ve never seen one of these. The bloody gates I’ve opened and closed over the years this looks like a brilliant idea.
The gate stays open as long as a car is on the mechanism. Also it's useful for lifestock as the feet would just go through the pad as it isn't solid. Also it doesn't use electricity just mechanic.
I'm guessing the mechanical 7 second delay is after the car rolls off the other side of the ramp.
7 second is myth, it's open until you passed

Cows stand on it then what it’s gonna say access denied 😂
Cows won’t stand on it. Cows won’t stand on “grids”. Basically anything like parallel bars on the ground scares them. I think they’re afraid of getting a leg caught and breaking their leg. Some places that’s all that separates two paddocks is a shallow trench and sections of I-beam set 4 or 5 inches apart that acts like a bridge. Vehicles can drive over it fine but cows won’t cross it. The massive pedal here is built like a grid so cows won’t stand on it and activate it.
@@collegeatlas bullshit, cows are clever. those grates only work if the gaps are big enough for the hoof to slip in, and the cows learn through experience. cows will figure this shit out. probably only works for sheep and wallabys

It's there to prevent them from getting onto busier roads and stop them from getting ran over. It's not to prevent intruders.
These gates are very important for the safety of the animals and here in the UK gated roads are everywhere around the countryside. I'd imagine it's the same in Australia.
Just because you can't conceptualise the need for these, it does not mean they're useless.
Besides. Here in the UK and in many other countries, we have a right to roam. The general public have a right to roam in the countryside. We can enter farmers fields and many farmers have gate access points for the public to enter their property and walk paths for them.
