I went a different route. I used my standing army to move out and protect one of the trebuchet. Then let it attack for like half an hour to clear the wall. Sent in whatever pikemen left to clear trap and then swordmen afterwards to finish her off.
Steele was the one to strike the last blow, it was so scenographic!

Interesting to note that while you point out that you don't have to deal with ranged fire while in the keep, the upper landing where your swordsmen fought Seren's pikes is a good place to put crossbowmen or archers in your own defensive actions where you expect early waves to at least reach the keep. On the defensive version of the abbey I ended up setting up crossbowmen there and filling the floor with pikes.

The story doesnt make sense, lol like, why would I want to join barclay out of the blue when hes been nothing but a thorn by my side this entire time. And mathew talks about craving power as if he suddenly turned to the dark side lmao.
This game is so silly, but oh its so fun and yet so short
I actually engaged the knights whilst in barclay's camp just to make the most out of it - theres many ways to cheese the game I suppose. Like in Edwin's rescue where I was still inexperienced, I used 1 spearman to bait all the troops away whilst reaching the keep with everyone else lmfao.
Also, youre kinda wrong about double clicking to select all units. I mean youre right because you actually have to triple click for it to work 😸 (works better if the game is slowed/paused)
Tbh, I can completely understand Matthew´s decision here. The King has so far proven to be weak, and was constantly in the hiding, while William just acted like an honourable fool, constantly charging headfirst into danger, putting both of them in unimaginable dangers, and Matthew was always the one to deal with the consequences of William´s actions, and it was always up to him to somehow pull a victory out of thin air, even against the worst odds imaginable. When Matthew joins Barclay and the Hawk, he knows full well that he can´t trust them. He is simply tired of following William around like a loyal dog, constantly cleaning up after him, all in the service of until now an almost non existent King. So Matthew says fuck it, I´ll take the crown for myself, and tbh, he´s much more fit for it then Barclay, The King, or the Hawk.

This game would be better if it would be a mix of Stronghold kingdomes and Kingodme Empires, cause you would be abale to make a castle and build it your own and also upgrading it trough time and you would be abale to get raided while offline.
