Why Caleb Williams is to blame if he is a bust, is D-Lo's recent success due to LeBron? | THE HERD

  • The 2024 NFL Draft is just over a month away and with Justin Fields now in Pittsburgh, all eyes are on Caleb Williams in Chicago (likely). The Bears have added more pieces, including Keenan Allen and potentially an o-lineman or wide receiver with the No. 9 pick. Colin Cowherd breaks down why despite Chicago's past lack of offensive success, Williams' potential falls on his shoulders this time. In the NBA, the Los Angeles Lakers defeat the Atlanta Hawks 136-105, thanks to D'Angelo Russell's 27-point, 10-assist game. Colin reacts to D-Lo's recent success and explains why LeBron James deserves some credit for it.

The Bears have "...never had great receivers...". I think Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffrey would qualify as really good if not great for the limited time they played together in Chicago. Jeffrey averaged 1,045 yards per game from 2013 - 2016 and Marshall averaged 1,174 from 2012 - 2014. If you add Bennett at TE who averaged about 840 yards per per game from 2013 - 2014, they had a very formidable receiving crew.

Lebalco has never had confidence in his jumper it's why he shoots like 35 percent for his career outside of 5 feet from the basket . Dlo has had a bigger impact on the lakers this year then lejuice even the lakers commentators say as Dlo goes the lakers go just go watch the games lebalco is not the reason Dlo is balling its not because he got him benched eather it's because he wanted him traded and Dlo played so good they couldn't but of course it's lebalds credit

If you actually go and watch the games in Seattle you can see the in creative play calls. He’s not that good. It’s why McVay let him go to the Seahawks without even trying to retain him.

We need to start questioning ADs defense though if we are being honest. He struggles so bad defensively against Sabonis and Jokic. Everyone else he has the advantage and the Lakers have a chance to win if that’s the case. But whenever these two come into town he turns into a liability and it’s already a forgone conclusion that they will lose. I swear Jaxson Hayes and Vando (prior to injury) plays better against these two because they have relentless motors and play a little wild on defense which can be a good thing in confusing or disrupting an offense as long as it’s not reckless. AD doesn’t have that. He relies so heavily on his height and long arms but Sabonis and Jokic need physicality and agility to minimize their impact on offense… Don’t get me wrong you’re not stopping either one of these two but it’s no coincidence that they have their best offensive games when they play the Lakers. Automatic triple doubles.

No Colin, lebron doesn’t get the credit for D-Lo. It’s called “maturation”. Kevin love had better numbers without Lebron, so did kyire, now Kyle kuzma, Ingram, KCP, should I keep going? Of course JR’s career was resurrected, lebron requires spacing, JR was good in 3p shooting and perimeter defense. Perfect “fit”.
Please let’s crush this narrative lebron raises the play of players. Numbers show the contraire otherwise. When the offense goes through d-lo the Lakers top 4 deadliest team in the NBA. He’s benching wasn’t lebron, he was benched bc he’s play SUBPAR, he felt he was the most pure scorer on the team and was not given the green, scoring only through second change and transition. It was not dlo but the lakers that found out they couldn’t win with him on the bench. Look at the first half offensive play compared to now, go figure 🫡 let’s go D-Lo!
