    Hello, Christian. I start the SWE program this coming July 1st and I just stumbled upon your channel. Thanks for the insight on this and your other videos.
    Also, a very good point of looking at job listings to see what requirements are out there for what one might want to do. I have kind of done the same and have noticed that most of the companies I'd want to go into use Java so I'll more than likely lean that way.

    I'm currently working as a developer, and I am very interested in getting my bachelors from wgu. I been a developer for 10 months my only education is high school and a coding bootcamp, I'm really interested on getting my bachelors through WGU. I would definitely choose C# since that is the language we use at work. I think it would give me better understanding of it and a the same time would make it a bit easier since I will not have to worry about learning new syntax.

    I'm currently in the updated SWE program and I went with Java. I came into the program with no coding experience, what would you recommend for getting better with coding in Java.

      I regularly practice Java using a website named Exercism, which has proven to be greatly beneficial. I recommend using it alongside practicing Java program writing. To effectively learn project creation in Java, numerous walkthroughs and tutorials available online can be of great assistance. I hope this guidance proves useful. Feel free to ask if you have any more questions.

    I’m torn on which I should go for, I want to do web dev mainly, and don’t have a company in mind. I already know C# from a previous university, they used it there. But I’m not aiming to only do windows. Also I know the jvm is a big thing to know due to Kotlin as well, and I rather like the Kotlin language. Idk.

      I wouldn't overthink it. You will have similar outcomes with either path. The key of learning how to code is not the language syntax but rather the concepts of OOP and DSA. Once you master those, you can learn any language relatively easily.

    For Java in your personal opinion which is the best IDE or text editor? Visual Studio is a pain to get Java to run I think you have to download a JDK which is a pain to do. I think there is IntelliJ which is in some way better than Eclipse. Any recommendations? Thanks Christian.

      I would recommend using Intellij. That is my personal favorite IDE. If you are struggling setting it up, I would recommend using ChatGPT to give you customized instructions. Good luck!

    Hey Christian!
    If my pre-requisite's Do not meet their expectations, Can I study generals with WGU to gain entrance into their software-engineer BS program?
    Thank you for any help!

      I don't believe there are that many prerequisites to enrollment at WGU. I think you just have to have a high school diploma and a google it support certification from Coursera.

    How do you feel about C# having two 6 credit courses

    • @codingwithchristian
      @codingwithchristian  7 месяцев назад

      Sorry, but I don't really understand your question. What do you mean by how do I feel? I guess indifferent? There is either a Java or C# option and both are fine choices. At the end of the day, it's more about what you do with the language than the language itself. Learning to make cohesive programs and OOP principles is going to be the skill that pays off. Knowing the ins and outs of a language is definitely a plus but not 100% necessary to be a SWE.

      @@codingwithchristian The C# track has two courses that are worth 6 credits, so maybe hes asking if those courses are actually worth the 6 credits or are they more or less difficult than those courses with 3/4 credits.

      C# was influenced by C++ which was influenced by C and Java. Both C# and Java are pretty similar in terms of syntax.
