I saw a fly-over of the Warkworth section of the northern MW extension the other day , very good progress there and by rat cunning NZTA have never paid for improvements to Hill street and cunningly got Auckland Council to pay for the Matakana link road. . While these gold plated road are under construction the state highway network is turning to shit, I went down to New Plymouth two weeks ago - SH3 is in shocking condition as are many other highways, rough as hell , the result of years of cut backs on maintenance and a very wet winter, never had to drive a highway in the past 51 years when I’ve had to be on the constant lookout for pot holes, already smashed one steel rim, thanks NZTA . 🙁
Thank you for the update gutted the road will not be open by Christmas, feel sorry for people who will be stuck in the horrible traffic and also feel trapped in Ōtaki.
It's possible that they might work really hard and get it finished, I am optimistic. It really does look like it just needs lines painted and the wire rope barriers installed. Wire rope barriers look quite quick. I am not sure how many km of sockets for the poles they can install per day.
Great Video Darryl, I suspect after the Paraparaumu Expressway and the Transmission gully experience they will make sure it's well and truely 110% right before they release it for the public! I have been part of the traffic mgmt team for a 1.2 km new road behind Levin, perfection is more important than finishing! on that job!
Damn I'm driving from Dunedin to Auckland in around a week. I was hoping PP2O would be finished by the time I go up. I'm excited to see Transmission Gully and the completed Waikato expressway for the first time though.
Check the traffic, if it is bad just north of Waikanae, take the Raumati exit and go up the old SH1 past Paraparaumu and Waikanae. Some holidays that will save you 10 minutes or an hour if it is really bad.
On the holiday weekends, about 20 minutes to an hour. The rest of the time probably about three minutes. But that is three minutes for thousands of people. But the road should also be safer.

Smashed a steel rim, that's rough.
Uh that was me at the road to New Plymouth bout a month ago, was waiting for 45 minutes across Mt Messenger lol
2.5 hours last night paraparaumu to pekapeka. Woohoo!
That's horrible, It pays to take the Raumati or Kapiti Road exit and drive up the old SH1.

It feels like they have been building a round about on Arapaepae road for five years.

Great view do you know how much time it will save ?

Awesome, hopefully to speed up the Levin Bypass Expressway project, safer the better :)
Fingers crossed! Yeah, that one has been in the planning stage, a couple years longer than I thought it would be.
