They believe the apparent meanings of the Qur'an and Sunnah is kufr. They believe the Prophet ﷺ withheld the correct understanding (asharism according to them) from the laity. So according to them, the Prophet ﷺ failed in his mission of conveying the reality of Islam. This is a major lie attributed to the Prophet ﷺ and is kufr.

It is indeed a bidah and kufr however we have to be careful when labeling ppl as kafir
