Burgoo is pronounced like Burr-gew in Kentucky lol but yes it's amazing and if you want the best you'll have to come in the fall to the Anderson County burgoo festival and try all the different kinds.
Thank God someone said it 😂😂 Kentuckian here and I just held my head in my hands Lmfaoo at how he said it 😂😂😂🤦♀️ Yup I miss going to the burgoo festival!
Took my parents and aunt to the Brown Hotel for a Kentucky Hot Brown then to a Lousiville Bats game. Nice thing about AAA baseball is that I could buy tickets behind home plate quite reasonably.
Winchester, KY native here born and raised. Don’t forget the biscuits&gravy. This is the south no midwestern here, maybe Louisville and N. KY, but not here.Y’all are welcome anytime.
I would add one more item to this list: Ruth Hunt's cream candy! It's a pulled candy, but it's not chewy like taffy. Instead, it's crumbly and just melts in your mouth. Ruth Hunt's is the closest version to the cream candy my grandmother used to make. If you're still in Kentucky, make sure to try some! If not, they do ship it as well. I always get a batch every Christmas, along with their caramels. :) (Some people like Blue Mondays, which are basically chocolate-covered cream candy, but I think the chocolate overpowers the delicate flavor and prefer it plain.)
Don’t forget, Kentucky isn’t just the bluegrass it is also the mountains and the Appalachian people, so be sure and get a more broad taste of Kentucky when you come back
Eastern Kentucky is the most beautiful part of the state, I'm from pike county and live in Frankfort now. Nothing like those beautiful eastern Kentucky mountains and hills.
There soo many good hidden gem type of restaurants in Kentucky. Have to stop by the market and grab some beer cheese, which was invented in Winchester, KY. And an Ale8. If in Lexington Jeff Ruby's, Malones, Tony's are 3 of the best restaurants ive ate at, but there are many more, halls on the river is a good spot for some good southern food.
Only place to get good mutton! While I like Moonlite, especially the sides and desserts, my favorite bbq comes from Old Hickory. The locals tell me, "Moonlite is for tourists. Old Hickory is where the locals go."
I will have to try some of the Muttin BBQ when I am in Kentucky again. Ahhhhh, the candy and pies look amazing. The Lexington area and the Ocala area have the same qualities in water because of the limestone.. Both regions are know for horses as well. Thanks for sharing.
Nice to hear Louisville rightly pronounced as Loo'-vull and not "looey-vill". Right on. This has me craving a hot brown. As a kid my grandparents would take me to Winchell's in Lexington, and whether their hot brown mirrors the Brown Hotel's, I don't know, but it was damn good.
Any chance you could tell me where the plate was from with the deviled eggs and green beans on it? The china appears to match my great grandma's china set.
What were the names of your favorite restaurant? Or are the foods you mentioned good at most restaurants? The food looks so good, but like to know which restaurants to get it at. This will be our first visit. Thank you
I'm watching this late so I'm pretty sure you'll never see my comment. But I have to say that my family comes from Kentucky and we have never had most of these dishes. We need a "what to eat in Eastern Kentucky" video! Totally different vibe.
Yeah, I grew up in Louisville, but my mom's family is from Eastern Kentucky. Most of this food is Louisville food, which is great, but it's not what is eaten in the mountains.
I'm from Kentucky I can't stand Bourbon and I hate mint juleps. And I've never been to the derby and I don't want to. I'm from Kentucky and I've never had burgo, the fried green tomatoes are the best, no catfish for me, they are bottom feeders, and you can taste it. Candies with alcohol, that's a no for me, I don't even like bourbon balls, switch my family makes at Christmas.nope! And I was born in Kentucky in 1975. Derby pie is delicious!
Lifelong kentuckian. We do not eat 90% of this food. I love beer cheese, but whatever that was looked disgusting and would not be served with pretzels.

The word Burgoo is so simple to sound out. Bur--Goo. He was saying Bur--Go! Goo!
Yes, it's "bur-GOO."
Anderson Country Burgoo Festival! It’s awesome!

South and eastern Kentucky is the best, old home cooked meals in hole in the wall and mom n pop restaurants can't be beat.
@@KevinTkt14 Eastern Kentuckian here ❤ Yup we definitely have some great southern food here ❤😊 Comfort food is always a must ❤
Where did "Lexington bbq" come from?

Great addition, thanks for the suggestion!

Why, oh why do I keep watching these kind of videos when it's so close to dinner time? :) Everything looks so tasty and good!!!
it was tasty :)
Think of it as inspiration for dinner. Or maybe for tomorrow's dinner?

Owensboro in western Kentucky is the place to go for the barbecue.
Only place to get good mutton!

Kentucky isn't just the Bourbon Trail there are a lot of other places to see and things to eat that are simply fantastic spread all over state.
What restaurant sells burgoo?

I think y'all will have a great time. KY is a lovely state and, obviously the food is tasty. 😉

Maybe it's the water that breeds great horese 🤔
@@WoltersWorldEats I do believe so.

Go to Murray and try Victor's, Dairy Queen, and Pagliali's!
Moonpies , cobbler, pulled pork sandwich, pinto beans, country-fried ham and much more!!!!😂
Any chance you could tell me where the plate was from with the deviled eggs and green beans on it? The china appears to match my great grandma's china set.
I'll see what I can do. I know what it's like hunting down odd pieces. Have you tried replacements.com?
So, that pic was from my friend's house. She thinks the pattern is called Anniversary, by a co called Fire King. Hope that helps!

It's true that there is really good Cuban food in Louisville. Don't know why, but there is.
I'm watching this late so I'm pretty sure you'll never see my comment. But I have to say that my family comes from Kentucky and we have never had most of these dishes. We need a "what to eat in Eastern Kentucky" video! Totally different vibe.

A hot brown is something you have twice and goes in one way and out the other.
Omg. That’s crazy
I do have to agree as a kentucky resident the water is delicious better than most in fact it's even healthier
I was judging water everywhere. It really does explain the bourbon.
Check out Louie’s on poplar level road!!!
Shoulder sandwich Tville style
The Hot Brown 💙
it is sooooo good!
Right?!
You're mispronouncing Burgoo... Its pronounced... burr, like you're cold, and goo, like slimy goo.
thanks tim! no one corrected me when i ordered it, so thank you for pointing it out to me!
@@WoltersWorldShorts No worries, and welcome to Loo Ah Vul! :-)
Can't compare to the hot brown at mammy's kitchen in bardstown
They say better bring water bottle to avoid Lead
I will say one food that we have a lot here is cornbread.
Where’s the catfish from?
It's called "Burr Goo". Like "Brrr, I'm cold" and "this glue is gooey".
You totally overlooked Country Ham (Salt or Sugar cured)
Actually, I prefer my Bourbon neat or on the rocks. No cocktails.
Bourbon in all forms is good in my book 😀
@@WoltersWorldEats I guess I can't argue with that!
Where is this BBQ we are supposed to be known for? Horses. Basketball. Bourbon.
Owensboro
90%? 100% of bourbon should come from Kentucky.

Obisity fly high in kentucky jiji
You’d be surprised lol. Us Kentuckians believe it or not come in all shapes and sizes 😂🤦♀️
What to eat in Kentucky? Stay clear from the squirrel.
It’s burGOO! Not burGO
