Colorized using DeOldify [AI Machine Learning] [IMPRESSIVE RESULTS]
DeOldify is an AI Neural Network software that is capable of colorizing black and white images using thousands of pictures as references.
I took the original video file from the Fallout 4 PC disk, and used DeOldify with the Video training model to restore the
color from the FMV.
This is my second attempt at colorizing this video, and the results are much more natural-looking and stable.

'nearly limitless source of power' fusion core in power armor=30 mins
That’s a balancing measure for the power armor.
Consider the timescale as well. 30 game minutes could be around 200 “real” minutes.
@@badbeardbill9956 If you consider the timescale, the one generally used in Bethesda games is 20, which means that for every three seconds where you aren't in an interior, a minute passes for the in game clock. Half an hour for us would be ten hours in the game world, which is a surprising idle time, but pretty laughable for military equipment. Especially when by the lore, these things should last years... not that the old canonical pieces matter much.
tbf fusion cores are pretty damn small and likely last much longer than any other power source of that size
Not to mention they are 200 years old and may have powered other things before being placed in the armor
@@allenguevarra8203 Yeah. The canon says the fusion power sources for old power armor still works after 2 centuries. I don't think Fallout 4 should be taken as a retcon since it seems that it was done mostly for gameplay reasons.
Perhaps the cores in the Commonwealth have all been damaged somehow?
@@badbeardbill9956 I suppose you can treat the scenario as the cores being heavily used, maybe second hand or more, passed down over the years and given poor maintenance, especially because somehow they managed to fall into the hands of bloody raiders. Actually, that point there was baffling, because how the hell do raiders of all people have access to power armor and operate it? The NCR couldn't do it and had to salvage the servos (leaving glorified metal armor), and these are the people who brought industry back to the wasteland. The only factions that make sense in wearing the armour are the BoS and Enclave, but I digress. Perhaps by falling into much less qualified hands, and extensive combat use, the lifespan of the cores was probably horribly degraded.

*Fusion Cores:*
there is no possible way bethesda can explain fusion cores being shitty power systems.
I mean what about the other fusion cores you find by bartering that were most likely scavenged from old military bases that have not yet been used
It was made for the balance sake. The canon is what fusion cores on which power armor works can work for nearly hundred years (it's even said in the power armor description in Fallout 1 and 2). Only earliest exemplars of power armor, like first ever T-45, was working like it shown in F4. Actually I think what F4 fusion cores system is stupid. Like, you can just give power armor NOT in the first 5 hours of the game and make it late-game loot with no need to be always powered by batteries. I think it's a good idea, cuz it's a tradition in every game, and you don't need to break canon and balance of the game
@LOAN NGUYEN explain fallout 76 then lol
I think it was more about the amount of things fusion core can power, rather than how long it lasts.

As fossil fuels ran out, middle eastern nations began bombing eachother, and as we simply watched, as the Russians invaded Central Asia, and Ukraine for the 2nd time, we knew this had started a new era of conflict, and as China increasingly turned more and more powerful, with each passing day, I fear for my family, my friends, and the future of humanity, and as China invaded US Allies in Asia, we simply watched, as we saw it all unfold from our television screens, as Chinese troops and North Korean soldiers, bombed Seoul, and invaded South Korea, just weeks after the Chinese invaded Taiwan, the United States, Japan, and NATO, put sanctions on China. As the UN Security Council broke down, and the UN seemed to have the possibility of breaking out into civil war in just a matter of weeks, we knew, that war was inevitable, and that China will not back down. Today, the Chinese captured Indonesia after brutal fighting, and as our Australian ally is fighting against the dragon’s fangs, we know that war has come. As Mongolia was split between China and Russia, we simply watched, another one down. Another pawn added to the chess board. In a way, it still kinda fits the FO Universe. Just imagine them having found out how to make colorized TV.
I actually like the flickering effect, and haziness of the footage. It reminds of the World War 2 colour footage we usually see in documentaries. In fact, despite being supposedly "DeOldified", it actually looks even older than the default cinematic. The default cinematic, while it was in black and white, was too crisp, too clean, and high definition. It was blatantly obvious that they shot it with modern film equipment, and simply applied a filter over it.
Like technicolor as it started mass adoption
More than sure, only "modern film equipment" they used was 3d software...
Tell that to Princess Leia
This almost feels like they added that Ntsc CRT effect that you get from those televison sets from the 90s. Truly old stuff. Me likee.
They probably didn't even add a filter, just removed all of the saturation
2:46 i really think this scene is absolutely improved by the recolor.
And the one with the Chinese paratroopers, Honestly with colors added i noticed a lot more than the original. Noticed more races for sure.

Absolutely

Eh, the constant seizure on the machine’s part for what general colour warmth & shading to choose for the next second killed it a bit for me; it was confusing
I just noticed the detail at the end, only one squad member is wearing power armor. That actually makes a lot of sense, similar to how most squads have one machine gunner and I don’t think power armor would be something just everyone wears
I think they would still have entirely Power armored Cavalry units that do shock and awe assaults.
It makes sense to distribute a few suits into mixed units though, what would traditionally be a crew served weapon is now portable.
I think it's mostly due to the massive shortage of every major resource. If they were well-supplied, I think they'd be able to have squads of power-knights just wandering around.

Well it shows a world that lost control of its nuclear ambition. They focused on other things- mundane wonders to us like the internet and civil rights never got the chance in the FO reality. There, incredibly powerful machines were invented from the necessity born of constant warfare. Luxuries that come from a society resting on its laurels never occurred there, war is the basis for every invention in Fallout. Even the snack foods, computers, and servant robots reek of technology originally designed for combat. The reason you can still eat a Fancy Lad twinkie 100 years after it was made? It was designed to outlast nuclear holocaust. No internet? Not a problem- nobody ever had internet, only private networks between select terminals. The way we focus globally on consumer electronics, is how the governments of the FO reality focused almost entirely on the impending war for resources. We have tomorrow and the next day, hell we have all next week even. They looked at it like they were lucky to get the next 10 minutes without getting annihilated. I mean gees, the very same Mr. Handy that you trusted to attend to your child’s basic needs is equipped with thick armor plating, a FLAMETHROWER, and a retractable CIRCULAR SAW. You’re darn right they invented computers that could think (often by dissecting human minds to see how they could be replicated with circuits) because they engaged in horrifying experiments that cruelly fused crude cybernetic life with the routine slavery of the thoughtless computer. Yet, you still had to snail mail your mother Polaroids across the country. I think the timeline of technology makes sense when you realize that Fallout represents humanities worst potential for creation, that of the cornered animal.
@@maaingan nah dude, color pictures are as old as photography itself,
the problem was fixing the colors in place. they would chemically wash out until the mid 1930's kodak discovery. (yeah, you could get agfa and kodak tripack films in 1936, but printing these properly became only possible in 1941, and it was expensive tech)
and war DID impact photography; some of the best lens improvements were done during ww1 and ww2 for spy and recon aircrafts, sniper rifles and so on. having colors helps distinction and ultimately accuracy.

IBasic Gaming There is a lot of truth to what is sold to us through electronic media. The plans have been laid out for hundreds of years in advance. The question is not whether this will happen, rather, it is WHEN. And the way this world is today, it seems that WW3 is a current-century fate that this generation will live to endure. Whilst I love this opening, I much prefer Fallout 3, just a slightly busted up radio playing calming music, peaceful like people thought the old world was, as the camera slowly backs out to show the enviroment around the radio, showing the destruction that war has brought into the world, and as you move away that calming old world music slowly dissipates, you are left wondering what is happening now in this world, until you see the man in power armour ready for war, ready to make the same mistakes as the old world. I dunno I like the subtlety and 'show don't tell' of Fallout 3 over Fallout 4's male protagonist explaining the obvious that is shown. Mind you I'm not discounting Fallout 4's opening I think it leaves just as powerful a message, if not moreso then 3, it just comes down to preference really.

I appreciate the epilepsy warning. I see warnings in movies and video games and such, but very rarely do I see them in homemade videos posted on RUclips.
Yes, I'm an epileptic, but was able to watch your video without problems. I do appreciate the warning though as I do take them seriously. Seizures are no fun, and is probably what kills me in the end, as I only take my medication when I know I'm going to drive, go out to movies, play a first person shooter for the first time, ect. So, two to three times a year I do get surprised by a blackout or seizure due to light strobing, although they do have to strobe in near the perfect sequence as brain activity to cause it.

While the welder hums over his shoulder, patching holes in his armor, though he's hurt, he thinks about round two. He's ready to get back to it and show them who's boss.

@@TehDenizenz Metro is by far my favorite post apocalypse setting and game series. I didn't care for most of Metro Exodus, though.
