These are great tips! I don't shop HL much but I might have to start checking them out. I have shopped the sales at Michaels and picked up some great deals on some items.
@@ecbrent2 They can get in trouble with corporate for that. Pricing and signing are legal issues. More than likely what happened was she went in on a Saturday and people were doing clearance markdowns which is not putting things on sale. Markdowns/clearance is a permanent price reduction on items a store is no longer carrying, intended to clear it out to make way for new merchandise. People very often confuse the two. But being the office manager at my store, I have to be very familiar with the audit guidelines sent out by corporate and on every audit, they pull security camera footage to make sure you are not pulling or setting signs before closing on Saturday.
As an employee of Hobby Lobby I have to say that the price adjustment is such a pain as a cashier. I do love that your showing people how to read the tags!
Yes, I've worked retail most of my life. It's insanity that they make people bring everything back! If they had proper cash registers, that show the exact item and price people buy things for, it'd be easy to just scan the receipt and give the difference back to the customer. However, that would mean less money in their Christian corporate pockets! It's such a sketchy system!
Girl! You learned my tricks! I wait until art goes on sale for 75%-90% off. I paint over them with Gesso and then I have a clean canvas to paint on! I also paint on their wood art as well. I never pay full price at HL!
@@debidiaz6569 No that's something even us artists do w/our own paintings from time to time. Especially if we've gotten tired of a particular painting we painted a while ago or there's one we didn't care for as much & some of us couldn't get out during quarantine in 20 so we did that to be able to continue painting.

I happened to be visiting my grandkids in California when the Spring shop went on 90% Off! I went crazy! I spent $150+ and that was the 90% off sale! I was driving and had to buy bins to pack the stuff in to drive back to NC! I loaded up on the cutting boards and a lot of wooden, metal and glass items that I would have never been able to afford. Fun, fun, fun!! I'm set forever :)

A couple of additional tips- if you have multiple HL in your area check out the slower store when the 90% off clearance hits. Also one section you missed that I recently found is their kids crafts - great for the Sunday school teacher etc. - larger qtys of wood blanks in a package and they go half off too. So need wood crosses - check that section for pkgs of 6-8 for $2-3. Another tech tip if you sign up for their emails when you stop seeing the 75% off clearance mentioned that's when they go 90% and time to hit the store! Happy treasure hunting! Blessings!

Being a quilter, fabric of course, but love glass, wood, anything textury, baskets and wovens, and more! Also check the dollhouse mini area for sweet tiered tray items.
I love Hobby Lobby. It is my favorite craft store. I live in a small town and we are getting one in August! Yay! I also appreciate that they are not open on Sundays. My favorite items are the faux florals, as I make wreaths and they are half-price every other week.

I have looked everywhere for cutting boards and the ones you showed are perfect for what I want. Have not seen them at my Hobby lobby but will look next time I'm in there. I buy the wood pieces, crosses, horses and I never seem to find them on sale. I paint and resin them and sell them so I need a deal. Thank you for sharing! Also I like Michaels and their Artist loft acrylic paints and sometimes find them on sale, so if you do a thing on Michaels I will definitely watch that!!! Have a great day!!!
Used to be, not so sure stores still do it, but if you buy in bulk you can ask to speak to the store manager and see if they can give you a better price on your over all purchase. Some stores give senior discounts or discounts based on if you are affiliated/part of a club like AARP-AAA- AMAC and others. They do not just tell you they give discounts you usually have to ask. Many things have changed and it may be it is no longer practiced on asking for a discount on a bulk purchase, but some of the others listed should still be in effect. Another way is if you have friends or family and you go to a store and all buy, you can ask on the group getting a better price. Some may offer something off. Can't think of the name they call this type of discounting. Do ask before starting your shopping so time is not wasted and hopes of an even better deal is thearted. But you'll never know if you do not ask the question. Hope some part of this is helpful to you. Best of luck!
Woodpile and paper crafting sections are my most favorite, but of course the seasonal home decor is a very close second. Last year a got an 80$ dough bowl, solid wood, beautiful, for only 20$!! Pottery is also a favorite of mine. I just wish I didn't have to travel over 60 miles (rural life is the best though) to get to a Hob Lob, but when I go I make sure I check out every aisle because you never know what you might find. xx

Thank you Janine, we’re about 45 minutes from there and were in Wisconsin yesterday. So we are all safe. Chicago has seen a ton of shootings this summer and this is also so incredibly sad, especially hearing that a 2-year-old little boy lost both his parents in Highland Park. Having a little that age makes that one break my heart on a different level. I can’t even imagine. Illinois is truly hurting and I appreciate your note. ♥️
I love hobby lobby and I can be there all day looking at the entire store. I did learn something new…I just got randomly and never really know when stuff goes on sale until it’s 90 and almost gone.
I really appreciate the information! I would never have thought about buying for fall or Christmas in the middle of summer 😮 I really really love all of the wooden blanks and the glass bottles. I really want to get some of the wooden rolling pins and some blank beads and even colorful one!! That area of the store is where I get lost and my dad has to direct me away from 😂😂 I have always gotten my floral and ribbons at Dollar Tree but seeing the amazing selection there……wow! I don’t think I have ever made it to that end of the store because I have to basically choose one section of the store. I have crushed discs in my back as well as Levo-Scoliosis which means my back rooms straight but it actually has a c shaped bend to the left. These things have me using a wheelchair outside of the house. But when trying to shop using my wheelchair is quite hard because I can’t really get much. I wish Hobby Lobby would become more accessible because they would make even more if people who are like me would a chance to really enjoy their store. Not having things like a riding cart is a big bummer. It’s a typical problem in most craft stores and makes me very sad! Thank you for the tips on savings!! 🌟❤️🌟
Also their baking & candy making supplies & for painter's out there like me, their canvases are very well priced everyday & there's always a sale of 50% off the Master's Touch paints, & brushes, etc. I absolutely LOVE Hobby Lobby, & I always make a B-line straight for their clearance sale items that you mentioned that's in the back of the store. I've gotten some phenomenal buys from that section.

I found a piece I used on a chain I already had and it became my daily necklace . They also hv nice things for kids to do at Xmas ie: ornament kits , stockings .

The metal & wood section is my favorite. I really only buy things that are on sale unless it's an emergency. If you download their app you can scan items to make sure it's on sale. I was there last week & they were unpacking the fall/Thanksgiving items. I love the His & Her section when it's on sale - they have some beautiful flowers there. Thanks for the information.

Seasonal plates, napkins at half off is usually a good deal. Garland-regular or wedding, great at half off. For most seasonal-once it’s hine, it is gone so if you really like it, get it at the 40-50% off. Lots of fun stuff in there.

I live in a small town and we have to drive a couple hrs. to go to Hobby Lobby or any other big stores. So , I have never been to one. Thank you for sharing. Not everything goes on sale at hobby lobby. In the floral section, there are green tag items that never goes on sale, there is also the “our price” items that never go on sale. But l to check the ads. 👍🏽👍🏽
I also love shopping at Hobby Lobby. I am like you, unless I can’t live without it I will wait until it goes on sale. My favorite department is probably the unfinished wood section but I also love the clearance section and have gotten amazing items to diy for not much that is so much better than DT. Not bashing DT because I go there a lot, but I usually have to put two signs together to make them sturdier! TYFS Whitney!
Hi Whitney, I really like the blanks, mainly the wood blanks for clocks and placemats, etc, and II love the range ofwooden cutting/server boards. But then theres so much more that I want to do. I live in Regional/rural Australia and don't have access to Hobby Lobby, but I'm also sure we don't have any stores with supplies like US has.
If you are looking for the ready made jewelry, look at the registers on those fixtures. There is some back in jewelry making, but most of the finished pieces are at the front.
Also on seasonal, the first week of 50% off is the best time for the best combination of price and selection. Most of it is not going to come back in so go in that week and get what you absolutely have to have.

HL marks down items for Monday on Saturday. So if you go in an hour or so before closing you get Mondays sale price on Saturday! 😉

I HAVE ENOUGH SUPPLIES TO KEEP GOING AT THE MOMENT , BUT AM KEEN TO GET A FEW LITTLE ODD BITS , BUT MAKING WHAT I NEED IS EASIER THAN GOING TO THE SHOPPE'S AT THE MOMENT.
The metal & wood section is my favorite. I really only buy things that are on sale unless it's an emergency. If you download their app you can scan items to make sure it's on sale.
I was there last week & they were unpacking the fall/Thanksgiving items.
I love the His & Her section when it's on sale - they have some beautiful flowers there.

One place I loooove to craft shop at is Joann's. They have the best coupons and I can stack them So I always save so much when I shop there.

My favorite thing in hobby lobby is the wood
Seasonal plates, napkins at half off is usually a good deal. Garland-regular or wedding, great at half off. For most seasonal-once it’s hine, it is gone so if you really like it, get it at the 40-50% off. Lots of fun stuff in there.
Michaels would be a good one to add to the series and Joanne's, maybe even at home, they have some florals and pieces to add to crafts

I live in a small town and we have to drive a couple hrs. to go to Hobby Lobby or any other big stores. So , I have never been to one. They do have nice stuff and hopefully I get a change to shop at one of these stores. When u live in the country u fine yourself not liking the traffic in the big city. By the way U look so pretty... I bought a lantern that is vintage style, and a beautiful flower Garland and greenery for my work room (I'm an Esthetician) I changed my room style to be like someone's relaxation bedroom, and I'm getting so many compliments from clients, and after their treatments they don't want to leave!😉

Thank you for sharing. Not everything goes on sale at hobby lobby. In the floral section, there are green tag items that never goes on sale, there is also the “our price” items that never go on sale. But l to check the ads. 👍🏽👍🏽

I also love shopping at Hobby Lobby. I am like you, unless I can’t live without it I will wait until it goes on sale. My favorite department is probably the unfinished wood section but I also love the clearance section and have gotten amazing items to diy for not much that is so much better than DT. Not bashing DT because I go there a lot, but I usually have to put two signs together to make them sturdier! TYFS Whitney!

Hi Whitney, I really like the blanks, mainly the wood blanks for clocks and placemats, etc, and II love the range ofwooden cutting/server boards. But then theres so much more that I want to do. I live in Regional/rural Australia and don't have access to Hobby Lobby, but I'm also sure we don't have any stores with supplies like US has.

If you are looking for the ready made jewelry, look at the registers on those fixtures. There is some back in jewelry making, but most of the finished pieces are at the front.
Also on seasonal, the first week of 50% off is the best time for the best combination of price and selection. Most of it is not going to come back in so go in that week and get what you absolutely have to have.
