I personally knew a Polish guy who fought in the war as a pilot. I'm that old! He was a pretty interesting guy, but drank far too much, sadly. We lost him too soon.
When men were real men, women were real women and real nahtzees were nervous....The debt we owe those fine people can never be repaid. God save England and the Commonwealth.
And a lot of them were young - 19, 20. Shows what young people can do, if given the training and opportunity. Who'd give such a young man that much responsibility these days?

I do actually know a few good parents that teach right from wrong and responsibility but its far too rare.I think it started when parents became afraid to discipline their children in Canada after the Liberals outlawed spanking in the early 90s. After that "helicopter parents/teachers" became a thing. People that swept all conflict out of their children's lives and told them they are all special when they actually were not. Then when they get out in the real world and find its not as they have been told by parents and teachers, they act like sh**heads. We need goals and strife to push ourselves forward as humans and they forgot that, encouraged by our governments and laws. We got soft and the kids pay the price for it. I also believe the worst is yet to come sadly.
More of our great culture brother let us be seen to be meeting the threat once again without flinching and without fear. God save our most gracious Majesty.
Funny thing, all the German planes in BoB had Rolls Royce engines because they used the spanish versions of them, which at the time were still in military service. Spain was not free, hence He111s being contemporary to Harrier jump jets
The DVD has a "making of" documentary, which is well worth watching. Imagine the headache of trying to choreograph aerial combats on such a scale. edit; typo

Hikari... they were originals indeed. Also, the destruction of the huge aircraft hangar in the movie is real, too. That took place at the old WW2 RAF base, Duxford, which is now an excellent part of the Imperial War Museum. Their emphasis there is on actually keeping the aircraft and combat vehicles up and running. Sad really, to have totally splattered an original period hangar to kingdom come. Crazy thing is, it'd be really useful for the museum now, as their superb collection is constantly expanding and all undercover workshop and exhibition space is worth it weight in gold.
@@cuhurun I've been to Duxford. I had a free day to go to Cambridge and I thought I'd just stop at Duxford to check it out. Ended up spending most of the day there and barely seeing anything in Cambridge. :D Same thing when I "just stopped" at Gatow (air museum near Berlin) on my way to Potsdam. Arrived at Potsdam when it was already dusk. *grin*
Good edit, and a nice collection of movies. When you remember they were basically all happening at the same time it helps to pull history into perspective. Yes, yes, they are movies and some parts are dramatised, but come on, we should expect, nay, insist on that in a well done story.

And rampant groups of traffikers it sounds taking british girls and groom them. for me you do seem to be in a dark place currently on that side.
I find this semi war worship quite troubling. I used to very much be of the opinion that we had to fight both world wars, now I question; was it all worth it? To me, no, it wasn’t. I think I can safely say that if you could show the fighting men of either war the events of last year they wouldn’t have fought for Britain to see us become what we have, I think the majority of them would be damn ashamed.

However, I try to think not with 2021 hindsight where we know of the Holocaust and the realities of Nazi oppression but rather from a point of view in 1940. If you are a senior government minister of the day, how can you justify the consequences of the next five years, let alone the following decades? I think it naive to suggest that the common Brit of the day would have, in some cases, paid the ultimate sacrifice for transgender rights, the abolition of the death penalty and mass immigration of peoples who share no common culture with them. That is to name just a few ways our society has changed. Our decline as a nation started when we decided to fight the First World War and was cemented when we fought on after Dunkirk, (in which my great grandmothers husband was killed) the old “at least we aren’t speaking German” trope is getting long in the tooth and to me at least, doesn’t hold much water anymore.
If they hadn't, the Iron Curtain would have sat firmly on the Atlantic coast of Europe. The Germans lost the very moment they launched Barbarossa, the inevitable Red Army march across Europe was only stopped because there were Allies coming from the west. Who knows how much longer it would have taken the Soviets to collapse.
@@ekscalybur I don’t think that to be true, and here’s a few reasons as to why: • Germany doesn’t become entangled in a multi front war • Irreplaceable experienced Luftwaffe crew are not lost in the Battle of Britain and the blitz • Without our help, Greece falls much quicker which would eliminate any delay in starting Operation Barbarossa • The Soviets probably don’t get any lend lease materials due to the lack of the Royal Navy escorts (provided they could make that sort of deal with the US to start with) • The enigma code is never cracked early enough to do anything • Brilliant tank commanders like Rommel aren’t tied down in North Africa and instead can fight on the eastern front • Without threat of British invasion, there is no need to station 250,000 troops in Norway for the duration of the war Any of these things happening individually could change the outcome of the war quite drastically, a number of those things happening? Who knows.
