The JC Penney doll has the best top, but I miss the old Tyco seashells. And I'm not a fan of the tulle fins. There was a doll released with Flounder in like 2016-2017, and she had the best tail, I think. The fins were actual fabric and not tulle. I do wish they'd go back to making dolls with their eyes facing straight instead of to the side. For me, it's harder to photograph them if they're not looking straight ahead. The older ones looked straight ahead, but I swear their faces aren't as good as the newer ones. We need a combo platter! :D And we definitely need Disney Store to make a Melody doll. People have been wanting her for years.
I wish they would made one with a solid articulated Tail instead of a Farbric Costume one. They sould also make her Sisters each seperate. Also Meldoy (one with a solid tail and one with a fabric tail and Fashions from the Movie). A Mother Daughter Set with Ariel and Baby Melody. (maybe also with Eric to make the whole Family) So many possibilities.
The Disney Store dolls used to be $12.50 until they raised the price to $14.50 where it stayed for a while until 2013 when the highly detailed Frozen dolls came out at $16.99 each. They would stay at $16.99 until around 2019 when they lowered the price to $14.99 each which was great. Then the Pandemic happened, all Disney Stores closed down, and when they reopened them again they were suddenly $16.99 again. Then a horrible thing happened. Disney Store "went green", removed the plastic window box and made the boxes out of 100% cardboard. The new boxes don't allow you to look at the actual doll you're buying anymore. So you can't check for paint defects, wank eye or bad hair anymore. Cardboard costs more then plastic so Disney Store passed the cost along to the consumer by raising the price of each doll from $16.99 to $19.99.
I hate what they did with these new boxes. I do not take my dolls from boxes but still I can look at them from plastic window. Now, you cannot even display them because the box is totally covered and you cannot see if the doll is good quality. I still keep my Ariel classic doll and Ariel wedding doll in the box because I do not have a shelf with glass doors and if I would display them the dust and other conditions will ruin them. Disney clearly lies about protecting enviroment because they still made limited edition dolls with plastic windows.
The newer Ariel is vastly superior. The facial screening and tail are better. i don't know what they were thinking with that sequined tail. It looks so cheap and dated. That's the kind of sequined fabric that dazzled us kids in the early 90s. i like the face on the newer doll. Her eyebrows are softer and much more movie accurate. The fabric "seashell" bra needs to go.
hi, did they change the new ariel to a new skin tone or is it still the same as before and what is the best match with the new ariel in made to move barbie doll
The best for me is the new Ariel classic doll. The mermaid outfit is so much better than before and her face is really soft.
I like the first one's clothes cause they're really sparkly and the darker green tail is nice.
I like the last Ariel without articulated hands 🙌 because she is safe to play with without breaking her arms off 😊

This review was so amazing that I purchased the new Ariel from the Disney store. I love the new packaging. Her hair is SO soft.
