    The Musc Revageur in the begining it's not good and very strong but after a few minutes is transforming in a wonderful warm musck vanilla fragrance.i love it, i bought a big bottle❤

    Dear Sebastian, as you correctly mentioned, the older formulation of Musc Ravageur was horrible .. in drydown was like a pissoir from the highway toilets, I gave my sample for free. The new formulation is toned down and became so nice and gourmandy and has the right amount of Musc. They did a good job with this reformulation, I would say.

    No one mentions that Labdanum 18 registers as powdery! I went to La Labo to smell Iris hoping for powder but it smelled like white flowers. Sales associate pointed me to Labdanum 18 for powder and he’s totally right. Sweet also.

    Got samples of Musc Ravageur today, oh yess thats a Big musky scent... but my favorite part is the clove note! Somehow it blends in sooo beautifully and gives the fragrance this edge.
    Its soo potent, lasted a whole day on my skin with one spray.
    Good stuff, thanks for reviewing it!

    I 100% agree w/ this. I really wanted to like Labdanum 18 but it completely fell apart on me. Musc Ravageur is much better to the point where I was surprised to see these two together.

    Interesting debate! I have a decant of Labdanum 18, and a bottle of Musc Ravageur. I've had Musc R for a few years and the Le Labo is a more recent sample that I received as a gift w/purchase at Nordstroms. Never noticed the similarity between the two before so I'll need to test right now! I will say without a direct test comparison - I immediately knew I needed a full bottle of the Musc R after sampling it, and have no recollection of what my opinion is/was of the Labdanum 18.

    Just ordered my very first Frédéric Malle fragrance, and of course I went with Musc Ravgeur based on reputation alone. I have 3 Le Labo fragrances (Bergamot, the Noir, and Patchouli) and have been relatively disappointed by them in general. But that's just me.. if people enjoy them, more power to em. Anywho, I love your reviews, hands down my fragrance reviewer on RUclips. I have 200 now, and many of my purchases are based on your recommendation. So just wanted to say thanks for making me feel at ease about blind buying MR and thanks for all your hard work. Keep it up my friend.

    Estée Lauder are the frickin devil. Ruining every great fragrance house like Tom Ford, FM, Le Lebo and others, are all being reformulated into oblivion.
    We must stop this.. paying top dollar for the heart of these fragrances to be ripped out is just not acceptable.

    Try a $10 cheapie called Remy Latour Cigar Black Oud and wait about an hour for the dry down. Your educated shnoz might find it to be somewhat synthetic, but I'd like to hear if you fell there's similarites. Many feel it's a nice little clone of Musc Ravageur. If it is, I'd like to smell Musc Ravageur.

    I don't get any civet or castoreum in the Le Labo either. I agree that they're very similar, however I prefer the softness of the Labdanum 18 more.

    Last time I have smelled Musc Ravageur was ~2015 , and with all du respect I find it to be repulsive. Not sure if it was just me , but dirty, sweaty armpits kind of musk is overpowering the vanilla for me.
    I know some people are die hard fans , but it's not something I could wear.

  • @ToTheWind

    The reformulation of Musc Ravageur is excellent. It's much more friendly. The musk in the original was too strong. I like how they toned down the musk and gave it more gourmand qualities.
    Hard to believe but sometimes, just occasionally, a reformulation can lead to a better fragrance.

    Nope, a no-brainer for me.
    As much as I like Musc Ravageur, Labdanum 18 all the way for me. A personal "Fragrance For A Lifetime" juice.

      @Clive D Yep, me too. My "go-to" juice when I need something other than a standard "freshie" fragrance, not a standard fruity-floral either. A little old and trad, a little powdery and contemporary. Also, it works well on my skin. Enjoy!

    Thank you for doing this! My preference is Helmut Lang EdP/EdC which preceded these. But I wear Labdanum and have yet to buy MR. BTW, Estée Lauder’s Mark on both houses is unfortunate. I just had a bottle of Rose 31 refilled at Barneys SF and it is now faint, like an EdC. Very sad.

    I own the Le Labo - to me it is not that animalic. What I principally get is the Labdanum, tonka and pachouli - wonderful oriental - slight amber. Honestly, I wear it to sleep sometimes so maybe i'm missing the scene where it falls apart like gollum tumbling into lava. I think the Le Labos are hand mixed when you buy them - could an inexpert chef have missed the ratios desired for optimum Labdamonium?

    • @ThePerfumeGuy
      @ThePerfumeGuy  5 лет назад

      This was recently purchased by a EUROPEAN friend who works for Estee Lauder. So it came from the source. It smells great. I bought it earlier this year but I think I bought in September come to think of it! :)

    • @RB-md2zi
      @RB-md2zi 5 лет назад +2

      I think estes Lauder has set an agenda to reformulate the main notes to make more volume thus more money and hence a less performing juice. Since all the top money has been made these companies are now milking the consumers . The best bet is to find new houses that have not been integrated with greed from their product, and to buy at the beginning of the creation of a juice before they sale out the original formula.
