  • Shankill Protestant Boys Flute Band.
    Mural Unveiling.
    2015
This year See's the 35th anniversary of the Shankill Protestant Boys Flute Band, The S.P.B is widely respected not only within the Greater Shankill Area, but throughout Ulster, Scotland & beyond.
Since the 1980's the S.P.B has had the honour of carrying the flags, in recognition & remembrance, of the brave men of the Ulster Volunteer Force's 1st Battalion. Something they do with
    great pride.
Marching alongside the S.P.B are friends, comrades, & Orange Order members, of LOL 633, Old Boyne Island Heroes.
This lodge has been with the S.P.B for many years & it is only right that this friendship be recognised.
Many within the S.P.B had family members march down the
Shankill Road & off to War 100 years ago, passing the very street, & wall, that this mural is painted upon today. Many of those family members did not come home, having paid the ultimate sacrifice
    on the battlefield's of Belgium,Turkey, France& elsewhere.
This mural was dedicated to those local men, & women, who gave their lives within the Great War, & any other War or Conflict thereafter, it was dedicated to all members of the Band & Lodge,
Past & Present, & it should be looked upon inspirationally by all future members also.
The Shankill Protestant Boys Flute Band is part of a Strong & Vibrant Protestant Unionist Loyalist Culture & it's always great to see them, Coming Down The Road.
