In return, gertude star will attend the other visiting bands to compete in their local parade. They all play the drums in sync and they all play the flute without mistake however you compare them to a Republican band, 1. Republican bands look scruffy; these are clean, 2. This band has top of the range instruments and equipment in comparison Republican bands have sports direct black reebok t-shirts 5-£10 and their drums and flutes are as cheap as shit whereas the SPB have top of the range stuff and all tuned to perfection, 3. Republican bands can't play properly and they sound like their all drunk trying to play an instrument, 4. The SPB have a organised band and smartly lined up at all times, whereas the Republican bands are just complete filth and are all over the place, 5. Republican bands play anti-British and very badly constructed irish songs whereas the SPB play hymns, Loyalist songs and war songs where around 15% of songs played are Loyalist Paramilitary songs compared to the Republicans play proably around 90% IRA influenced songs, 6. These Republican bands walk around Glorifying the IRA and how they killed innocent British and Protestant and walk around with active and past IRA members who have committed crimes such as killings whereas the SPB have not and do not!
As suggested I watched the bandfest at the Calgary Stampede, trombonists who don't use the slides, trumpeters who don't use the valves, limiting repertoire. Neither the flute bands in the UK or the marching bands in N. America are full orchestras and play within their capabilities limited by versitility of the instruments. On the whole the flute bands do better using all of what they have whereas the college bands don't use all their potential provided by their range of instruments.
