The helmet guy made a big mistake with chameleon 2nd fight, but still was ahead. All these considerations are what made this race worthwhile to watch instead of just thinking that it was over from the first 2 minutes because you make the viewer believe the only mistake/bad luck happened at the intro stage.

JPN versions tend to have more bugs/glitches that can be exploited than the NTSC and PAL versions. They tend to get fixed when they are released over here. This might not be refer to THIS game, but it is one of the reasons the JPN versions are preferred (as well as dialog text).
Playing yhis game in the SNES back in the day I didn't know you could stuck the ice penguin in the wall, neither that you could grab stuff with the boomerang, so I thought the iceless trick was the way you were supposed to grab that heart.

Actually, you don't need to get it. You just have to see (i.e it has to appear on screen) a spot right next to the life item. That's one visit. You need to do this 5 times in total, keeping in mind that in the fifth visit you gotta have all bosses defeated, all sub-tanks, all heart tanks, all armor parts and full health by the time you get to the capsule. Be careful, if the capsule spawns and for whatever reason you make it go off screen, it will despawn and you'll have to do another visit. Cheers.
A while back during the early marathons I would crop out the stuff leading up to the run start, but the fans prefer seeing the chit chat and runner interaction, etc....
The hadoken requires that you have every item (heart tanks, sub tanks, etc) and the 4 sub tanks are filled. They are collecting health for the subtanks by running through the enemies in the mine, then suicide to go back to the checkpoint.
Jared Strong You don't need to have the subs filled you just need to have them. You need to "visit" that perch 4 times throughout the game, the last time you need all the items and full health, and that capsule will appear. It's just faster to suicide a couple times when getting the last 3 visits. With the first visit being when you first play armadillo's stage.

Thinking about it I don't see why you can't beat Chameleon first, as the only the Eagle is for is Mammoth's stage and the body armour is pretty useful. But then I simply remember my dilemma as a kid of having Chameleon, Kuwanger and Octopus sitting there as the insurmountable trio. Kuwanger and Octopus having a staring contest of as they're each other's weakness then Chameleon was just bein' that guy that wants you to beat the other two first.
Here's a standard route example. Penguin, Eagle, Mammoth, Kuwanger, Mandrill, Armadillo, Octopus, Chameleon. With that route, you would only have to use x buster on 3 bosses, the rest you could use weaknesses. Penguin and Eagle are very easy to x buster, Kuwanger may take some practice in casual play.
Not too sure about that, i tried with the english version and when you hadoulen sigma's head in his final form the hadouken vanishes on hit and makes a "blink" sound effect like if you shot the helmet guys with the x buster.

KainPyrotic That's impossible in the original. When the haduken hits, you hear the reflect/bounce sound so Sigma last form is immune to haduken.
