When I was a child I used to be obsessed with the garbage men, of course I don’t remember it, but my mom told me I used to beg her to let me stay at home and not go to kindergarten on Fridays because I wanted to see the garbage men. According to my mom, I used to bring them my toys and snacks and they used to give me presents on my birthday
I was put out of work at 50 because of neuropathy but that's what I miss the most , The Children, I knew where every child was on every street and I made sure to give a big wave to make them all feel special and after a while I would have the parents out there laughing because their kids where so happy showing me their new trash truck and I have given some very clean bright vest like we wore . I get that from my mama , she's always been the one that made all the kids feel special and you never know, you might be the only happiness that child sees all week and that makes them grow up with happy thoughts, I pray that's not the case and all were loved my many but just in case a little more happiness can't do nothing but help. 🙏

@@SuperMontsta So first off, I see what you mean about the pay for garbage men and I understand that not every garbage man is making 6 figures out here but some actually do get decent money and benefits so I am not knocking against someone for being a garbage collector. Secondly, we don't even know if this man was wanting a relationship in the first place and when approached to by this woman, he could've been shocked that she even wanted to date him at all. So in conclusion, yes men should have the courage to asking out women but if a woman says she wants to go out with a man on a date that isn't the end of the world and also depending on many different factors this man could've been making decent money as a garbage man or could've even been figuring out what he wanted to make of his life and was working in the meantime to figure it out. So I grew up as a dumpster diver, in a family that did it quite often. When I was a baby I would go ballistic if we pasted a trash can with something laying beside it. My first words were "Dumpster dive." Dad was so happy...Mom was livid. Anyway, I got lots of stuffed animals that I still have, An HP laptop with an DvD player and HDMI port that my dad found and gave me for school (recent find past 4 months, fully functional and scrubed when I got it), and a rotary phone. I found lots of other things but my favorite was the Phone and a Pink glass cooking pot that I used quite often till it broke. My dad also found an old Wii that worked :). You find a lot of good things and it's kinda sad most people don't donate stuff or sell it at least. But hey, I got some nice finds
I love this! My husband and me love when school is ending because it's the best time to dumpster dive at colleges! So much good stuff gets thrown away because people can't keep it all when going back home across country or are finishing school for good. It's great!
@@lucid_mx I should clarify scrubbed. I had nothing but a finance/tax form of some sort from 2 years ago in the files. I didn't open it, just deleted them. But it has/had some heavy antivirus setup, an Xbox Compatible thingy that's now out of date, and a handful of other things I don't use, like Candy Crush. It was found in an area where it's cheaper to just toss it out and buy a new one, rich AF people zone basically. In full honesty, I have no idea why anyone would toss it. It has zero issues besides the fact that the version of Word and Shi I have to use REQUIRES MONEY FOR SPELL CHECK and LOTS of basic things. I'm not kidding, but it's the only version of Word I can get in the Microsoft Store. I think the reason they tossed it was because It's so outdated honestly

Springfield Mo trashman here.... I found a deceased baby pitbull on top of an 8yard dumpster. I went to open the lids and hook up the cable to dump it and when I did I saw the poor little guy. I took off my undershirt and wrapped him up in it and put him in the truck with me and as soon as I passed by a park I stopped and gave him a proper burial. I had to use a claw hammer that I had in the truck because I didn't have a shovel but it worked. people can be cruel and nasty and unfortunately you see everything when you dump peoples trash. You get to see exactly who they are.

My brother-in-law drove a Rubbish Lorry (I'm British) in Cobham a few years ago and one of the wheely bins had a lid which wasn't shut. The worker raised the lid to pack the rubbish down and found a woman's foot. The body had been crudely wrapped and pushed head first into the bin.
I'm a garbage man, and the memorable thing I've had happened when behind the truck was a little kid who was very curious about the truck, asking how the trash was put into the truck and such. So i showed him how to line up the can up on the tipper, then let him use the lever to lift it up and dump in the bucket of the truck. Even let him use the levers to clean out the bucket and let him use the air horn to annoy his neighbors. The smile on that kids face made my day.

I was picking up trash once and went to grab a piece of paper, there happened to be the stem of a broken wine glass just under the paper and when I grabbed it the glass stem went straight through the middle of in between my fingers and into my hand. Surprisingly, there was almost no blood, but I could see straight inside of my hand, where it looked hollow inside between the skin and meat inside. It must have severed a nerve though as I lost the feeling on the side of my middle finger for years
I was a trashmam for a small city and I absolutely loved it and you wouldn't believe all the stuff people throw away. I have endless tools , bikes , air comp. , gold , early 1900's jewelry, sone people would trash gift cards and I started getting all I saw and some was loaded but nearly all had money , I could go on and on and I always would make sure to be extra nice to all the children because that could be the only friendly face they would see but I've had dad's come out and thank me and their children had to show me the trash truck they was bought , that was the most rewarding job I've ever had but it was tuff , you are wide open from start to finish, be extra nice to the children ya'll , they are precious and love your own children you're all they have and don't set them up for failure in life , let them know about God and hid Son , Jesus Christ 😊.

I manage my local recycling depot, and let me tell you, on the days we’re open for residential drop offs, I’ve found some pretty interesting things. Everything from jewelry, uncashed cheques, cash, to sex toys, people’s personal diaries, adult magazines…you name it. I last saw them after a play date with the richest kid in my class. My mother was in a rush picking me up. When I sat in the car I realized I had forgotten to pick up my Bays as we stepped out the front door. They were literally on the floor at the front door. It would have taken seconds to go get them from the car. My mother said, "You can get them later". I never did get them later.

My Pappop was a garbage man. He brought us home peddle cars, 1 was a firetruck. He brought me home a couple of Barbie's & a Buggy doll half that size. Buffy, from Family Affair. My dad started his own TRASH COMPANY in 1972 all the way to 1985. He started by himself and 1 day he had 16 employees. When he got older he offered me his business but I was a spoiled brat. It was the WORST DECISION I ever made. My dad made A LOT OF MONEY with his business. I wish I could go back in time and change that decision. 😕 TRASH COMPANY'S make a lot of money if you run it right. 😃😃😃

I have endless tools , bikes , air comp. , gold , early 1900's jewelry, sone people would trash gift cards and I started getting all I saw and some was loaded but nearly all had money , I could go on and on and I always would make sure to be extra nice to all the children because that could be the only friendly face they would see but I've had dad's come out and thank me and their children had to show me the trash truck they was bought , that was the most rewarding job I've ever had but it was tuff , you are wide open from start to finish, be extra nice to the children ya'll , they are precious and love your own children you're all they have and don't set them up for failure in life , let them know about God and hid Son , Jesus Christ 😊.

When I was younger I would always run out to see the ‘garbage men’ keep in mind I was like 6 but one of them became friends with me and my identical twin. A couple months ago before my first day of high school, unbeknownst to me this man was working on my route again ( he hadn’t been on our route for 4 years and we forgot about him) and he came up to us and started talking to us 🥺

As a former rear load garbage truck driver (4 years) omg the things I saw! But my best trash find was an umbrella, not wrong with it at all! The next unbelievable thing was 2 guinea pigs I saw in the hopper while dumping a dumpster...but good news I got them both out and my boss came to pick them up. Like WTF living animals in the trash

I manage my local recycling depot, and let me tell you, on the days we’re open for residential drop offs, I’ve found some pretty interesting things. Everything from jewelry, uncashed cheques, cash, to sex toys, people’s personal diaries, adult magazines…you name it.
When it’s near the holidays, always make sure to open every box and every envelope, no matter what the person says is inside!😉
As a Diesel mechanic who's repaired garbage trucks and the Land compactors at the dump I've found lots of 💩 filled nappies jammed up under the belly plates of the land compactor.

My best friend growing up, his step-dad and my grandfather found $110,000 in an old matress. They split that real quick. lol They found an old ammo box packed with old baseball cards too. No idea what they did with the cards but my grandpa had that box sitting in his shed, filled with old screws for years after.
I’ve pulled out two brass fire extinguishers a fire call box from New York a $2000 laptop an Xbox one that just need cleaned. And much much more. The fire call box was one of the stations that responded to 911.

My dad was a garbage man. He retired 2 years ago. A lot of people shit talk but it’s a great Union job that pays well.
Somewhere out there, maybe someone in waste management found them or they are in a landfill. But as I kid a carried around my OG Bayblades in a plastic grocery bag.
I last saw them after a play date with the richest kid in my class. My mother was in a rush picking me up. When I sat in the car I realized I had forgotten to pick up my Bays as we stepped out the front door.
They were literally on the floor at the front door. It would have taken seconds to go get them from the car. My mother said, "You can get them later".
I never did get them later.
Not a garbage man, but I used to be a floor attendant at a nightclub. Best “floor prize” that I ever found was a pair of knee high, black patent leather platform stilettos. I wore those boots until they died 🖤
My Pappop was a garbage man. He brought us home peddle cars, 1 was a firetruck. He brought me home a couple of Barbie's & a Buggy doll half that size. Buffy, from Family Affair. I finally had to throw her away, again, about 6 yrs ago. I had her for over 40 yrs, my little sisters, my daughters, my nieces, and my granddaughter all got to play w/that doll. I really loved watching that show as a child. But I loved watching them all playing w/the doll my Pappop saved from the incinerator for me!!
One day on a recycle route, I stopped in an alley to pull a bin out. When I lifted the lid there was a man curled up sleeping inside of it.

When I was a kid in the 80s one of the garbagemen that rode on the side of the truck had a giant water gun and would hose us down in the middle of summer so all the kids went and got water guns and it was war every time they rode through.

My dad started his own TRASH COMPANY in 1972 all the way to 1985. He started by himself and 1 day he had 16 employees. When he got older he offered me his business but I was a spoiled brat. It was the WORST DECISION I ever made. My dad made A LOT OF MONEY with his business. I wish I could go back in time and change that decision. 😕 TRASH COMPANY'S make a lot of money if you run it right. 😃😃😃
