Fun Fact: The Sony Super Walkman (WM-20/WM-10) was first announced in a two-minute commercial that aired at the end of the Japanese broadcast of Billy Joel: Live from Long Island, which aired on TV Asahi (and other ANN affiliates) on September 19, 1983. Sony was a sponsor of the Japanese Broadcast.
I followed your instructions for belt replacement and clean up, and it worked great! However, my motor is running very noisy and slow... any ideas on lubrication? Is it the motor or the smaller gears around it? What to use?
@PKBreviews Nice! I've still got my original Sony WM-101 Walkman, but I also need to replace the belt. Otherwise it worked perfect before the belt gave up. I THINK it will be a straightforward repair. :fingers_crossed: This tear-down and replacement video might help. :) And although the single AA battery holder/attachment is separate and clips onto the exterior at one end of the unit, luckily I still never left a battery in it to leak and corrode. I also have a few Sony CD Walkmans with the Toslink mini digital output and wired LCD remote/headphone Jack (one is the D-EJ715 and a few FM Tuner/CD Walkman models as well), plus a Sony MZ-R50 MiniDisc MD Walkman Recorder/Player with the extra external AA battery attachment. Both still work great. :) Cheers.
I just bought one but seems to have had a larger spill with battery acid. Can I use a toothbrush and contact cleaner to spray down the circuit board and then scrub it with a tooth brush? I seem to have no power with HP plugged in.
Hey boss! I hope you are well. I am trying to do a port replacement on my Redmi K40 Gaming phone. Is it necessary to remove/disconnect the logic board prior to performing the task? I am still waiting for the part to be delivered atm. Thank you in advance.
What your talking about is people who change IMEI numbers and change the baseband and radio bands on the phone, that's not unlocking. Still I would think it would be really hard to do, and would possibly require hardware modification to make it work properly since the parts in the phone are made for iden networks and the processor would need to be able to do LTE for example to be able to work on LTE networks and now a days networks are phasing out of 3G so that's not an option.
it was plugged into earphones and not an audio out to speakers so yep. the main point was getting it working from it not playing or moving the motor at all.
These early Walkman's like a lot of early Japan made electronics are so well made, little to no plastic used throughout.
👍
My father gave me one as an Xmas present in 1983. Love it, the sound was amazing.
Thanks!
Thank you!

I appreciate how they label the pre-amp area on the back as a separate zone.
Throwback for sure! 👍💚

My belt looked identical. Totally liquified.

No the main board is not needed to be removed, just the sub board on bottom.

I had a waterproof yellow Walkman with am/fm stereo and it was waterproof. It lasted forever.
👍 yup, they used to built stuff to last.

Ремень в этих плеерах меняется без снятия пластины и платы , непонятно зачем автор сам себе создал лишний геморрой с разборкой.
Simple. He wanted to clean out all the pieces of a disintegrated 40 year old belt.
