VIDEO INTRODUCTION
The year is 1947 and India had just gotten independence!! And while we were taking our first breath of freedom!! On the other side, the world had just witnessed the most horrific war in world history!!! And the event that shook the world was when the united states of america put an end to world war 2 by dropping 2 nuclear bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki!!!
The entire world was shocked to see how these nuclear bombs turned 2 entire cities to dust within a minute!! And the effects of Radiations astounded the most powerful nations in the world!!
That day every single leader in the world realized that if mankind comes to an end, nuclear weapons will be the reason!!! But you know what??
While the entire world saw nuclear bombs as weapons of mass destruction, one man saw it as an opportunity!! This man wasn't an American or a Russian, he was an Indian who went by the name Homi Jehangir Bhabha!!! Now like I said, This was the time when India had JUSTTT achieved independence, and we were such a poor country, that 80% of our population was living in poverty, we were struggling for food and the entire world looked down on us as a hopeless nation!!! And one of the biggest challenges we had was the energy problem!!! And we practically needed a miracle to recover from the destruction of british raj!!!
And this miracle is what Homi bhabha saw!! He knew that even though nuclear bombs were dangerous, the process behind nuclear bombs was the miracle that India desperately needed because he knew the power nuclear energy!!
So the question is,
What was Bhabha’s nuclear secret that could have changed India forever?
Why has India fallen behind today? What are the challenges that are paralyzing our growth in nuclear energy today?
And most importantly, where does India’s nuclear energy program stand today?

Not just Homi Bhabha but more than 11 Indian nuclear scientists have died Mysterious death 😔 we all are too busy in our internal conflicts so much that some western powers are secretly paralyzing our country for decades
They are still dying, it gets passed off u der the radar of mainstream media as fringe news. See yai yay is one mf agency. They ruined our space program by leaking false info to IB about our top isro scientist Nambi Narayanan sir that he was giving sensitive info to Pakistan about our space program. He had to fight for so long and his entire family endured torture so 10 years from police and society. In the end he was proven innocent. It was too late before our IB realised that MF agency See yai yay had just sabotaged India's space program by toppling it's top scientist. In the end he was so traumatized that he could no longer work at ISRO and his career ended.

If he had not died we could have achieved Nuclear bomb before 1971 war. If we had nuke then no country would have dared to attack India and we wouldn't have needed USSR for help in the first place.
There are no permanent enemies and friends among countries. Everything depends on the ruling powers of that time.

1 point missing here:
When India does try to go forward, people of India will protest severly against it like they protested against the kudankulam reactor.
And when we try other options like biogas, farmers will protest against it (happening now in Punjab)
We will never move forward if corrupt politicians play dirty politics abusing the poor people and keeping them backward and forcing us from advancements.
Have you forgot what happened when Sabarmati Dam was Constructing??
Whole Leftist, Communist, Anti-India people came to oppose it
Don't forget Amir Khan and some other Karchiwood people were also involved and opposing it
@HarshSingh-1034 as I said... Majority of the population is against progress and pro freebies... Most of us just want free money and complain about no jobs. No government can employ the whole nation... Instead of going after govt jobs like sheep we should help with job creation, and create streams of income ourselves.
If we want the country to progress, we should progress, India can't become developed overnight and giving free stuff can't lift people out of poverty
It's NGOs to be more precise Foreign funded NGOs
How farmers gonna protest, where was it happened? People will protest against nuclear(Uranium/Thorium) explorations within India. That is not just how this man says in the video. Because, People live there! Not any trash that can be thrown into bin!
Uranium/Thorium : A BiG NO!
Renewable energy : Biogas, Solar, Wind, Hydro power : an UNDOUBTED YES!
BUILD UP ON RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES as Mr.NCBN says, in his vision document and become really independent Bharat! That's what he tried in AP or in Telugu states and formulating policy reforms on. Don't know why he was hated by the so called self-proclaimed ultra/pseudo nationalists guys. Is Gujarat not a coastal state? How deliberately this video creator has shown the reserves only in Southern India. What an irony! These pseudo doesn't even care on talking a word of service when the Telugu states are in complete destructive mode from the last 5years. And censored a state of Telugus, so nothing happening by their illegal backyard silent affair with Jagan wouldn't come out to the public. How heinous is this when the same persons speak about Kerala & Bengal in relation with communism or such? Then immediately skip on or miss upon the regressive devastating situation of Telugus from the last 20years and supports the same people there? Especially in case of Andhra in the last 5years of Jagan govt? So, is this not the useless silent back-yard affair and the so called chrony capitalism of some filthy people from Maharastra and Gujarat? Why wouldn't let the perspectives flow like fresh stream of water? Why would they hide it from the thirsty? So to waste it and make it dirty and deserted and again cry upon whom they made forced slavery? Just explore the Uranium/Thorium reserves in Uttarpradesh, Madhyapradesh, Gujarat, Maharastra, Rajastan, Bihar instead? Is it OK??? Let's see whether people protest or not? These states are not protesting because they rely upon or stealing the opportunities and theft the wealth and hardwork of the southern Indian states, especially the Telugu states from the last two decades! And guys you do completely ignore a whole group of people and undermine them. Only thing you know about them is the cinema that too you guys didn't tell out openly but enjoy them in a closed setup so, no one would know and acknowledge the actual creators of arts, wealth and the work.
so true i went to kudankulam last year from my college iv and we visited the villegers and they are sooo happy now. the same villegers who protested is now so glad the reactor is there since now they have much cleaner and tastier water and food and thanks to the water emitted from the reactor being just hot enough to make the fish lives easier they have much more fish to catch and sell thanks to it. some of them even thanked the scientist that accompanied us....
if indian government starts giving more attention and focus on our scientists,
trust me our nation can really boost in technology and efforts and hardwork Indian peoples give towards their passion/profession
is mindblowing, but what they are getting back towards services is so undercasted till !

As an insider into India's nuclear scientist community, I can tell you that we need more collaboration for India's nuclear dream to work. No one is working towards new nuclear technology except very few; the rest are wasting their time on stupid research to get grant money. The amount of exploitation in Indian academia (especially physics, from my perspective) is unreal, and that is the biggest enemy of our nation.
Yes... Feeling the same situation in Russia Ukraine War. For India its will be A friend, A Neutral and A Strong Leader in world.
India needs to work faster towards this dream.. ASAP
1. The second stage fast reactor went under construction in 2004. It means that the R&D was already completed back then (or so it should have been)
2. If you think budget is the problem here, ₹ 5,850 crore (equivalent to ₹ 220 billion or US$2.58 billion in 2023) were spent until now.
3. Saying that one reactor is completed now won't be correct. A reactor can only be said to have completed when it achieves its 1st criticality. It is well known in Nuclear community
4. Homi Bhabha did bless us with the 3-stage programme, but even if he hadn't passed away untimely, it was unlikely that the programme would have been completed by now. It is possible that a lot of challenges might have been unknown to Bhabha, which we now know. It is very common in R&D. I'll list out the steps required and challenges:
i. Developing reprocessing tech for 1st stage reactors. We can do that well.
ii. Building a fleet of stage 1 reactors and the reprocessing plants to cater to them. We're a long way to go.
iii. Building a stage-2 reactor (we've been at it for 20 years). The R&D is actually going on since 1980s.
iv. Developing reprocessing tech for 2nd stage reactors (good luck with that, a lot of engineering problems. I don't know the current status of this stage)
v. Building a fleet of stage-2 reactors
vi. R&D and construction and first criticality of stage-3 reactors and then building a fleet. Also reprocessing tech for these.
We're in between points ii and iii. The video here is good. But it fails to address the current problems. A case study needs to be done on why we have not progressed beyond this point despite large budgets being allocated (and not for a fleet of reactors, but a single prototype reactor to get it started and it has yet not started). To say that India is lagging due to controversial death of Bhabha is an insult to him, as that was 50 years ago. We need to reflect on where we're actually making a mistake and improve upon that.
Such a well written reply. I hate it when people are like if that didn't happen we would have reached here etc.
I am sure Homi Bhaba mentored some really top notch nuclear scientists in his time and till 1974 we were doing academic collaboration with western scientists so I am sure our scientists must have picked some things.
It's clearly western corruption in India. The only country that has almost full energy dependence is France. Most countries use natural gas and oil as a fuel for energy. Clearly India has rulers with western agendas
KAMINI (Kalpakkam Mini reactor) - the world's only thorium-based experimental reactor. It produces 40 MW of thermal energy at full power.
Thorium is exclusively found in the black sand off of the coast of western india. Fullscale implementation of thorium based reactors can cause depletion of the fuel source. Once tokamak fusion reactors are deemed efficient, only the geopolitical stressors and stupidity of the civilians pose a threat to nuclear revolution in india.
18:25 that's incorrect . US after Japan nuke never wanted to repeat unless if attacked by another nation. It's over exaggeration we Indians want to keep repeating USSR helped india to thrawt USA , same USSR supported china in 1965 war against India. Let's not forget nations act based on their interests not for showing bollywood friendship like relationship towards us.
In 1965 India fought against pakistan not china, India-china war happened in 1962, and Russia didn't helped us because they're already involved with US in cuban missile crisis at that time.
if your talking about India China war in 1962, then it was a limited war on no mans land without any air force involvement and USSR had no obligation to overtly support India since we were not an ally of USSR.But after the war, India and USSR signed a military pact where India and USSR will mutually help if got attacked by China.
but entire indian media has fed the country on how Russia was the friend of India since long.

India and China actually never fought a full scale war they have only fought land war that too without any heavy artilllery

21:31 @ThinkSchool The cost of nuclear energy is very high due to safety precautions need to be taken in a nuclear plant are complex. Secondly the cost of renewables like solar energy and wind energy is decreasing year by year, therefore India is investing on affordable renewable energy than expensive nuclear energy.
While initially it is expensive, it is more efficient and reliable than other sources of energy. You can't be at mercy of solar and wind energy for long. Nuclear plant however expensive is a long-term solution.
@ravikumar-er1kv Yaa true, its long term distriction plan with nuclear radioactive waste which lasts 1000 yrs.
@@S.T.E_YTI don't know what to tell you man, you fail to understand that solar and wind are not reliable sources of energy however cheap they maybe. There are ongoing research on what to do with the waste or how to minimize it, you opt to totally dismiss nuclear power.
Please tell me what should we do instead of what we shouldn't do, to meet the energy demands once we exhaust all the coal we have. Also please tell me how to scale solar or wind energy with this increasing demand.
@ravikumar-er1kv Simple answer for this is our nation needs to work on grid scale energy storage like closed loop pumped hydro and thermal batteries to reduce power curtailment of renewable energy source.

India is taking time to empowering the visionaries and a true leadership hope it get fix soon❤
The only way to respect his legacy is to create 100 more Homi Bhabhas.
Dr. Bhabha was a great man and it's difficult to fill in his shoes. But for how long are we going to hold on to the past and cry about it? It's scary if a country's development is championed by just one person or a small group of people.
Sadly our collective priorities are quite different.
Man hats off to your research and development, respect 😉
The biggest problem is Indian Education system . No one focuses on research and if someone wants too , they can't because there are very less facilities or salary and more exploitation.
Everyone is just running to get a government job No one cars about the Country or any other person . People literally don't have basic civic sense here .
If we want to go grow as a country our main focus should be Research & Development.
There are so many flaws in our country's system.

I hope more educated youth and people run the country
Very true brother, I have the same opinion, we spend less on education and R & D. But when it comes to government jobs, it is not entirely true. I have been to most parts of the country. Most people from north want government jobs, but in south it is a different matter altogether. As far as I have seen in south they choose to be a doctor, an IT professional or have their own business etc. Just saying that government job is not their first priority. I may not have a source for this, but I have a sample space of whole college where I graduated in Tamil Nadu. As far as I have seen there is huge demand for government job mostly from UP and Bihar.

This is an Impressive video and I fucking love that you can speak English. I don't know what software you're using for editing but you deserve more views.
0:45 Choose your words carefully. US didn't put an end to WW2 by dropping those bombs. First of all WW2 was ended by Soviets once they captured Berlin and second US dropped those bombs despite knowing WW2 has ended and Japan has agreed to surrender. There was absolutely zero need for those bombs to be dropped. Speak the history as it was, not the Western version.
Hey buddy. Japan hadn't surrendered before the bombs were dropped.
@ak171287 I didn't say Japan had surrendered, Japan had offered to surender which was not accepted by US, instead they dropped the bombs. Besides, there was no need to drop those bombs to kill tens of thousands of innocent civilians to defeat Japan.
Guys, I learnt it in a different way in my school textbook.
US asked Japan to surrender or else face it's wrath.
Japan send US a voice message through radio that they need time to think in Japanese.
US personnels didnot know the Japanese language except for few words which included surrender.
Since Japan did not say " we surrender " in Japanese they thought that Japan decided to continue the war.
And so US nuked it. The entire nuke happened due to misunderstanding by US and later they felt guilty for all the destruction.
Due to this US decided to pay compensatory amount for all the loss it caused every year. They are paying it even today.
I am not sure whether this is true or not but i just wanted to share what I learnt...
Bro how can you say with much surety that US didn't need to end the war and that Japan had agreed to surrender. It is still a contested topic that no one has right answer to. You are just taking the other side like people from other part of the spectrum do. And are doing for the very same reason that so many people died. What we know is that Japan's leadership was not unified, some wanted to surrender while others still wanted to fight. We can't take a side in this matter that's all I would say.
@@vipulgupta probably wanted to set the narrative that they caused the ww2 to end and also test the weapons.
i always loved nuclear energy, now i am even more fulled up learn about and contribute to it
The video would have been more useful if it had focussed more on what are we doing about it now like challenges, advancements happening now instead of talking about historical incidents for 20mins.
Thanks for making such videos ✨❤️

Brother,
Could you please cover the US 36 Trillion debt.
Possibilities of US Default.
Impact in the world and mainly in India.
This is amazing... Need to reach 1 crore views

Brother - Wheres the part 2 of Dhirubhai? - Was really interested in that case study.
There's something about Think School videos that's just not working.
The editing has gone better by a mile, motion graphics, explanations, all have bettered with time.
Maybe it's just me but the simplicity of the presentation was what made me intrigued, which doesn't do so anymore.
Appreciate the feedback! We are experimenting with different formats to see what resonates best!
Thumbnails are not working bro. Simply putting Modi's pic for every damn video with the topic name will not work.
True +1
@@sandeepva6409 And also changing of Thumbnail and title constantly, it makes me avoid watching it the moment it gets uploaded and wait till the final Title & Thumbnail comes. @ThinkSchool
@@ThinkSchool Probably keeping it more simple and subtle would bring back what think school actually means. We don't want to be awed with the visuals, but with the presentation!
Your English is just fantastic..
I'm doing ielts..and your videoes helping me❤❤❤
It was very insightful...Thank You
Uranium vs Thorium plz
I disagree that we need to increase our dependency on Nuclear.
Nuclear is not cost efficient and could also be dangerous in case of even a minor accident. Nuclear Waste is also a big issue.
India is gifted with ample amount of sunlight through out the year unlike Europe or US.
We should make use of it instead.
Solar Energy is very cost efficient and getting more and more affordable.
Cost efficient, but not reliable. Do you think we can meet energy demands just with solar energy. You surely don't think solar energy can scale with ever increasing energy demands. We need to have nuclear plants, but it should be a balance of both and not over reliance on either.
@@ravikumar-er1kv Solar can scale up to fulfil at least 40-50% of India's energy demands. We get enough Sunlight for that and efficiency of Solar modules is also increasing by day.
Aside from solar, there's wind and hydro as well. Now there's also green hydrogen which also looks promising.
Nuclear power would at most fulfil 5-10% of total energy need. Unless there's some breakthrough which reduces the cost of setting up nuclear plant and make it much safer.
One can install solar modules on their rooftops but they will not like to have nuclear plant even in their city due to potential risks
@llawliet365 bro what kind of BS argument is that. France produces 70% of its energy through nuclear power. Does everyone have a nuclear plant on their rooftops. And where are you pulling that number from? 40 to 50% yeah right. Do you just count households or what? Most of the energy share goes for industrial purposes. Where do you think india will get land for scaling up of these solar farms. Also i said they are not reliable sources of energy. A long term solution is nuclear power. Hydrogen seems to be an alternative but is dependent on other sources of energy for its production and is still in infancy. No one is saying to have it in every city, but just have enough balance between nuclear and other sources. We should atleast aim for about 10-15% from the current 1%.
Your Graphics game has really gone up ! That 1 cube of Uranium is almost movie like touch - Kudos to Editor
After so much time
This episode is dam very good and knowledgeable

U.S. President John F. Kennedy’s offer of helping India detonate a nuclear device much before China did in 1964 was rejected by Jawaharlal Nehru.
This one guy is the worse disaster to ever hit India 😢
It was good we didn't took their help. Any country that U$ helped has faced negative consequences.
@@rohitkamble3568. Israel. , japan(post ww2) took help of usa , usa didn't back stabbed them. Ofc us will also expect help when needed. You just need to play your cards correctly.
@@rohitkamble3568 What about Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Israel, EU and many other allied powers?
@@nabarkachoudhury4005 Japan and South Korea are in late stage capitalism. Their fertility rate is down. Both countries people are Sl@ves to corporation and overworked they are not happy. Taiwan is different story it's a military base for Usa to keep eye on China

India built a thorium experimental reactor in 1996: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/KAMINI

Now the question is why slow progress from 1st phase to second phase to 3rd phase?
Amazing video

Nuclear energy is losing its sex appeal even in western countries due to safety concerns. Many countries have announced programmes for reducing their shares of nuclear energy. This is one of the biggest reasons why there is a slowdown in scientific research. You should have covered this in video.
Lol. Because of movies you're making your opinion, as big tech are investing in nuclear energy for AI. So yeah do your research rightly and many western are moving from coal or gas to nuclear energy
there are safety concerns with every form of energy production rather than cutting nuclear energy we should increase safety precautions.
And they are making the mistake. Nuclear is more eco friendly than solar or wind energy
@@Clairee17- Very true. Some other person mentioned cost, but they forget that every initiative has an initial cost of setup. Nuclear power is no different. It is also more reliable than most other forms of energy. We cannot afford to not have nuclear power just on the basis of safety which can be dealt by simply adhering to safety standards and precaution. No one is saying it would be perfect, but a country like india needs reliable source of power if we intent on becoming a superpower or atmanirbhar for that matter.
