- Amouage is one the most iconic global perfume brands in modern history which originated in the Sultanate of Oman unlike many others.
In 1983 with the help of one of the most prolific perfumers from Grasse in France, Mr Guy Robert, the brand created the historic "Gentleman's Cologne Spray" which was later renamed Gold Man and Gold Woman respectively.
Let's take a detailed look at the "Most valuable perfume in the World" and compare it to its modern avatar.

Eventually Frankincense trees are disappearing. Unfortunately. The essence and resins are getting expensive and instinct in a very close future. If we don't start of taking care of our nature. Great and thorough review. I have a decant of Gold Man and find it to be quite good, especially in the dry down. Perhaps it matters where it was manufactured, whether it be in the UK or in Oman.

Whenever i use gold man, it takes me to the memories of my childhood, 25 yrs back , visiting five star hotels and fragrance in the lobbies or the air conditioning offices of luxurious industries

Beautiful vintage bottles . The 98 release is also made by Guy Robert . He is an old soul & classic perfumer . Madame Rochas , Gold man & woman have lots of similarities & I do enjoy this style very much . Great collection you have . Stay well !

I dont think this 1983 bottle. The original bottles came in Golden Flasks that are both refillable (the refills can be found on the web but for obscene price) . This is a later release

I have male/female gift set 1983 Gold and Cristal gift sets - unopened and in pretty much damage free original gift set boxes with accompanying soap (also still sealed) … can you help me with information by change? This was gifted to my dad by the sultan due to work he did in Oman 😊

The 1998 formulaton was done by Guy Robert as well. Those vintage bottles are gorgeous, you are lucky, indeed. Nice review, keep up the good work! I like Gold Man, btw.

*Wow, precious vintage versions from Amouage! Have Gold Man and Reflection Man just as Magnetic Cap versions; yes the civet in GM smells IMHO very sharp human ammoniac, LOL! Would like to smell both vintages and Dia Man Vintage too. The color of both juices looks already deeper and rich. Enjoy them to the fullest!* ☕🤤👌

Actually the attars were sold outside of Oman at the start. However, in order for amouage to get the certificate of the association of perfumery and being able to continue selling their perfumes to a more broad market spectrum they had to follow some guidelines forbidding them from using some natural materials either due to their scarcity of ability to cause allergies. (A reason for reformulation) and the reason for discontinuing the selling of Attars outside of Oman.

Hello Nikhil bhai from where to purchase genuin perfumes in India? Earlier you promoted splashfragrence website, I purchased several perfumes from there, but their price are sometime higher than retail or Mrp. I had very bad experience from splashfragrence. I ordered one of Montale perfume 100ml bottle, but when I rceived the delivery I found the bottle half empty. The total weight of the bottle along with the juice was merely 70gms, how 100ml bottle can weigh just 70gms? Actually what splashfragrence do, they decant bottles and resale decant and again sell remaining bottle as retail in full price. Its cheating with customers. I will not suggest anyone to buy from splashfragrence...
I was about to buy the full bottle of Amouage Gold Man. So without comparing it to older version, what's your view on it? I think it smells really opulent.
@@nikhilsfrags I own a bottle as it smelled unbelievable. It beat all the Chanel private line ones in my opinion as their shared DNA is a powdery base. However, from my experience the current formulation is not even close to the original one I had smelled a couple years ago at an airport and then bought my bottle. Sad part is even last year whilst in Dubai duty free, I smelled the tester and it was the older formulation (it's colour is darker and thicker too). But the bottles they are actually selling are old unfortunately. So Nikhil, have you noticed any difference in formulations with this perfume? Also, please let us know your opinion on any version of it you get!

No its not the royal symbol of Oman. Its the word amouage written in arabic twice adn mirrored representing waves which is the meaning of amouage.
