Jeez, I started swatting and itching just watching you.
Very interesting and comprehensive.
Great video. Exactly the information I was looking for
Congrats on 53k views on thos video! Well done man!
Huh. No kidding. I didn’t realize lol. I’ll tell you this though, I’ve gotten the most comments on this video about swatting the mosquitoes, how it’s distracting, how I shouldn’t have published it, how I should try bug spray (duh), etc, etc. Thanks though!
Dude, you're making me itch!
Thank you, sir.
I've read that in the traditional sense, recurve refers to the outward curvature of the bow near the end of its two limbs. A traditional longbow for example is shaped like a D, but a recurve is shaped almost like an M. Some recurve bows also have little follow of the limb as well. Thus, your longbow with the slight recurve shape probably could also be considered a recurve bow....as you said, there is so much overlapping nowadays.
Great video good sir!
I tend to shoot better with my longbow. My recurve originally had an elevated arrow rest and my shooting wasn’t improving much. I threw away the elevated rest and started shooting off the shelf like I do with my longbow and immediately improved.
Can just somebody buy dis man a Astrounot suit
Very interesting, thank you!
Excellent video... Thanks
Toelke Pika 56", baby. Best of both worlds, Short, stable, forgiving longbow that performs.
VICSKIM949 I’m REALLY looking into a Pika or Whistler. Leaning Whistler
@@bowhuntingsoul2149 I'll tell ya what, unless you draw a true 29" or longer, I'd go pika alllll day. Guys are out shooting whips with 56"inch Pikas. SO convenient in the woods.
I’m a recurve guy but I do love long bows
Me too
I currently have a long bow, but thinking about getting a recurve.
I have both. The recurve has more range but the longbow is way lighter. Easier on the left arm.
I'm not very knowledgeable on the various types of bows, but (If there is a difference really) I would love to get some comparisons of these vs Mongolian bows....
I don't have any experience with Monolian bows, but Mike Mathiewitz at Primitive Pursuit might.
Hi! I want to get my first bow , I will use it only for sport shooting ,not hunting . Are you willing to recommend me a type of bow , recurve ,longbow , the resistance of the string , 30;40;50 lb ,the length ? Thank you !
The string angle will be more acute if using a thumb ring, yes?
kevoramma you know, I’m not sure?
I lived in Vermont and that's how the mosquitos were.
Hybrids are where its at . Big Jims , Acadian Woods , Habu , Black Widow , Centaur ,Toelke , Black tail and more .
Sire, you do not need a bow there, you need a flamethrower to stop all those mosquitos legions!!!
david fernández it was bad!
I live in a forestal area too, so I know. A usefull video for beginner like me, thanks!!!
They should get some citronella candles they keep away mosquitoes and pretty much every other bug
@@ttyngordon Really?, I didn´t know, Thank you so much, very usefull.
What's a mosquito? I live in San Diego
With a long bow and a recurve bow of the same draw weight will one draw easier than the other and which one will be the easiest?
Jerry Thompson it really depends on the limb profile and length. Theoretically they should be the same but might have slight differences in draw force curves making them feel different... potentially.
A longbow will in most cases have a smoother draw than a shorter recurve at the same weight.
Get yourself a Thermacell. Thank me later. Haha...saw you mentioned Thermacells. Nevermind.
Thermacell, Deep Woods Off and Permethrin are my fragrances of choice until the frost hits!
So which one would you use in a zombie apocalypse
Right now I’m longbow-less. I’m shooting my 1966 Bear Grizzly best.
@@bowhuntingsoul2149 do you have a recommendation on a good collapsible recurve thank you because I was looking at the atmos Compact Modern longbow and it seems nice but its a bit pricey and I would like a recurve recommendation as well
I've never shot a longbow
two words...Bug Spray.
thats four words
😂face. and rick maybe he doesnt like the costly chemicals.
i choose longbow
Tell that to Genghis Khan WV591 !
Longbow for target, recurve for hunting
You need to wash with regular bar soap. None of that fruity body wash. Bugs fly to the fruity stuff. That's why girls get attacked so bad.
And you got to get the little pump bottles of that 100% deet and keep it right in the glove box. When it comes to bug spray, you want the stuff with the warning label that says it may catch on fire spontaneously if you store it above 70°. If you can just shower in industrial-grade Roundup that's the best. But a lot of people don't have the setup for that.
Haha! Funny you say that. Between the months of April through September I roll with 100 deet spray can in my side door pocket in my car at all times. Not only that, if I step out into the woods (after dousing myself at the car) I also have a small spritz bottle in my shorts pocket because I’ll need “refreshers” every now and then. Also roll with a spray bottle of permethrin in my trunk. No joke.
Not all short bows are recurve bows and there were long bows with recurve you can see this in mediavel art which is not always reliable, but with this topic it can be taken as the true
Edit: Shadiveristy made a video about european recurve short bows were he also talks about how there were decurved short bows and recurved long bows
If you had used bug spray, this video would have had 2 million views
Eagle I never would have thought the bug thing would be such a sticking point with so many people 🤷♂️
What about the differences in efficiency? A well-designed recurve bow with less draw weight can often match the performance of a well-designed longbow. Hence, more efficient. There are of course some exceptions.
I feel so bad that he’s being eaten alive by all those mosquitoes
Deep woods might of helped you dude
I was soaked in it head to toe. Mosquitoes were on crack that day. They don’t mess around
Those mosquitos are giving me anxiety and I'm inside.
Who else saw this because of rangers apprentice
Longbows are much more forgiving, recurves are jyst faster...thats all
I tried to see the firing difference between my long bow and a recurve at 10 yards yesterday, but I couldn't really see much of a difference.
My dad said that it depends on the quality of the bows, but I don't really see what that has to do with it.
Thermacell
Joe P I’m a big Thermacell fan. I think on this day the mosquitoes would have picked up the Thermacell unit and clobbered me over the head with it.
@@bowhuntingsoul2149 lol. They did look bad.
watching this video made me itchy... just had to let someone else know
Jurassic Park
You need a mosquito killing bow
Next time when/if you make another video, do it in a more open area around 1-3pm and also in open area with direct sunlight and away from any low lying vegetation or bushes including ivy. That's where the Asian tiger mosquito lives
Problem is I do a lot of these at 5:00 am or so before work and when no one else is at the range.
Oh okay, I understand
Eso no es un long bow, solo se le llama así al arco largo inglés que tiene unas características propias
100% Deet
Swatting more than talking lol
Countryboy cooking108 yes, yes, I get it. Seems to be the common theme with the comments. Hope you got some value out of the video 🤷♂️
Deep Woods Off, I'm just sayin'
Yes. I’ll add that to the dozens of other obvious comments about bug spray. I can’t believe I didn’t think of that myself.💁♂️
Logbow hands down. elegant and graceful weapon from more civilized age. recurves are clumsy and random.
I shoot both and honestly love both.
Incorrect
This is a Star Wars reference, people. Although they may still mean it 😄
