    Wooo, a "fixie" with freewheel and double breaks, I like it. Single Speed is also the most fundamental form, never a reason for that to be dissed.

      I like ss more than fixie tb. Corning and down hills are way more fun.

      Ya, I do rode fixie like continuously for 1-2 weeks twice to four times every year, that's all. Rest of times I do ride geared or SS, and most commute on SS.@@taylerthompson7559

      True. Also i think i would be great idea to have single speed bikes with coaster brake only on road / track frames. Look of a brake-less fg approachable to waaay more people. I think such style can get much more people cycling which is better for us all. But i would still ride my front brake equipped fixed gear even if i use it once a day.

    So much fun! Riding around Tokyo is so much fun, and the roads in Japan tend to be pretty clean-in the last 8.5 years here I think I’ve gotten only two flat tires from punctures. You should come up to Saitama City while you’re here!

    Can someone explain the allure of sitting on the top tube? I get that it is a vibe for 2020s bike hipsters, but I haven't graduated to liking the feeling of of metal on my taint.

      @TheBikeLife maybe the combination of a big frame and a high saddle makes him do it? To not tip toe balancing during a red light? Just my guess from observation. He‘s only doing it when he‘s about to stop. But maybe it‘s a 2020s vibe as you said. So far never happened to see it on the road myself.

    • @novein3368
      @novein3368 10 месяцев назад +5

      There's no 'allure' to it lol, the top tube is just shorter than the seat so you can take some pressure off of your legs for a moment by sitting on it instead of standing or tip-toeing at a stop. Idk if you're joking about metal on your taint, but I feel like it's very obvious that you're not supposed to sit on your gooch. You rest on the glute or hamstring, slightly off-centered, like he is in the video.

      it depends on the vibe of the moment, Tokyo is not New York or Amsterdam. They all require their own approach, people are different, traffic is different, and so are the laws. Maybe the only thing they have in common is that they all require you to stop. But breaking this traffic rule has different implications and consequences in each respective situation.
