I actually like both Natalie Cole and Aretha Franklin tbh. They both sing amazing and have awesome performances.
For example, I love Aretha’s performance of “Meadows of Springtime” from the Midnight Special in 1977. And I also love her performance of “More Than Just a Joy” in 1978.
Now for Ms Natalie “Queen Diva” Cole. My favorite performance from her is “Lucy in The Sky with Diamonds” from her album ’Natalie..Live!’ and I love her performance of “I Can’t Say No/Something’s Got a Hold on Me”. The way she sings “Sometimes” and the audience just goes completely crazy

Her main producer and partner in music (Jerry Wexler) had actually left Atlantic Records by this time, and they didn't know what to do with her. @@stevenlewis2490 I don't think the album didn't sell because Wexler was or was not the producer. Wexler and Atlantic Records did play a MAJOR role in making her a SUPERSTAR, and you're right that Atlantic was somewhat not sure what to do with her during the mid and late 70s. However, after Wexler and Atlantic records made her a star, Aretha's name and talent alone, proved to the world her greatness! At that point, she didn't need Atlantic or Wexler. In my opinion, what she needed was a soulful or heart-felt, kick-ass ballad like 'You" or 'I'm Not Strong Enough To Love You Again,' to had been released, instead of the funky, but corny, 'Mr. DJ.' She also needed a record company that knew exactly what to do with her talent and be steadfastly committed to PROMOTING her work!
