I first heard this guys when Tales from the thousand lakes was released (yeah i'm not a teenager anymore unfortunately) and i don't care about this newer stuff but their first 3 albums are pure classics.
@@intjreacts If you like death metal than either one of their first two albums (Karelian Isthmus or Tales from the Thousand Lakes) will do but I would suggest Tales from the Thousand Lakes. If you are more into prog, folk metal then definitely Elegy
Amorphis are an incredible live band, his vocals are really good. I prefer their earlier albums or even the doom project he fronted called Hallatar. Gas lipstick also plays drums for Hallatar so that might blow your mind since you mentioned HIM
This is also the first time I'm hearing this song and I share your sentiment mostly. I really like the chorus, but I'm mostly also not a fan of songs that are too progressive and try to implement too many elements into 1 song. There are other songs like: "Amongst Stars" by Amorphis that are not progressive at all. I think you'd like that one. I also love their older pure melodic death metal album: Tales from the Thousand Lakes from 1994. Amorphis had a lot of style changes over the course of their existene so the older stuff is totally different from what they do now.
