In the summer of 2010, Ali Randolph & Outta Luck went into Chris Rosser's studio to re-record the Popcorn Sutton song. For the music video, they played live at a roadhouse bar called The Still, and singer-guitarist Ali Randolph shot on location at Popcorn's property and the site of his last moonshine operation. POPCORN SUTTON
Popcorn Sutton was a legendary mountain moonshiner whose illegal likker was known around the world. In February 2008, an undercover agent bought moonshine from Popcorn on two separate occasions. At the third buy, Popcorn was arrested, and later sentenced to federal prison. But instead of going to prison, Popcorn made life's ultimate decision. On March 16, 2009, he climbed into his famous green Ford, and ended his life. But not the legend of Popcorn Sutton. That lives on...

Lot of history in these mountains between Burnsville NC to Cocke County TN.Majority of my neighbors were in the movie Thunder Ridge and it was filmed just down the road,however no one was as good as Ole Popcorn.

It inspired me to start making shine now ive worked up to a decent operation i use a wood furnace i tried to make my still as authentic to popcorns as i could, and ive named it Popcorn Jr. since i only have a 25 gal pot :) Its too bad we lost a good ol boy. RIP POPCORN.Your legacy lives on.

I never knew the man, but as previous comments, there are worse illegal things that is affecting our country and our tax dollars could be put to better use. ALi Ranadolph & The Outta Luck Band has just released the "Frankie & Charlie" DVD. It contains 2 video versions of originals "Frankie & Charlie" and 2 versions of "Reality" filmed in North Carolina.
The 40 + minutes DVD contains extras, bloopers, slideshows etc.
The Frankie & Charlie Silver story is a well known, and tragic, story of a young woman who was abused by her husband to the point that she killed him, reportedly with an axe and burned some of his body in the fireplace.

Even though the Discovery Moonshiners series was a dramatization, it did give us some insight into the production of moonshine.
In the second series, word is that the late Popcorn Sutton will feature a little more.
This "injustice" has been going on for a long time. Its based on profit and revenue for the state which controls such laws. If you read history and understand its not based on race but profit. A story told a thousand times within history. What a state cannot control, will try to eliminate completely forever. But realistically, it only strengthens it eternally.

Ali Randolph & The Outta Luck Band will play August 4 at the 3rd Annual Popcorn Sutton Tribute at The festival Grounds in Maggie Valley, NC. This year it's a 2 day event 3,4 Aug with pre-tribute events on 2 Aug in Maggie Valley.

I had the honor to meet the man a bunch of times & can remember everything he said! Popcorn is a once in a lifetime man there will never be another! This song is amazing!!! He was the most real, honest, in your face man ever! He'd tell you "I'm Popcorn Sutton and if u don't like it u can kiss my god damn ass" RIP POPCORN the last of the great moonshiners!!!! Judge thought he'd caught him and tried to make an example but Popcorn had diff plans and did what his foot marker says "Popcorn Said Fuck You" I still blame the judge for that man taking his life I think he'd still be raising hell today if not for that sentence!
