Fantastic cover! I think the lyrics definitely capture that budding love story between Maomao and Jinshi. I'm excited and can't wait for season 2. There are so many moments in season 1 where Jinshi is simply thunderstruck by how beautiful Maomao is both inside and out. If season 2 is as successful as season 1, I hope Toho Animation continues with season 3 because that really takes Maomao's story to a totally new place, introducing a whole cast of new supporting characters and really expands upon her backstory. And thank you for considering my suggesting and making the cover :) Now, I'm not sure what is the extent of your musical ability but have you considered composing something original? I think it would be interesting if you read ahead in The Apothecary Diaries manga or the light novels to see if you can find another impactful scene and create an original composition. I'm not a musician or a composer so I'll leave it up to you if you wish to try this challenge. Spoilers ahead!!! Since Maomao is the daughter of Lakan, she actually comes from the *named* family Kan. This is important because despite Maomao's insistent and claim that she's from lowly birth, she is in fact considered a noble.

I am so excited for season 2 as well, and I really love how they naturally built the connection between Mao Mao and Jinshi in season 1. I haven't read the manga yet so I didn't know that many other side characters would be introduced to the story as well. Hope they release the new season soon and that it's a success like season 1. Wow I love that idea, I do make original music too so that's actually a great topic for me to explore. Definitely want to try out something like that. @@aishiadatta I think an Apothecary Diaries inspired original song doesn't have to revolve around Maomao and Jinshi's relationship. It would be interesting to explore some of the supporting characters. I think an upbeat and whimsical song about Lihaku working to win Pairin's affection and his desire to buy out her contract would be a good topic to explore. Lihaku doesn't have a lot of scenes but he does get character development moments. We learn that he's a kind-hearted man when he didn't want to watch Maomao and the other food tasters test for poison during the garden party, he works hard and gets promotions, and he has a strong moral code insisting that he does things the right way and turns down Jinshi's significant monetary gift. Pairin gets even less screen time than Lihaku but we learn that she and the other courtesans took care of Maomao when she was a baby to the point there Maomao thinks of Pairin more as her surrogate mother than just an older sister. Pairin is also a romantic and wants a charming prince to come sweep her off her feet, which I think Lihaku can definitely do in more than one way.
