technically it a bushing not a ferrule, ferrules are used to connect two tubes together, bushings are used to prevent friction and wear inside a hole. using a screwdriver to seat the bushings is a great idea.
I absolutely hate these tuners. I've ordered true locking tuners from Fender. The only pity is if they didn't finish with lacquer before fixing the tuners, as the locking tuners have a smaller footprint. Why, Fender. Why?
Update: their locking tuners have the same footprint as the "classic", and go right in without any woodwork. I love the locking tuners. Restringing is a breeze now, and there's no slippage. Strings stay in tune.
Wow ! I'm a carpenter and musician and your idea is brilliant ! Thanks from Quebec !
Very helpful, are yours nickel, aged, vintage? They look great!
