@@casshernsins8333 I'm pretty sure I would have loved it before it was popular. Infact I'm often put off when something is too popular lol, but jojo is my favourite anime for sure, there is just nothing else like it
I think the reason why people latched onto Jojo so hard is that it's pretty unlike most manga and anime, which allowed it to have a wider spread. People seem to enjoy it without the burden of people feeling embarrassed watching it because it's anime due to its vast western influence. By Jojolion the art of the manga is pretty distinctly not anime-like, there is a massive emphasis on the facial structure which tries to replicate reality as oppose to exaggerating certain features for appeal. Show the manga art and people might assume it's some indie french comic or something.
This 1000%! It took me at least 3 different tries to get into JoJo. I remember first trying it while I was still getting into anime/manga so my tastes were strictly mainstream in the mid-2000s. It was too "out there" for my liking. Then when the 2012 anime came out I was interested but I still felt it was too much. And then for some reason like 4 years ago once after I watched like a 100 different series; I tried again after my best friend was referencing it every 5 minutes. And for some reason I got hooked completely. I think the memes was one thing, but I think by that time I was so used to traditional anime tropes and formatting that JoJo was this breath of fresh air. It played with cliches and was just outright insane to the point that it was satisfying my need for watching a unique action piece.

I think JoJo is the perfect anime to rejuvenate your interest in the genere. I would never recommend JoJo to people as their first series, because it's too unique. I think it's perfect after you've kind lived with anime for a good amount of time to the point that you understand the core of it. Anime obviously has this general feel to it (storytelling patterns, aesthetic, tropes, themes), and after you've watched a bunch of different shows you get kind of a "samey" feel to them. But JoJo is such an insane concept that it kind of births something weird in you. Like you'd probably find the story to be weird, the powers to be too nonsensical, and the pacing to be confusing but somewhere along the ride (probably Joseph, or the end of Stardust Crusaders) you just get invested in it.

Imagine if Shrek didn’t have All Star, or Holding Out For A Hero, or a universe that doesn’t make fun of Disney’s aesop fables. Think about it. The fact that Araki included references to his Western-heavy song playlists and pop culture references meant that it gave Western audiences a completely new perspective on how to enjoy their music. Agree. I watched it because of the memes. I think the first episode i watched was episode where Rohan fights against Boys II Men. So far JJBA is a great experience.
Memes aren’t even what got me to try it, tho I admit they’re definitely everywhere. I was first introduced to JoJo from a top 10 anime villain video, don’t remember which RUclips channel it was from, but it had the scene from part one of them fighting Dio with him using his freezing ability and then just calmly healing after being split in half. I didn’t immediately watch it, but after some time on Crunchyroll, back when I had ads, I’d always see that trailer for part three and eventually said fuck it, I’ll watch, and watched it with my brother. And got into it just in time for part 4 to release not to long after I got done with 3. And now I’m here.
I remembered end up watching Jojo because of meme and end up binged from part one to three and rejoiced when part four and five being adapted. NOW STONE OCEAN IS ANIMATED LET'S GOOOO
Ironically i got into JoJo way before seeing the memes, i was looking for "mature" anime aka EDGE. xD (Found Psycho Pass at that time and i absolutely love it!) then found JoJo but it didn't click until friggin Jotaro showed up, NOW i can see style mixed with the Kenshiro kind of art style and i love that so much! Before that i used to see some JoJo here and there in the old OG youtube from youtube poop channels and maybe clips of the arcade they have in japan of part 3 (played it in tokyo, really hard to do combos with stands out coz stands can get hit)
I feel like people just like showing off unique things and JoJo is exactly that. I prefered when JoJo was more niche tbh, Because the fandom wasn't as... silly, back then in my experience.
I’d say most of jojo fans now are because people bandwagon on the popularity train (not saying they can’t enjoy it). I knew a bunch of people that thought jojo was lame and weird when I recommended it to them years before it blew up in popularity. Now they are big jojo fans
For me, the only better part of JoJo on manga is Part 4, because they cut so much stuff at the end (They cut a lot of my favorite match, that was Rohan vs the dude on his back). Part 1 and 2 WAY better on anime, specially because of the effects and Part 3 i firstly watched the OVAs on like 2009 i really liked it (that's why i started the series), but on manga i was SO BORED BECAUSE OF THE EPISODIC NATURE, but when it became an anime, i watched it week after week and it was fenomenal. You can't get tired of the part when you docify it on 1 episode per week or day, because every fight it's a mistery and the fun part about that is that you get hooked (like when i watched Detective Conan on TV). On the other hand, Part 5 was ok on the manga but the anime did it SO MUCH BETTER. I remmember that back then we could only read the Duwang scans dude...

I remembered end up watching Jojo because of meme and end up binged from part one to three and rejoiced when part four and five being adapted.
NOW STONE OCEAN IS ANIMATED LET'S GOOOO
It definitely blew up as a result of Golden wind
“It wasn’t memed until part 3” Imagine not being exposed to jojos through iFunny when it was memed in part 1 as a 12 year old
I mean I definitely remember to be continued memes but that may have been people going back after part 3 and finding it
Ironically i got into JoJo way before seeing the memes, i was looking for "mature" anime aka EDGE. xD (Found Psycho Pass at that time and i absolutely love it!) then found JoJo but it didn't click until friggin Jotaro showed up, NOW i can see style mixed with the Kenshiro kind of art style and i love that so much!
Before that i used to see some JoJo here and there in the old OG youtube from youtube poop channels and maybe clips of the arcade they have in japan of part 3 (played it in tokyo, really hard to do combos with stands out coz stands can get hit)
Lmao who’s gonna tell him the official translations will be updated with part 6 😂
I’d say that’s half true, jojo’s got big in the west because of memes in Japan however it was already pretty well known
I mean. Part 1 has speedwagon
The only reason I got into JoJo's was because for some reason, I saw the pillar awaken sequence
bloody tears ost is cool
JoJolion has been going for 10 years so I don't think its that early for it to end.
10 years ain't long?👀
@@Yasu-fy1ig Joey said he was surprised it was ending this soon. I think its been long enough.
I can relate so much on Grant there whose never read the manga and can't fit in the conversation about the next few parts
grant? Lmao
I knew about JoJo before the 2012 Anime because of the OVAs.
Wait! is this video a jojo reference?!
I thought Jojo was a comedy anime and then my bros told me it has its plot.
memes became popular because of JOJO
I remember hearing about Jojo in 2015 when i was browsing a hot topic because a worker there told me about it
In poland they just started releasing part 3 :(
ROUNDABOUT
The memes actually made me drop Jojo altogether.
why tho? the fan culture shouldn't affect how you feel about the show
@@shahar9452 Because the memes spolied it, and we're annoying.
@@TheSonic497 oh i get that😭 jojo is probably the only show where i knew about every single death scene from the start and there's a lot of these
Dio just single handedly carry the whole jojo meme
They forgot the "To be continued" meme.
I remember Jojo has *always* been on the internet, it's literally been around since before it existed
Actually this is a fact. The surrealism of JJBA had made our brains ascended on to a whole new level. Hirohiko Araki is a genius!
I definitely got into JoJo through the memes, and I am so happy that I did. Too bad I couldn't convince my friends to give it a shot yet
The memes and references were just the icing on the cake to what was already a masterpiece anime
The UI goku theme is the meme theme of dragon ball without a doubt
There was a Jo Jo AMV using prince song p control
I've seen tons of people disliking jojo because of the memes
1. Steel Ball Run
2. Diamond Is Unbreakable
3. Golden Wind
4. Stardust Crusaders
5. Stone Ocean
6. Battle Tendency
7. Phantom Blood
Haven’t read Jojolion.
Read Jojolion it's so good. Literally my 2nd fav part. Plus all JoJolion Memes are peak jojo memes
That feeling when you remember JoJo memes have been a thing since 2005.
Muda da
MuuuDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDA
*Z A W A R U D O*
TOKI WO TOMAE
Soshite toki wo ugokidasu
ROADOROLLER DA
WRRRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Part 4 to me is like "G, what an idiot" untill we meet Rohan (except for Jotaro) and then everything is bery good.
Everything is a jojo refrence
I would be lying if I said I only watched through part 1-4 to find out who tf Giorno was and why his theme is so good
I'm about to finish Part 3(anime), is part 4 good, should I watchit? Who is the MC related to? :)
For me thanks to netflix all 5 parts were available so i binged it in a month.
