So, I used to work at this Dine in Pizza Hut. From Aug 1991 til June 1992. I was making $4.25 an hour (min wage). I was a dishwasher and a cook. I liked the cook position better evidently. My boss was a cheapskate. It took them 10 months for me to finally get a little recognition for my quality work. And even more insulting. AN 8 CENT RAISE! 8 cents..... REALLY? I stayed with this job until I got a new one at a laboratory. I started at $5.50 an hour which I liked!
I'm fascinated by 80's-90's life in the USA. Don't know why.
Your channel is fantastic !!
Spudboy41 welcome to my time machine (my channel). Hop in for more trips to other 80s and 90s destinations!
Gil, you should re name your channel "Gil's 1980s V-Log Time Machine"
Same 😂😍❤❤❤❤

the 90s seemed like a much happier time
luis anaya it was ✌🏾✌🏾✌🏾
It definitely was my parents talk about how it was much more easier, simple and happier
Much windier too
Ahhh a time before little boys dressed like little girls and before everyone got offended by a hat....

When I was in Elementary school, we had this thing called a book-it club. And after you read so many books you earned a free personalized pan pizza. I remember going up there after school getting my personal pan. It was so delicious, idk why Pizza Hut used to have amazing food, now it's not nearly the same.
Lol i remember getting certificates for personal pans alot when i was a kid
Oh shit I remember that now only because you reminded me
J Wade was here... damn I had the book it club to back then completely forgot about. Good shit!
Where did you go Sequoia Junior High??
@@kell4524 no I grew up in Florida. We had the book-it club over here.
Legend has it that Gilbert can still be spoted to this day cruising fontana in his 1984 Mazda 626 lx 😃😃😃
Well I do occasionally cruise there! Haha. And I do have a 1984 Mercury Marquis
You look like a famous actor
These videos are the best. When nobody is trying to be funny or do something. Just living life. They probably seemed so boring when he made them, but after 30 years they become fascinating because you're seeing a different time of your life. Almost like a time machine.
well you know something, if he thought it was boring he wouldn't have made them!
I remember those dine ins...back then it seemed like this pizza was like some gourmet shit lol...i used to love the random pac man video games in restaurant
For me it was the simpsons game
@@SouthCalifas619 facts

Yep nowadays the pizza huts are all carryout only! I used to go to a pizza inn, they seating inside, arcade games and a jukebox!
My birthday at 4:24, I turned 9 that year. God I’m so glad I got to witness the late 80’s and early 90’s.
Man I remember when Fontana looked like that, now it’s over populated like the rest of SoCal
*OMG! Who remembers that Pizza hut a buffet?!*
Hello Gilbert =) I came across this video you created back in 1991 WOW! I cant believe it I worked there from Nov 1993 til May 1995. When I started there I got $4.25 an hour lol. I only recognized two people but cant remember there names The Korean lady she was the waitress and the white guy the shift manager, he was a doosh lol. My name is Mark thanks for uploading this video it brings back a lot of memories.
WOW! Did you really work at this particular Pizza Hut? One guy I remember, his name was Martin
That korean girl was Younghi and the 4 managers I remember was Jeff B, James Sled, Smitty, and Patricia (the big lady) Jeff was pretty demanding and was cheap. But also he had a bad cancer which killed him. Smitty was a quiet older guy but nice! James and Pat were really nice (to me anyway)
Sarah fits perfectly in 2020.
At 9:03 Sarah ) She was so open minded you can tell she gets along well with people
I wished I could have met her I was in fontana at the time..she would have made a great girlfriend..
I'm so glad for 13:37. Allows me to see the quality of food from the 90s. I was also born in 91. I feel like food then was better than today.
People seemed much more innocent and overall happier back then.
"seemed like" is right. We think back to the 90s as some beautiful time but in reality the crime rate at least in the US was more than double what it is now. Moreso in California.
Truly was the last of the “good ole days” before the internet
pre 9/11
Porn wasn’t so easy to get back then plus social media didn’t exist so yeah

29 years later.... coronavirus !!!
That impersonation of Gilbert that his boss did was so spot on!
This makes me want to order pizza hut and watch Terminator 2.
Do it.
Grew up in the 90s. Thanks for sharing these videos. I actually was looking for something just like this to take me back. I didn't grow up anywhere near this area. But the times sure do bring me back.
Crazy, That was the only pizza hut in Fontana. I remember walking the railroad tracks west from Tamarind street to use my book it coupon.
Do they still have book it coupons? I remember having those as a kid.
I love you’re old school videos man takes me way back.👍😀
I remember going to this dine in pizza hut for my birthday in Fontana back in 96 and 98
man those were good times
This is why our phones can't take this kind of old school realistic quality video!! Love it!!!
absolutely legendary, you were another late 80's early 90's vlogger before it was a thing. I personally love how you just filmed everything you did back in the day n still do to this day? Can't think of anyone else who would do so. I enjoy looking at all your vlog footage from the 80's n 90's ..... i think you should upload more stuff from 1992 but thats just my personal opinion
I would be that too when i was little. So i can see it later when im older. But at that time after a while it was "im not gonna care watching me eat pizza. Talk my nonsense about the world n what i did." Now i miss that. I wish i could see my mental state n thinking then and how simple and beautiful everything was... because i would have parts of my mom interacting with me... i wish i had kept those videos so i can play them back and see the love i had gotten when little, and now it seems i have to trade something to get that feeling back.
@@ivaldez126 Dammm so true
I love Gilbert, you are awesome and I am watching your videos during lockdown sitting at home and having nostalgia..lol
You look dope in that work uniform. The forwards hat makes you look like a 90s rapper.
I love the girl doing the church lady impersonation LOL
Yes, she was into church and the lord. The girl mixing in the tomato paste from those cans. (that's the one you are talking about, right?) Her name was Marinatha. She was nice!
Gilbert Arciniega do you still talk to them
Marinatha seems like she was a very sweet girl and I love her giggle, too. Not many ladies like that anymore or if you can find one, it would surely be are a rarity.
Lived in West Covina near Nogales & Valley back in the day.
@@22013 omg!u took the words outta my mouth,i was gonna ask the same question 😂😂😂😂😂
No matter what I still record stuff with a camcorder of 2017..because I like the feel of the old days and like longer videos. You can record with a smartphone and but not for 26 mins straight because they power runs out.
Most importantly, the issue with storage space running out 😤😭
I was 5 years old living 19 miles away in San Bernardino when this was filmed. Can't help but think what my family was doing during the same time of this being filmed lol.
Life was basic and so much better back then.
what great videos, i wish i'd had a camara when i was a kid. i would love to be able to watch videos of my friends from the 80s. i just found your channel.
subbed.

Another great video Gilbert! Funny, I worked at a pizza place at that same time period!
That Gilbert impression was so spot on hahahaha was that your old pizza hut manager?
Wow the year I was born...am now watching it as if I were 32 at that time
These videos are so awesome!
I love seeing these old videos. I miss those days.
I remember that Pizza Hut. Right at the train tracks. So good. The opening shots of this video...is that SouthRidge? We moved into SouthRidge in December of '85. All was new back then. The entire community.
You still in Fontana? Been here since 95 and alot has changed like a whole new city.
cool dude still here. Since December of ‘85...same neighborhood....
i believe the opening clips were a bit more north of south ridge :) looks almost like north fontana if im not mistaken
We need to make a movie of working in the food industry in the 90s before social media
Thank you so much for these! You are rad
Back then Pizza Hut was good. Now it's the worse.
What's wrong with Pizza hut now?
@@Blue-Apple-fc9eo ah, the ingredients! Remember the pan pizza came in the black cast iron skillet? It was Soo good. But that's everything. I think fast food was actually food at one point in time. Now it's a science project and the people notice.
@@saucebands4460 I mean not really it's just food just eat it And a plus I'm 14 years old so I don't really understand it.
@@Blue-Apple-fc9eo Oh, I see. Most of it is immatation food. I worked in a building that had a Wendy's/Arby's food science lab in the basement. Scientice make fast food, not farmers. Learn how to cook and eat at home. Fresh organic food.
@@saucebands4460 it doesn't have to be organic food or non-organic food just enjoy the food and it's pretty cool that you work on Arby's and stuff.
I’m happy you had so much positivity around you.
This is pretty cool. I grew up in Fontana in the 80s and ate at that location a few times for parties. I remember that Pizza Hut was next to a big brick building that had a checkered board logo painted on it that reminded me of the Purina animal food logo. I just also remember that area seemed old as if it was unchanged from the 60s. I drive by recently and it’s all modernized now.
Sarah was ready to go all the way. Where is she these days?
Love your videos Gilbert!
This is Genius filming ..because who knew it would be so Intriguing to watch the old days
I remember that Pizza Hut! The one next to the train tracks!?!? There was also a feed store down the street there. Now it’s a senior center I believe. Thanks for sharing!
Gilbert went to work and all he did was record lol you're more of the boss in there
👍👍😂😂
Man I Love your vids I got bad memories of those years growing up in Fontana but also some good memories that I cherish I lost a few friends during that time hey anyways I remember that Pizza Hut on Sierra and Orange it’s no longer there thanks for posting bro

and we consumers survived nonetheless
Mad Ammo -you forget it was a different time back then. L.o.L
The only thing that sucked about the good ol' days, how ignorant we were when it comes to safety and our planet earth "but we survived/didn't die blah blah", but man, do I miss the 90s! 80s seemed as great as the 90s. 2010s and on sucks so much! 2000s were good too.
Awesome video! Thank you!

funny video, reminds me of my first job.
Damn, that woman said, “there’s no one hornier than me” damn!!! Lol
1991 was really unbelievable fun year wow!!
Man fontana has changed so much. I remember the open fields. Nothing but warehouses now.
When people were real and authentic!
Tonight’s a very good night for PIZZA!!
Bruh I was like 3 going on 4 when ya'll filmed this. That's wild. 😂
Damn those birds looked good lucky guy
I wonder where all these people that worked there are right now?
Guy was such ahead of his time lol
I do a fake cough when I’m about to do something risky or doing something that makes me a lil nervous . Gil has the sniffle and the caugh , it’s funny throughout some off the videos a couple people asked you “are you sick or something “and times you go along with it and say “I got a cold” 😂😂😂💀. Everyone has a tick even if it’s not noticeable to others.
6:08 Dope video transition, Gilbert!
priceless gilbert- peoples minds don't change they still chase te D or the P
I remember going to this pizza hut about this time with my parents as a kid. Still remember playing the superman arcade cabinet and eating shitty pizza fondly. And hearing the wind in the opening really brings back memories of fontucky too. That fucking wind.
I use to go to the one on foothill and pepper I believe in Rialto,CA with my grandpa almost every Saturday after helping him out good old times
You lived in the Covina area like I did you moved to fontana like I did
And now you're in San bernardino area where my dad is living it seems we are following close by...
ANYWAYS YOU CREATE GREAT VIDS OF LIFE HISTORY THAT HASN'T BEEN MUCH RECORDED FROM MANY PEOPLE. .WHO DO VIDEO TAPING THE WAY YOU HAVE. ...
DO YOU HAVE ANY OF 1985 IN WEST COVINA CA, AREA?
