Just saw Gigi Edgley give a panel talk today at Happy Valley Comicon. She still looks gorgeous as ever. Chiana in our hearts!
I fell in love with Chiana in her first scene in Durka Returns when it aired originally on Sci-Fi and prayed she would stick around. I was so glad she did!
Years ago, I was flipping through channels and caught a minute or two of a Farscape episode and Chiana really struck me. I made a mental note to some day look into the show. It wasn't until years later I started to watch Farscape from the beginning, but my life was changed after that. Thanks, Gigi.

“I can only let go when I’m safe..” Wow…. I can wholly understand that feeling, sadly. Kinda liiike..How it’s easier for me to fall asleep when my door is locked (and that my dog would wake me up barking if there was a threat).
Before I go on to the part 2, I will add my 2 credits worth so if this is cobblers, don't worry. I feel from an early edge that men desired her sexually and she learned to used that as a weapon and a shield. It's a major part of her personal toolbox that helps her cope. She's learned no one takes her seriously, if they notice her at all, unless she is the 'monochrome minx'.
There is a line after the crew get back together after they split where Crichton asks her what happened to her during the time they were all apart. She replies with something like "The usual you know, a little rape, a little torture". He doesn't appear shocked or defensive, to him it's almost as if she had replied "Oh I took the dog for a walk". He heard it, he understood it, he just doesn't seem to care.
I think that's spot on about Chiana. Her behavior in the last few episodes in Season 1 really show that sexuality is a shield and weapon for her. There's that scene in "Family Ties" in which Chiana sincerely believes the best way to theank Crichton is by a sex act. She moderates over the course of the cycles, but it never entirely chanegs for her.
Didn't she once briefly try to seduce Scorpy? He swiftly rejected her with a growl, but still, considering the kind of stuff he's into, she might've been in for a bit of a shock if he'd accepted her offer.
I seem to remember she made a half-hearted attempt, yes. I will have to find that. Thanks for mentioning it.
He'd need a case full of Coolant rods to keep up with beautiful Chiana.
He isn't free to be sexual .....his body is ....unable. I think he knows that. That's why he developed the other kind of sex.
It was when everyone's personalities were heightened. Her libido was in overdrive and she went after Crichton and Scorpius walked in. She invited him to watch and then got all up in his space as she walked by. He def rejected her lol

To this day I've never felt so betrayed by a fictional character than when Chiana cheated on D'Argo with his own son. I was so surprised and hurt.
Not just because her actions destroyed the relationship between her and D'Argo but also his relationship with his son that he finally found and got back in his life.
You can identify each of the 7 Deadly Sins and each of the 7 Chakra personality types in the Farscape primary characters. Chiana isn’t a bad person, she just thinks through the lens of Lust and Desire.

Chiana risks herself many times to help rescue the others, including Pilot and Moya, from dark situations She becomes devoted to the crew and even tries to patch things up btw John and Aeryn. She clearly had to survive in her early years by sex and her wits. She is filled with loyalty.
Yes, I love how much Chiana softened and matured as she grew to feel accepted and safe.

Love this channel, love the show(man do I love it), also love Chiana. Still, you cheat on a person whoever you are and you are a Tralk. She is my favorite Tralk but still, doesn't matter if D'argo is pigheaded and stubborn. Jothee is also a Tralk. He is worse, it was his dad. Jothee is the only Farscape character I DO NOT like. I could be friends with Pip, but I would never really trust her. This might be harsh but its how I feel.
Very well said. Yes, I say in my video on D'Argo that Jothee had no excuse for betraying his father. The comics don't focus on him much, FWIW.
@@FarscapeContinues I may just have to check them out. I haven't heard much about them until now. We see our favorite shows and series ruined so often. After watching about 6 or 7 of your videos seems like you would be a good judge. I will let you know how it goes, it would be amazing to read the comics only for them to bring back the show sometime soon.
OK I'm not going to comment until the end of your second video because I'm very interested in this thesis. Chiana, without doubt, was my least favorite character on the show... By the way, I just found your channel tonight, and so far I'm loving your analysis of each character from one of my favorite shows as a kid.

Talika was a predator but not a sexual one. Her species magnified and consumed the dominant personality trait of each crew member. So John got super confident and D’Argo became more aggressive. Aeryn became more no nonsense PK chick and Chiana turned into even more of a sex fiend than usual. Then once Talika “harvested” them, John couldn’t make a decision to save his soul, D’Argo was a weepy mess, Aeryn was suffering from anxiety and Chiana had zero sex drive. It was almost as much fun as the mind swap in the episode Out Of Their Minds.
Does Chiana ever close her mouth!? Or is this "acting".
