I don’t like how it’s supposed to be a joke horror game but is downright terrifying this whole thing feels like a david lynch video game
The scenery and ambience actually sent a chill down my neck at one point, and that was without seeing any monsters or scares

ABG finds a fish dying on the ground. He picks up the fish, makes sure nobody is watching, then proceeds to smack the fish several times with a golf club. He then throws the fishes corpse into a well. The rest of the game is punishment for his sins

I remember there being a color theory for games. One of the scariest colors for a game or its atmosphere is purple. Reason why is because it gives an unsettling vibe to it, like how the devs did here. It feels unsettling and it's fear inducing, an added bonus of fear from the golf man.

I don’t remember much considering I think I read this from years ago and never thought of it since
I thought red would be a more fear inducing colour due to its association with blood and the devil.

plus, purple seems to be right to get that unnatural otherworldly feel without being too overbearing or out of place

@@coronacola7858 I don't think so, although I'm sure they had something similar I doubt that prehistoric hunter gatherers had an idea of the devil as we do today and associated him with the colour red no less, and I feel like red is too common a colour to be associated with blood, many plants are red, sunsets are red, and even if red was associated with blood that wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing since if a hunter gatherer saw blood it would more likely than not be the blood of prey i.e. food.

Ha. Wilhelm scream aside, the sound design for this game is rather good, including Mr. Golfy having at least a few different lines to react to you. I made the mistake of linking his creepiness primarily due to the limited sight of the other world that he's introduced in, but then 15:20 happened. Turns out that "limited sight" includes being forced to look at the ground, which the game forces you do quite a lot. Whoops.
The game did start to drag a bit for me when the trout with legs was introduced though, after which I was reminded that the real terror of this weird game was that it forces you to actually play golf. Brrr. Still, this is a cool if bizarre concept that really shouldn't work as well as it does.

Really whimsical unique game with a very creepy antagonist and superb atmosphere, not to mention well-implemented golfing ;). I do think that tense music should play when the trout or Mr. Golfy chase you though.

I always love indie games like this. I may not like to play them that much but they are enjoyable for what they are. the fact you can actually play the mini golf is pretty cool though, somehow I wasn't expecting that.

This game is just weird and zany enough to sweep away its roughness around the edges, plus the golf mascot guy's design is legitimately kind of scary. It's a unique concept for a horror title, and you're not limited by the things you can smack with the golf club. Overall it's a lot better than I expected it to be, so well done to the devs.

If this were not described as a horror game, I would find the golf-ball guy disturbing indeed.
However, knowing this is supposed to be a horror game makes him seem lightly less disturbing to me. He's even somewhat 'cute' in a way, though I wouldn't exactly adopt him.
This genuinely scared the shit out of me a few times
