Thanks for sharing your findings, it's great to know the Kings perform so well against the high-end panels. I'm putting together a campervan and I'll be using Kings solar for sure. You've saved me quite a lot of money.
Hi Buck. Good test results yes the sun was not in the perfect spot. But let's face it it's only it that spot for a short time the sun moves so yes your test is a real time test. Awesome work mate. Go Kings
Lovely ep and comparison go Rafa, Good on you for buying some product to test, I reckon you give a more Honest opinion if you buy the product, IMO, As a writer for Bush and beach fishing Mag for around 20 years I use buy product at cost price and I always gave it a better review as i got it cheaper., Now I have a small RUclips channel I never review a product unless I pay full price for that product I Am more Honest that way. , A lot to do with panels performance is there age as they drop performance every 12 months, We love all our Kings gear,
Great comparison Buck, your right its about like for like conditions not absolute output. Time of the year and things like smoke haze will all reduce the max output. Also solar panel efficiency is improving all the time, so newer panels with newer technology will make a difference. Keep them coming Buck. Cheers
Another great video Buck, You have inspired me to go and test my Allpowers 200w panel again and see how it goes now the sun is a little higher at this time of year as the best I could get was 86w at the Legends camp out.
This isn’t going to work as the battery is at 98% and the input is only tricking in at 42w I’ll have to run the battery down. It came up to 98w but it’s almost fully charged 99% Another day.
Back again Buck. I have had 2x250w cheap ebay panels on the canopy of my Ute & have been out for 9 years one of those is 14 years old and still going strong.
@@MW-ib5rb Solar panels usually produce more that 12 volts which is why a regulator is used for battery input. Doesn't this mean that we also need to know what voltage the panels are producing if we want a meaningful comparison?
I had a 200W Kings set that I bought about 3 years ago and I never saw more than 100W outa the bastards. Binned them and replaced with Itechworld ... big improvement!
Bucks .. When you join panels you don't add up the figures like that .. Depending if you do series or parallel.. You can add the volts and the amps goes by the lager panel .. Or you add the amps and the volts goes to the larger panel . So When linking is best practice to use 2 identical panels ..
The individual figures matched the figures when I joined them both mate. The Kings was putting out 13.5 amps. The Kickass 10 amps. I joined them and got 23.8.
@@Mrbuckaroonie.. Correct Buck ..Because you have hooked up in parallel.. So the Amps adds up .. But volts will be the same as the lesser panel.. If you join in series the Volts adds up but the Amps will be that of the lesser panel.. Sorry if I didn't explain myself correctly.. If the cable is over a longer distance I prefer Series connection to help remove some of the voltage drop .. I Love you videos and how you give good honest feedback.. But if the famous law suit goes through we may all be silenced forever more .. In my opinion.. Apparently that's what you have to constantly say now to help protect yourself.. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great comparison amps and wattage does very depending on angles time of year time of day but a pretty fair comparison though quick way to work amps is dividing watts by 12 eg 79 divided by 12 = 6.85 amps
It's the amps in that we need, compare to amps used, ie if you can put in more amps than using you've won the solar game. I use king's panels, best value/power overall. Also just got a king's package deal on their caravan awning mat, salesgirl told me about it, saved $31 and got a handy work light for free.
Hey Buck I have the kickass 200 watt thin panels and I regularly get 180 watts in full sun. I think the main thing is that they are producing the 10 amps stated on the instructions. Lots of variables come in to play testing solar and I thought you did an honest comparison test.
I get around 12ish amps in good sun mate . I'll check it out tomorrow for wattage before the GF . The only thing wrong with the Kickass is that it's bulky and heavy for what it is . I actually tried to get your Kings setup and they couldn't come close to your price . They said it was a day to day thing Looks good though mate . Like you I've solar panels just piling up . Light , easy setup and reasonable performance is all I want . Get back to you mate .
Great comparison buck, very surprised about kick arse, should be better, yes kings gear definitely getting better, got some 9" spotties last week, ill definitely be getting kings solar panels at that $$$
Just make sure if you are plugging two different solar panels in you don’t go over the maximum voltage for your regulator otherwise you could damage it
I've a fairly new kickass 200 W and it rates the same as your Kings Buck . They're heavy and take up a bit of space in the DOT. The Kings look excellent value for money mate . Think I'll lash out on a set . Great post Buck .
I'll fire it up tomorrow if it's sunny Buck . I've never v er really worried about wattage just amps as I know what various equipment uses in amps but I'll check it out mate .
Hi buck. Just watched and enjoyed the video. I jumped on kings website straight after for the bundle. It was 298 and not 159 as you paid. Would be cheaper buy in carins and ship to Melbourne.
Sorry mate. It was $258.90. I just checked the receipt. Panels 200w plus canvas bag plus 6m lead. Cheaper than if you buy it separately. Kings prices go up and down like a yoyo.
@Mrbuckaroonie.. thanks mate. Will go and get a bundle tomorrow. Still not a bad price. Compare it to redarc or some other brands. Keep up the good work. Oh and go the storm for Sunday.
Hey Buck, a while back you did a review of a gas BBQ come oven! For the life of me I can't find it on the channel, can you point me in the right direction? Thanks
So some things for comparison. Jackery 79w =6.6A x 11.97V Rydge Ryder 73w = 6.3A x 11.58V Kickass 200 115w = 10A x 11.5V Kings 165w = 13.5A x 12.2V Not that it makes a lot of difference but your battery was flat by those voltages.!! 🤣🤣🤣 Other thing is joining two panels together in parrallel. The lowest voltage panel will reduce the voltage of the other panel, which in turn effects the current. So the combined amperage was actually 23.5A but you got around 21.5A. That is not too bad really considering they are two different panels. The Kickass is using 4 panels and the kings is using 2, so they are bound to have different voltages. Had to guess a little to work out the wattage of your last test. Assumed the voltage was around 12v? 258w = 21.5A x 12v
All I know is the Kickass panels are not up to speed for their size and weight. I don't know what is wrong with them. Some people reckon one of the four panels may not be working. I might ask an auto electrician to see if there is a way he can test them to see if they are working properly.
So you want to try 2 different panels input to the one regulator. Sorry Buck but I've read that if you mix solar panels with different voltage outputs that the higher voltage panel will reduce to meet the lower voltage ( hence lower amp) panel. How about testing that theory? Temp does affect output. I've noticed here in Brisbane solar blankets perform better in winter/ low sun than higher sun same time (higher temp) in north Queensland. Love your unbiased opinion.
Yes I ran the batteries right down mate so they bulk charge. Both the jackery and 120AH Lithium were fairly low so i wasn't dealing with the absorption stage. I wanted bulk stage so I got max amps and watts
Get another splitter or two and take them all😊,it comes down to room and weight in the end. I got a Rydge rider 200w from super cheap ages ago after your first clip and couldn’t be happier,I also got the splitter at the same time thinking that if needed I would just buy the second blanket, but so far it hasn’t been required 👍👍. If you have the room and money and in the market for a blanket check out the new all powers 600w or bluetti,s 420w . Although you may need to take out a personal loan to buy them 😂😂. Still a big fan of our new 300ah kings lithium battery 👍👍❤️🇦🇺

The way it works is If you have 2 identical panels, you should see double the individual panel wattage and amps but if you have 2 panels that are different wattages like a 100w and a 120w. Just remember the Kings panels don't come fitted with a regulator. You can get them as an optional extra mate.
@Mrbuckaroonie.. yep, thanks for the heads up
Love these videos. Reminds me of the one you did years ago with comparing the different camping fridges.
I bought a King's foldable solar panel years ago and it's still going strong feeding by AGM batt box in the shed, battery always around 13.7v.
Liking this series of how to' o stuff and reviews like this one well done Buck. Keep up the great work

Thanks mate. yeah the kickass are older panels for sure.
Maybe you can place the smaller panels on the front of the Panel that stand alone at an angle. But great video overall thanks Cobba.
The best angle for your solar panels is the same angle of latitude. So for you up north it would be 17.5 degrees which is actually fairly flat
You are a wealth of knowledge.
Another great video Buck,
You have inspired me to go and test my Allpowers 200w panel again and see how it goes now the sun is a little higher at this time of year as the best I could get was 86w at the Legends camp out.
Yeah if you want close to 200w, you need perfect conditions.

Hey buck , watts = amps x volts
Eg 10 amp x 12 v = 120 w .
Amps = watts ÷ volts .
Eg 120w ÷ 12v = 10 amp , nice video mate .

Buck, try a wash for the Kickass, they may just have a layer of dust on them.
They were clean mate. I hose them down all the time and they don't go out camping with me anymore.

Yeah mate they were clean. The Kickass and jackery have a ripple effect so they were hosed down.
To do really far comparison you soc should be the same for every test
As the battery charges the amps drop off and the voltage goes up
That is why I ran them down mate so they bulk charge. That is as fair I I could do.
you pay for what you get, cheap is shit wont last anytime
Solar blankets never work like they should unfortunately
One of the panels on the kickass could be out or dudded
Yeah maybe mate. Not sure how to check that.
