    I went extremely curated in the past year. I went back to school to get my Masters and I live an uber simple. I appreciate just having what I need to get through my day, and I have learned a lot about where I want to spend my energy, time and money. I deleted my social media, many people slipped away because I am no longer a doormat for their issues. I have sold over 60% of my stuff and I learned to slow down. The Jone's? I am not even worried about them.

    I'll try to be brief. My ex-husband is a psycho medical doctor. I went through hell to protect and defend my kids and myself. Most lawyers and judges are ignorant and greedy people. After 20 years of living a nightmare, I lost my health and spent all my money (to conning lawyers and to provide for us). But! I woke up to a simpler life, learning what truly matters. I've been a full-time mom since their birth, so my kids and I have the most beautiful, strongest relationship I could dream of, and all the laughter and simple things we did/do together are a treasure I'll carry with me forever. I think I lost my train of thought🤣 please, forgive me🌺

      @Random Thoughts memorizing some laws is “easy”. I went to Law School. I worked for the Government. I've seen first-hand how corrupt and evil some of these people are!! How they abuse power and humiliate the ones in need. Wisdom, having true life experience and not just reading laws is completely different. Laws can be distorted according to one's belief. Being sexist, corrupt, a bad human being has nothing to do with reading a few books about Law. There are good, wise people in every profession, as there are bad, ignorant, prejudicious ones. Earning for a job you do is one thing. Deceiving and exploiting your client, who's already in a miserable situation is another. Defending children is one thing, defending a violent, abusive father or murderer is another. Every person/profession has its place and importance in the wheel of life. Imagine if all underpaid, “uneducated” garbage collector didn't exist...

      I completely understand. Family court professionals are not educated on coercive control and abuse, nor do they know how to recognize it. They just label both “high conflict” and basically condone ongoing abuse through their orders.
      We’ve been struggling for several years after another 6 figure trial. Health, finances, etc.,
      I think I understand what you mean by a simpler life, I’ve been fighting it for years now but it recently clicked. Looking forward to how embracing the change will enhance our lives.
      Hugs

    We still have a little one in our house (our other kids are grown) so we do buy a few Christmas gifts to put under the tree but they are intentional gifts. Otherwise, we like to do activities with our family so that we have memories from the experiences. We started traveling to fun places for Christmas (went to Rome and Paris for a few weeks for Christmas one year and it was the absolute best experience and Christmas that we've ever had). Of course, we haven't been able to travel for the last few years due to everything going on but we hope to resume soon. I would love to find out where you stayed during your 2 years of travel abroad. Airbnb? Hostels? Hotels? Was it expensive? Did you do any work exchanges to help fund the trip? We would love to do the same but aren't sure about the cost. Love your videos!

    • @ConnieRiet
      @ConnieRiet  2 года назад +2

      Hi Amy! Thanks so much for sharing your special memories with us.
      When we traveled we mostly stayed in Airbnb's longterm, (one month). We did a few house sitting jobs through Trusted Housesitter. This was really nice to see some smaller towns and have pets for a few weeks.
      No, slow traveling was very affordable. We treat travel as a lifestyle, not a vacation. We still cooked mostly at home. Rented small apartments outside of tourists zones. We only had a backpack, so we didn't buy anything unless it was to replace something we needed. We spend less money when we travel, than we do living full time in USA.
      If you have the chance to travel, DO IT!

    That big ol' RV is not something I would expect from a minimalist... what a huge carbon footprint hauling that all over the country!

    • @ConnieRiet
      @ConnieRiet  2 года назад +3

      Hi! Yes, our first RV was very large. It's funny how our lens has changed over many years of minimalism. At the time (8 years ago) the RV seemed so tiny when we were moving out of a 4 bedroom home. I only had the BIG RV for 4 months before we realized how big it was and downsized to an RV 1/2 the size. Life is filled with learning curves.
