Great Central Railway - Winter Steam Gala - Saturday 29th January 2022

- After missing 2021, the Winter Steam Gala at the Great Central Railway made a welcome return over the weekend of the 28th-30th January 2022. The event saw the usual mix of full length passenger trains mixed with local and goods trains utilising the home fleet, as well as two guest locos.
The first guest loco was BR Standard 4MT Tank No 80080, courtesy of the Princess Royal Class Locomotive Trust. The second guest loco was Bulleid Pacific Battle of Britain Class No 34072 '257 Squadron' courtesy of Southern Locomotives Ltd and the Swanage Railway.
The weather for the Saturday, while sunny for the vast majority of the day, was cold and very windy, which seems to have been quite common in the last few Winter Steam Galas on the GCR for me!
