Merchant this is hands down the best d&d show I've seen. Critical Role is great but it's not what d&d is at home. They're actors who are trained to play professional characters. But you guys are like us, just a bunch of friends shooting the shit playing d&d. But showing it can be fun and goofy while also approaching a serious plot with a deep rich lore and fantastic world built out. This is fantastic and I would absolutely love to run a campaign in this world. My players would love it and so would I. It would be great to get more information on the world, the lore, the places and people. This is great. Keep up the amazing work.

liked the switched name in the first bit. Also starting an episode of black blades past 11pm is a bad idea. I'll go take a long rest and then tomorrow cast "pick up where you left" and finish the episode.

So hilarious I wish all these campaigns continued (Curse of Strahd, Ravnica, and this one) the other two apparently ended but I hope this rotating group continues in some way. So delightful. I also started watching DnD with Critical Role and watching real buddies play DnD is so delightful

I cringe every time they require a espionage character when I have a changing/Doppelganger rogue assassin that specializes in that at the ready. And that means I’m cringing a lot. I know they already have a rogue but I see no problem in having two.
By the way merchant. Would you allow a Changeling or Doppelganger character?

Never tried it. Im creating my first campaign tho ive played before. As im starting a world and my players are my family who have never played. im creating NPCs to go along with them. I have a barbarian, monk, paladin, and warlock but havent created a rogue or ranger cause thats what they are going towards mostly. I say all this to ask what are doppelganger characters like
Jason Brown Well doppelgängers are monstrosities that can take form and voice of any humanoid they’ve seen or even combine features to create someone entirely new. Couple that with the ability to read minds, giving them adv on any Charisma checks, and you got one op shapeshifter that become anyone unless your specifically prepared to identify shapeshifters, this includes devils and certain spell casters. I personally find them and devils/very annoying because they end up throwing the party into complete paranoia on who they can trust. It also gives them a chance to seize and some how legally halt the party in some manner. Whether by taking the position of a guard captain to arrest them or even a king to have them executed. Devils/demon use a special blend of enchantment magic and shapeshifting powers. So they’re twice as annoying in and out of combat. Changelings are the unholy offspring of doppelgängers and regular humanoids, probably just them using their abilities. That are official playable race. The only thing that’s different between the two is one is considered a humanoid, perhaps because it doesn’t look like a giant alien fetus, and the other a monster and changings don’t get the op mind reading ability which isunderstandable but receive a but ton of other Charisma based features that make up for it. Changelings receive the same racist crap for being able to easily be a assassin, spy, or such as Dopplers. The other races aren’t wrong, but it’s not like changelings have much choice. And so are generally hunted down and killed. I’ve heard they can’t get pregnant but can be impregnate other races, no idea why, to continue their race. I’ve also seen recently in one campaign where changelings/doppelgängers are hunted down to be skinned to make disguise self magic item clothing. So yay, that’s changelings and doppelgängers for ya.
