I remember meeting a guy back in 1989, i was looking to put piping on my brand new BMW 5 series leather interior. Piping is the trim that go around the headrest and seats. Depends on where you go, it can cost from $1500-3k. This guy I met, asked me if I’ve ever herd of Boy George? I told him no. He told me he just finished doing the interior of BG 750 BMW in Ostrich skin and would I be interested in doing mine. At that time, I’ve never herd of a cars interior done in Ostrich skin. I followed him to his shop, that was somewhere in Mid Town Manhattan. He started showing me all the James Bond features the BMW had changing license plates, Oil slicks etc etc. Then we got to the interior, I kept steering at the Ostrich skin front seats. They were amazing!!! I asked how much? He said 7k. I was thinking to myself, that was pretty expensive. Remember. I had only thought about the 1,500-3k price tag for the piping. I kept thinking this Ostrich skin would be different, not many had interiors like this. I made up my mind to get the Ostrich skin, but before I could tell the guy yes. He tells me, 7k is for the front seats, the back seats are 11k. Even tho I was getting some money, this Boy George dude bag was different😂
18k for the interior, not counting sound system, spoiler kit, rims and all the bells and whistles he had done to that car. I’d say he spent about 50k on extras for that car, not counting the 70-80k price tag the BMW 750i cost from the dealer….

      ONE dude brought him down...
It was one of his Lieutenants. He opened the flood gates on George. Before that, he was untouchable. That's what ticked the local LEO's off. It wasn't that he was sloppy, his game was tight. They couldn't tie anything to him until one of his own crew turned on him.
That's why the Italians (the REAL Italians) don't bring anybody from outside the family into their business.
George trusted the wrong people and what's he going to learn from who he worked for? He was doing things they never could ever conceive. The parts you see in New Jack City where they show the Enterprise? That was Boy George. He bought buildings, had spots and used mailboxes to sell. He had the BLOCK on lookout (the entire block). Hired old ladies with no family to stamp the baggies with "Obsession", laced the kids to keep an eye out for him, had mad stashes of cash all over the place.
That's what people don't know about him.
And all before he turned 20 years old. He was barely getting started and since the Feds couldn't put a dent in the crack trade, they had to go after somebody big to make it look like they were competent. George was an easy target for them once they got his boy and turned him.
He wasn't more dangerous because of the drug he was pushin', he was more dangerous because of the level of organization he ran. He was the Bill Gates, the Elon Musk, the Warren Buffet of his time.

It’s no excuse to be a killer, at all, but as far as dealing is concerned, it was survival. Opportunities for young men of color in those times were next to zero, especially if you’re in a group home. Secondly, they def used him as a fall guy. Him and many others like him. The guns and drugs are not made in the hood, nor are they distributed into the hood by kids. Many other adults are culpable. Some work for the government. Lastly, 2 years is a blink of an eye.
