Everything that you pointed out in this video is what infuriates me about ea. Yet every year the exact same problems carry on. The fact that they are making a better ai a selling point on this year's game they better actually work on it. Because God forbid that they actually make the changes that the gaming community actually wants like the skills competition, gm connected ect. Instead of adding some stupid gimmick that nobody even asked for. I'm glad you've seen the same things that have been getting me mad for years.

It’s laughable how dumb EA thinks we are. They put this on rookie mode to showcase that the “new and improved” one timers work, meanwhile when the game is on all-star which is what online settings are, they will be back to robbing them every time like they are routine saves. These clips, even with being on rookie difficulty, are still cherry picked by EA as to what they show, and all this is showing is how bad the AI is. Like how are they willingly showing a new feature of an AI setting up to 1Tee the puck from behind the net and think “yep that’s good”. Let’s be real, the only noticeable change this game will have is the new vision control, and that alone isn’t enough to repair the damage that’s been done to this game and bring players back who have given up on the series. This game needs to be deleted from existence and return a few years down the road actually built from the ground up

don't think for a second that I want to defend EA, but even in the real life, at the highest level, we see some bad decisions from time to time. Not just in hockey (which is two - three time faster game than other team sports), but in soccer, basketball, etc...
Anyone that complains about questionable ai plays haven’t ever watched a sports game and especially not a hockey one. How many times a game I’m yelling “wtf is ____ doing? It’s actually fucking ridiculous. I don’t want “perfect” ai… it wouldn’t be realistic. Anything else that happens that doesn’t really happen in real life is just a video game not being perfect and then please point me to the perfect, flawless video game.
With the goalies in nhl. There is NO WAY that ea even talks to nhl goalies or goalie coaches. Like with the one tee from the point, no goalie ever and especially from the point is gonna be in their butterfly. (I’m a goalie so that’s why I can say this) also nhl goalies don’t give up these bad rebounds. If they wanna have a hyper realistic game than make the goalies realistic.
the fact that the game has been play tested, and it's released to public, in it's current state... is really all i need to know. lol i am like 80% certain i wont be buying it. unless i get it half off on discount.

The clip of the Jets 3v2 with Kyle Connor is the most egregious to me. Shows how nothing has changed at all. Seeing Mark Schiefele going far post and right into the blue paint to block another goal as he is covering the open net. Not too mention likely interfering with the goalie. It happens every year and nothing. Run the goalie and nothing. But again from a game that doesnt even have kickouts of faceoffs in the game... Perhaps they are playing on a lower difficulty aswell, which would lower the opponent AI skill. Either way, this won't change my opinion as my expectations are already on the floor. They can't make AIs worse than they are currently.
It shouldn't matter if they're playing on rookie. The defense should know how to cycle the puck amongst each other and should also know positioning and how to block a pass or stop a play the level shouldn't matter when it comes to them playing there position

I think the thing SOME (not all) people have to realize is that this is still a earlier build... obviosly they can't/won't rebuild the system but they can still tweak some things. They see the same stuff we see, so (imo) I think it's only fair to say its horrible outright until we have the game in our hands. But once again this is another great video!

Honestly the clip with the St.Louis blues And The Black Hawks is a perfect example of why to not buy this game. On defense every player is brain dead and they don't know how to get in position or to stay in position to pressure the puck.....As you said the center should of been trying to disrupt the play LIKE REAL LIFE at least swing your stick back and forth like your trying to play defense lol like come on now this is why i knew off bat the A.I was gonna be a joke i honestly don't see any improvement's in the A.I AT ALL other then offensively and that's even questionable

My first thought when they mentioned the AI being worked on from the ground up was that its going to take a few years for them to improve the AI lol most of the stuff you highlighted is in NHL 22, 23, 24 and now 25.

I was thinking of buying the game, but man F this, they just slapt a sticker whit 25 on 24 and it is the same as last year. I think they will do the same thing they did last year and remove all the features they added. NHL2K has to come back so they can start a competition, just one company making this game will go nowhere. I love Hockey and will always, but this just makes me sad as hell, angry at EA, i rather wait 2-4 years for new release then put my time and effort into this monstrosity. I watched the Video and decided here and now, I WILL AVOID THIS GAME, and hope for next year. Great video

id say some of these are realistic , some of them you're right the defender should be filling the gaps or on a man but in some of these its realistic to have one guy left alone, if you watch a lot of games, its like in real life when your telling the defender on the tv to get to their guy but they arent. Not everyone makes the right choices and mess up and the AI is clearly imitating that in some of these clips. I think they should fix having some of the guys that CLEARLY should be on the man but in other scenarios it looks realistic
the ai in the gameplay deep dive are on easy, that way EA can make sure they get the clips that they want to show off. so, I wouldn't be looking to deeply into any of this.
What I about to say is the reason ea doesn't care about these games. These newer nhl games suck there's no other nhl games I can play a gm mode on. I'm a huge hockey fan so I'm going to buy it every year "no matter what" fml

Imo this was a perfect video showing on the nonsense which is EA NHL AI. This is a huge thing for ppl who play games and don’t just use NHL for simulation game modes.
So bottom line with this game and a lot of these issues with the AI, in my opinion, is so we, as players get to score goals!! Releasing a game where its like NHL hard to score would be bad business. Not sure how many would buy a game where its really really hard to score. So i think they dumb down the AI to give gamers the spce to drive the net and score without getting poke checked, blocked or knocked off the puck. Now it's all conjecture, and could be just lazy design, but they want us to be able to score in dramatic fashion and deke and toe drag and everything else. But if anyone wants a super realistic game i get that too!!

Unless EA added an actual AI intelligence level to NHL 25, then the AI is still going to be random af

The game has difficulty modes for a reason, I want a harder game. The offline modes are a cake walk on superstar difficulty.

With the way EA has made FIFA and the new college football game we should expect to see a realistic game you don’t understand how much money and revenue they bring in EA brings in billions of billions of dollars there’s no reason why they can’t make an NHL game realistic
