- The Labour Leader Sir Keir Starmer has announced that Labour will spend nearly two billion pounds on upgrading Britain's ports. The money would come in part from his planned increase in the windfall tax on oil and gas companies.

Close tax loopholes, increase taxes on the rich, abolish non dom status, prosecute and fine tax dodging corporates like Apple, Amazon and Google with double what they've avoided paying. Renationalise utilities, especially water. Windfall tax on oil and gas companies. End 'charitable status' tax dodging by wealthy private schools.
That'll be a start, Kier, try it.
He will, but he can't do everything at once
I don’t think raising taxes on the rich is right, the top 1% already contribute 40% of tax receipts. Just get them to pay their fair share instead of siphoning it offshore and exploring loopholes. That would be fair.
@@bereal6590 Awwww, bless!
@@bereal6590 He won't, though. Labour's right is about status-quo
It's pure lies that they contribute 40%. They have every means of avoiding tax because they don't earn incomes like the rest of us
They need to be made to remember that when we were forced to bail out the banks we bailed out THEIR wealth which had imploded in value after they made very bad bets
Good to see the high viz tradition still going strong.
Tory boy Starmer finding it hard to roll up those sleeves.
Reduce the wealth gap!!
We have had enough of austerity
There has been no austerity, half the civil service could be sacked and no one would notice.
Unfortunately vote for a party that's for the rich that's what u get
Everyone is annoyed with greed and prime example is the waterboards and the companies
The rich know they are in trouble come the election because sunak is shitting himself. That's why he won't call the election so they can keep taking more money and selling more services off and people are not stupid to notice what's going on.
There's been massive austerity, that's why everything's falling apart. They got rid of half a million public sector workers, loads of police, decimated the army, privatised or outsourced what was left of public services, nearly 800 libraries closed
You just can't admit that we live in the most free market state in Europe and it's failed everyone but a tiny few
Renationalise all public services & run them not for profit. A country run by the people, for the people., helping the needy not the greedy.
You do know you actually have to buy the public utilities to nationalise them and we have to pay tax to do that
@@kingthomasthehun8408 No we don't, we just don't renew their contracts when they run out. It won't cost taxpayers a penny to renationalise all our public services.
Want Public Sector reform? Start by looking at Parliament. Pleanty of savings to be made there.

We need a Labour party with plenty of OOMPH like the one which came into governernment in 1945. At the moment I find almost total lack of inspiration or hope, just the rather negative 'anyone but the Tories'. Where's the Nye 'National Health Service' Bevan for our age? Yes, the country's in a mess. But after WW2 it was in a far worse mess, but that didn't stop the Attlee government striking out boldly, more boldly by far than the present Labour leadership.
haha this interview bombed. I ve done German speaking tests that went better than that
I can do it easy with a selection of policies. First, rejoin the European Single Market; Second, renationalise all and I mean all those privatised industries the Tories sold off to their mates even schools; Third, introduce a far fairer tax system. For instance, reintroduce income tax increases for the highest earners, tax property more efficientl, reform the outdated Council Tax system with a link made with the value of property, reduce VAT but reintroduce the old Labour Purchase Tax where more is paid for luxury items like fur coats, Rolls Royce cars etc; fourth, reform democracy in the UK by abolishing FPTP and introduce a fairer proportional system like STV; Fifth, abolish the House of Lords. All these reforms would benefit the UK. Will they be introduced? No.
Since when are socialists fans of the EU or single market? Historically socialists are euro skeptic. Socialist policies are incompatible with membership of the single market. Weirdly incoherent.
Why are they still banging on about Angela Rayner? Distraction distraction. Snooze. The interviewer also needs to stop interrupting constantly and Sir Keir needs to start practising answers to more than one question per interview lol
Starmer has absolutely nothing to offer
true I just realised now but not choice they're better than current criminals
I don't trust this man.
Of course not. He's a Tory.

@@nicksimmons7234 Corbyn was distinctly different to the conservatives, you absolutely cannot say the same for Keir.
@@idotexe3005 Corbyn lost 2 elections and lead Labour to worst defeat since 1935. Starmer is doing the same as Labour in 1997 and that made the whole country better.
Why not?
It's scary that Keir was director of public prosecutions, was it just a bit of work experience?
He wants privatisation 🤷♂️
He never said that, grow up
@@bereal6590no he doesn't. You need to wake up. The Tories don't mention privatisation either. They only stealthily force it right under our very noses.
Tory boy Starmer will only do the same.
@@bereal6590that’s difficult for the Corbyn fan club.
No he doesn't.
He wants to privatise the NHS for definite.
The five missions, which Sir Keir said would form "the backbone of the Labour manifesto and the pillocks of the next Labour government", include:
1. Securing the "highest sustained growth" in the G7 group of rich nations, made up of the UK, US, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, and Japan, by the end of Labour's first term :- U.K. has already overtaken France in worlds largest economy chart since leaving the Eu. Starmer will force the unemployed to work or remove benefits.
2. Making Britain a '"clean energy superpower", removing fossil fuels from all of Britain's electricity generation by 2030. This has already been done, U.K. has already the largest wind farms on the planet.
3. Improving the NHS :- By privatisation of more services.
4. Reforming the justice system. Even Starmer couldn’t prosecute Jimmy Saville.
5. Raising education standards. By the introduction of more private schools.

2019 Tory voters telling themselves Labour is worse to feel better.
Interrupting politicans when they aren’t answering the questions is good journalism. Interrupting them when they are actually answering the question like this is frankly irritating.
To be fair, he wasn't really answering. He was spewing out his vague talking point
@@flyingface Not from what I saw, the guy would ask a question, and Starmer would start to answer then the guy would jump in with a completely different question, sure politicians will always want to squeeze their policies in to any answer but as long as the policy is relevant to the question asked that’s fine, I want to know what their policies are. If Sunak is asked about immigration, I expect him to start banging on about Rwanda, if he’s asked about Tory corruption though then starts banging on about Rwanda then that’s when I expect him to be interrupted because he’s changed the topic. Didn’t see that happening here though Starmer didn’t change the topic on any questions yet got cut short almost immediately every time he spoke.
The global economy is too wide and too deep for any one individual to fully understand!

Awful interviewing skills. Very incompetent.
Growth is bad
Tories have been harping on about it for years to grow the economy and the infrastructure isn't there to cope with demand. Local areas the crime is rising, no one can get moved with the volume of cars list goes on and on
How to interview someone without allowing them to speak. Very bad interviewer.
Absolutely agree, it was ridiculous
I think it's the public school tie brigade. C4 is normally pretty good. On this occasion there was hostility, hostility that's not given at tory MPs.
Great interviewer
FFS channel 4 also going on about the Rayner nothing burger… Is there not a single media outlet left that’s not in the Tory party’s hands these days???
Very aggressive interview. Not great, let the man speak!!
Very good questioning ❤
It’s simple - cut benefits so people survive not thrive on them, cut public sector pensions, move healthcare from free point of entry to a shared cost model ala everywhere else in Europe. You’re Welcome
Haha, more of what got us into this mess, what an amazing idea
@@crayontom9687thanks - even better follow the us model for health. Healthcare cost about 15k for a family but tax is only 24% at 162k. Here the NHS costs £250bn - 20k per working family yet tax rates are far higher . The Maths is indisputable
