You are very welcome! I am really surprised how there is die back even in Zone 7b. Here in Zone 4b, I am planting as many remontant varieties as possible to observe performance. Let's Dance Can Do has shown good flowering so far. Others are flowering, but it is too early to assess especially after an unusually mild winter. I have planted Rock n Roll this year, so I am looking forward to it after your comments. I very much enjoy your videos.
Thank you, it will be really interesting to hear how your plants fare as well. We hope you'll be able to keep us all posted, as things develop. As you may have noted, our trial is based on the results after the plants have become well established in the ground. Most of the ones that David was focusing on are now entering their third growing season, and that's important because sometimes young plants don't reveal their true capabilities until they get nicely settled in. And as you correctly mention the weather conditions vary form year to year as well, so it will be important to revisit these trials in subsequent years too, Which is what we intend to do. Also, stay tuned because David is planning to post (shortly) more follow up videos, showing how the plants turned out later in the growing season. Finally, have you subscribed to our channel yet? If you haven't, you might like to think about it, because once you are subscribed, each time we post new videos (which we are doing all the time), you will find that they will turn up automatically in your feed. And, as you find our videos helpful, it would be great if you could kindly share the links with your friends and click the "like" button too, because that helps other people find the information as well. We see you are in Zone 4b, so you may be outside of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern States area where all our partnering garden centers: grownbyoverdevest.com/retail-locator/ are located. But if not, can we suggest that you try to visit at least some of them frequently, because that's where you should be able to see lots of gorgeous, tried and true and cutting edge, top performing selections. Thanks for taking the trouble to post your kind and interesting comments.
@@OverdevestNurseries Thanks for your response. I love these videos. I am across the border in Canada, so beyond your service area. Obviously, I am dependent on Canadian suppliers, which seem to be getting most of these new hydrangea varieties quite quickly.
Hi David. Your knowledge on Hydrangeas are truly impeccable. Do you also trial “Eclipse” Dark leaf mophead Hydrangea? I can’t seem to find too much info on it. I picked one up this passing Summer. It states can handle full sun but here in my zone 7b NY, the leaf tips were burning so had to give it partial shade. If you can provide more info on this new breed I would greatly appreciate it. TY ❤
Sorry, that's not really our subject. The vast majority of our plants are outdoor ones so we are afraid we can't help you much. Thanks for letting us know. As you may know, our current information rates it as a USDA Zone 4 plant: grownbyoverdevest.com/plant/cherry-explosion-lacecap-hydrangea/ so we (and perhaps our other viewers) will be interested to learn of your experiences with it. Absolutely...., all our plants are growing pots! Almost any kind of pot will do the trick, just make sure they have good drainage holes in the bottom. During the growing season, the key thing (obviously) will be regular watering and during the winter time protecting them from freezing solid. As you have probably noted in our videos, we over-winter our plants in hoop houses. But in your case (if you don't want to bring them into a cool basement or garage) you could try to moving them into a sheltered spot (up against a wall, under evergreens etc.), you might be able to wrap the dormant tops in burlap and the soil in the containers will probably (depending upon where you live) need to be protected too. The larger the soil volume the less fluctuation in soil temperatures, so bigger pots work better than small ones. Because the root system in the pots is elevated and going to be surrounded by cold air, the compost will cool down quicker and the cold will last longer than it would if the plants are planted in the ground. So the roots in the pots will have to be insulated too. David over-winters his plants by plunging them in the earth (buries the pots temporarily in soil) and lifts them again in spring. Some people we know get similar results with piling up leaves or mulch around the pots - anything that prevent the soil in the pots from freezing solid. Wooden pots, tubs and half barrels have better insulation than plastic or fiberglass ones but on the flip side, they tend to be heavier, so they are often more difficult to move. We hope this helps give you at least a little guidance. Finally, have you subscribed to our channel yet? If you haven't, you might like to think about it, because once you are subscribed, each time we post a new video (which we are doing all the time), you will find that they will turn up automatically in your feed. I need your help I’m in mid Atlantic region the end of last summer I bought two proven winners let’s dance blue jangles and ah ha they were done blooming when I put them. They have little growth and no buds? I have a row of little limes and I see no buds on those as well my row of endless summers are doing great but one is massive one is tiny and the other is medium but blooming beautiful. I’m hoping it’s still a little early? Thanks
Thanks for watching and reaching out to us. By now you should be seeing plenty of growth and maybe like in our video (which of course was filmed here in our region), some flower buds and actual flowers now too. Its hard to guide you without seeing the plants and their surroundings, so maybe a call to your local extension office, a Garden Coach, or knowledgeable Master Gardener might be your best way forward. Hearing that your Little Limes and one of your Endless Summer plants is not thriving is puzzling and suggests that maybe something is going on generally with your site! And with that in mind, we would suggest that when you contact your local experts, you ask them to check on drainage, because it sounds like maybe, there might be an issue there with root death occurring during the winter and early spring, if the site was saturated then. 😜 We hope this helps. @@OverdevestNurseries thank you!
Hi David . Very cool video about hydrangeas and great job you are doing to provide excellent quality to your customers .Have a wonderful work .🌿
Thank you, thanks for letting us know that you enjoyed watching it.

TY ❤
Would love to see a video on taking care of the indoor plant - Rose Of Thorne.
Sorry, that's not really our subject. The vast majority of our plants are outdoor ones so we are afraid we can't help you much.
If you are in need of some expertise on houseplants then the best thig we suggest is visiting any of our partnering garden centers that carry houseplants.
That's where you may be able to chat with some of the experts there, who will (most likely) be able to help you out.
Thanks for thinking of us.

Thank you for your videos, so informative. This spring I have looked at many nurseries here in MA and the WorryFree series is not to be found. I love the sturdy stems and fullness of the heads. The search goes on. again, thank you for these informative videos.

Now to try to help you find some of the places that carry our plants.... If you put in your zip code into this locator link: grownbyoverdevest.com/retail-locator/ it will help you find all the places all over the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern states that carry our Grown By Overdevest plants.
It is up to each place to determine what varieties they stock, so if you are looking for a specific plant, it might be wise to call ahead.
Of course, when you visit, you should see lots of other pretty and outstanding things (many of which are featured in our videos).
It often pays to have a chat with the plant experts at these centers too, because they will probably be able to guide you with local guidance, and if they don't actually have something in stock at that time they may consent to try to get it for you too.
We hope this helps.

Absolutely love your videos Mr.Wilson.
Lots of information for beginners like me.
But at same time, it feels strange for me to watch you because you ressemble to my dad so much ( mix of my dad and 2 of his brothers actually, one of them we lost 2 years ago).

Fascinating! You called this 'first results', so when you get to a point where you are comfortable drawing final conclusion will you be producing some kind of trial report where you rank each of the varieties included in your trial? Something like the Mt Cuba reports...
Absolutely. David will be returning to this test site and reporting on the best performers including those that have yet to develop fully.
So, as he says in this video "stay tuned, because there's more coming....."

I have just purshased Cherry Explosion. I am a passionate and i will give a chance to my zone 3b. Hopes is my device.ha ha.

Can I grow them in the pots? What type of pots? I don’t want to bring them inside. Thank you for your advice
