- In Greek, "nostalgia" literally means "the pain from an old wound." It’s a twinge in your heart, far more powerful than memory alone. This device isn’t a spaceship, it’s a time machine. It goes backwards and forwards, it takes us to a place where we ache to go again.
Nostalgia is a place that we get stuck in, a frame of time that we never want to leave... For us 80s kids, it’s Van Halen, Ferris Buehler, and acid washed jeans... For my 1960s mother, it’s Elvis Presley, TV westerns, and drive in movies... Each generation wants to hold on to their comfort zone... Now I’m gonna go watch Ghostbusters and drink some Boone’s Farm..
From South Louisiana, born in 95. Older brother was in the army, moved us to Central Texas in 2011 and I immediately got homesick. But it was deeper than that, but I couldn't put my finger on it. I started to search for a word or phrase to describe what I was feeling, I discovered the word "nostalgia." This video made me realize that I wasn't alone. 2007-2014 is my safe place. Thank you.
Its sad how you never appreciate the great moments as they're happening.
This is one of the best moments in television, IMHO
ALL THE FEELS
It’s repetition. Seeing the same thing over and over until it gets stuck in your head and you never forget it. The commercials/movies/tv shows and video games were designed to get stuck in our heads. The entertainment industry strives to create products that last forever.
Take me back!
Nostalgia i hate it, its very meaning, attachment to a product/toyline we once had as a kid, no matter how much we recollect it, all we feel is how it felt back then, the time , the place, where we got it, maybe in a place that doesn't exist anymore
It’s not the thing we’re attached to. It’s the moment. Nostalgia pre-dated Mattel.
There was a version of this but just with retro video games?! Been trying to find it for an age
Hmm not exactly sure what you're saying but I'm commenting to follow this haha
Spade like each slide he showed was a different retro game still, from the older console era like snes and gamegear. It was an incredible edit!
@@adamfine7445 yeah I guess it was if we're both thinking of the same edit
So good!
That feel when you will never be able to drink Sobe from a glass bottle ever again. It hurts, bros.
That’s deep
Brilliant!
