These are fun Alan, I did some mods on mine as well as making a brass burner for it, looking at my log book I have just under 55 hours of steaming time on mine now - Cheers Jim
Wow, 55 hours Jim, you must really like that little engine 🙂 So far, I've only made an aluminium base but a burner would be a good idea. A much more constant heat source, although I do kind of like the beeswax candle. Cheers, Alan.
An interesting idea for a wobbler engine. I don’t know if it’s my imagination or parallax Alan, but it looked as if the mount for cylinder and flywheel is leaning over to one side. Cheers Nobby
Hi Nobby. The port block is at right angles to the top of the boiler. The problem is that the boiler doesn't sit square in the plastic ring that it mounts in. I need to put the ring in the lathe and just shave a little off the inside surface. Cheers, Alan.
Thanks Brian. I may do exactly that, Jim who commented below (RUclips Channel 'Blue Heeler's Model & Toy Steam Engine Room'). Made one and his D2 runs very nicely. Cheers, Alan.
My thinking exactly. A tealight candle can be overclocked significantly by using 3 fully burnt matches in a teepee formation. That'll get her choochin!
nice one Alan like you say unusual and self contained
thanks for sharing👍👍👍👍😉😉🚂🚂

Thanks Kev. Yes it is a bit unusual. Cheers, Alan.
Happy Thanksgiving 😊 Thanks for sharing 👍
Nice little runner, does exactly what it says on the tin. 😊
Hi David. Yes it is, you have to get the wick and the amount of water just right but when you do it runs great. Cheers, Alan.
Nice one Alan. Cheers Rob
Thanks Rob. Makes a change to have one that doesn't need any work! Cheers, Alan.

Sweet. I did not know Wilesco made these simple engines.
They are great, not quite as refined as the little Chinese steam engines but still fun.
I love it

Alan nice little engine. I think you could make a little spirit burner that would solve the heat problem.
Thanks Brian. I may do exactly that, Jim who commented below (RUclips Channel 'Blue Heeler's Model & Toy Steam Engine Room'). Made one and his D2 runs very nicely. Cheers, Alan.
do you think a candle with 2 or 3 wicks might get just that little extra heat it needs?
Possibly. As long as the wick is long enough and there is just the right amount of water in the boiler it will run ok.
