I first heard this 50 years ago, when I was just 9 years old. It blew me away then, and it still does today. An amazing song!
One of the greatest songs of all time!
RIP Steve Priest. Thank you for many, many years of wonderful music with the lads. Thank you Andy, Mick, Steve & Brian. Been a fan for over 40 years and still love the music!
45 years here.. :)
He's right about how amazing this record sounds. One of the best-sounding singles ever recorded. It still leaps out of the speakers and grabs you to this day.
Amen 🙏❤️
One of my favorite songs, I remember it as a teenager in the 70's.
Love Andy’s back stories
The Sweet have always been a superb band!!
The synth part really lifted this song, made it sound like a space ship taking off at the start.
He deserves all the respect in the world for his input in this master piece. I heard this song so many times its just always instant happy energy, the synthesizer intro and solo are just fenomenal, this man is an absolute legend for me. Great singer, synthesizer and guitar player ! For me its the best Sweet song, and with Tiger feet the best songs of the 70's .
Been a fan since the beginning. Could talk about Sweet for hours. Today it's a known fact that they were extremly underrated. One thing though, Brian Connolys voice. In my opinion he never got the recognition he deserved. Still there are not many singers out there who freely can go between head, chest voice as he did. Just an outstanding lead singer and an fantastic voice.
Grateful... So Grateful...
I’ve always liked the Sweet for their unusual sounds and gimmicks over the years and of course their music.👍
Great idea to tell the story behind the song.. Nice Andy..
Takes me right back to being 10 years old popping wheelies on my Schwin and wiping out. Love, love, love this song, and yes, it sounds amazing.
The greatest song of all time. FACT!
About time we had a proper SWEET channel
This song always brings me immediately back to high school 1976...
Yeah ! For me it was going ice skating in the fall of '75 ! Great times !
Love that song!!!
This is nice from you, Andy, which we may see your magnificent songs on You tube. I am glad about the next videos, with your documentation. Thanks a lot. Please, stay healthy.
Always loved the synth intro on this song...great song btw.
My favorite band of the 70's and still love their songs.
I got hooked on synthesizers when I was about 12 and heard THIS SINGLE with that incredible oscillator intro it BLEW AWAY every other chart single, SWEET ROOLED - THEY STILL DO nice one guys! Since the 80's Ive probably owned around 20 synths!
Thank you, Andy!
I still have my Arp Omni 2 synth from the late 70's. Also Ensoniq work stations,Kurzweil modules, Rockman modules, and reel to reels etc..They are still going strong.
This song is as great now as it was in the seventies!!. The Sweet influenced countless bands. So many bands remade their songs.
This is my absolute favourite Sweet song. The harmonies just kill me every time. Awesome awesome song!
It's just sad that Steve passed the other day. It's killer how he sings "Foxy on the run." It's got a hint of a metal edge we'd later hear in the early 80s. And for the record, Andy's falsetto is epic. Gives Roger Taylor a run for the money!
Same same best everrrr. !
It was / is fantastic! I don't think bands today realize how difficult recording was back in the day.
Awesome some from my childhood.. still love it.. ty!!
Great song, great performance and a superb commentary by Andy.
That Strat looks magnificent.
Looks like the Fox on the Run is about to be introduced to a new Century via Guardians of the Galaxy Mix Tape Vol. II!!!
Just watched the GotG trailer, so yeah, that's what brought me here.
Hello Andy. I just discovered you, it is never too late if happiness is good. The truth is that I'm listening to you with the song Love is like oxygen when I was about 15 years old, now I'm 57, but I didn't know what this Sweet song was, so I looked on RUclips for this song and from here I can't go without listening your songs, a shame from Brian and Mick, take good care of yourself and Steve, a hug and I hope you read this to me, greetings from Punta Umbría-Huelva-Andalusia-Spain
I'm 53 and have been listening to this song since I was a small child..😂 I remember it from the roller skating rink!
@@melissamayes4152 I'm already 60 hahahahaha more or less at that age I listened to this song, 12-14 years old... regards
This is great to be a part of the Official Sweet Channel.A very underrated band who deserved more recognition for the imput they put into music and influenced many bands.Long live Sweet
Very under rated indeed !
The song that got me addicted :-)
awesome! my favorite Sweet song, Saw them live in Hartford Ct. w/ Bb Segar. Was pissed they weren't headliners, Seger only had like 1 or 2 hits. In USA think I heard my first Sweet in 71, was Little Willy, then went after everything...Thanks so much for this, Andy
This is my favorite song by them too. I also think Little Willy was the first song of theirs I heard too. Reminds me of the skating rink because they used to play it for speed skating. Good memories of better times!
I wish I was their age at their height of stardom. Steve Priest was my fav. 😍
Thanks for posting this. This is just what us fans have been looking for. Looking forward to many more stories behind the songs....and looking forward to the Australian tour in a few weeks. See you there!
Greatest into EVER, well, with Satisfaction...
A brilliant body of work! Really enjoying your background info Andy!
GREATEST BAND EVER !!!! and one of their greatest songs and also a cool story behind the song...
But I wonder why a few Years that there is no cinema movie about that great band comming up to the cinemas... For me it´s unbelivable...
Greetz from Nuremberg Germany
Thorsten / Gene from FIRST KISS
You're right; they came up with the formula, and Queen made millions with it - and THEY got a bio flick. Sweet should get a musical bio, to get this great music out there and blow away ALL of what currently passes for pop music.
I was right there in America, the target audience and you got me!!!
Excellent idea. Fine band
Such a gift, FROM THE MASTER HIMSELF
My now deceased wife Sandra fox grew up with Brian in West draighton England Sandra fox is the fox on the run really cheers mate kaboom and boom
Andy, please do more of these❤️💕😘
still love this band and Andy Scott doing a great job with the latest Sweet .some good videos recently on you tube .
Thank you Andy!!!
Dear Andy,
For me, The Sweet coming since 1971 for the umpteenth time to life with this Sweet channel!
Nice that you put so much energy remains stabbing in!
Fox on the Run's beginning stays alltimes recognizable.
Stay in Tune!
Yes, that synth is fantastic.
Loving this 'Songs of the month' series with your stories behind the hits Andy. The details you're providing are amazing & show how much real effort you guys put in to create these legendary songs that we're still listening to all these years later. It's a real pity that Brian & Mick aren't around to see how popular you still are.
Thanks for the great memories & all the best for the future.
😀
Rememberin me as a kid - runnin to the record store just to get the single. Great times - Great songs....The Sweet
GREAT. GREAT ,GREAT .really G-R-E-A-T ANDY .. Sweet was my very favorite 70s Rock band
i remember this amazing song dancing and jumping over the bed with my brother ( and ocasionally with a lot of friends all singin´ and jumpin´ can you imagine LOL ) everytime we played the vynil ... I´m very glad to discover the official sweet channel and I´ll follow
the next feature...SALUDOS FROM MEXICO AMIGOS
great song! I'm still enjoying it the way i did many years ago!
This is brill! I have been watching The Sweet on here since seeing them in Dec. Am looking forward to seeing some new clips and hearing all the stories behind the songs.
That was the best afterthought there ever was.
THANK YOU,
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🎹🎹🎹🎹🎶🎶🎶🎶🎤🎤🎤👏👏👏EXCELENTE banda de rock.
That was great to hear! Funny how things can turn out to be so good in the end, just from an idea.
I´ve produced two albums myself so I know how it can be sometimes.
I love this :-)
Damn great music and times.
Thanks for that Andy very interesting.
first heard this in the movie detroit rock city as a kid was always one of my fav songs in the movie
I liked that ...thanks.
The cool thing is, the song is so well written that as much as the synth seems like the integral foundation of the song, the versions without it are incredibly strong in their own right. Not just the original Sweet UK studio version, but Ace Frehley's 2009 cover is all guitar driven, and it works so well!
The most badass song ever! Thanks to Guardians of the Galaxy movie 2 to bring back the 70’s music revival. Watching all of Sweet’s band music
I find interesting that even with a vocalist, Sweet always had their bassist sing a line or more... at least on the songs I've heard.
Well Steve left us, rest the three friends in peace.
Oddly enough the b-side, Miss Demeanor, is my favorite Sweet song.
+Harold Duggart
Indeed. The band proves their versatility in that song with Steve on the lead. It has a jazzy approach, tempo change, funny lyrics and a nice guitar solo. :)
Fantastic song and great feature! But the song did not get to #2 in America; it peaked at #5 in America.
Awesome song! But how did you create that lead solo dual guitar sound?
I love hearing stories behind the songs but don't get me wrong on this but i find he loves to try and take credit for everything. Not once does he mention that Steve wrote the song, just that he came up with the synthesizer intro. I have noticed this on every song of the month that he does.
great
Ok! 🤩
Can you do some from the give us a wink album
Cool
Sweet fa
RIP Andy's Bridge pickup
Completely different to the orig. album version which is a more raw Rock n Roll song - They did a real good effort in polishing it up as a hit single!
+Official Sweet Channel Fox On The Run on Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 will re-introduce your music to a new generation of film audiences and music listeners who had never heard of you guys.
I actually prefer the album version
Please show us the riff it is on of the best.
I wanna play the jukebox. Can't though.
The sinth spunds a lot like a song of which i cant remember the name of by slade....
Is that a rug?
Was hoping he was going to show us how to play the riffs. 😢
The heavy version its better :)
Bassist Steve Priest has died at the age of 72.
he didn't say the story behind the song wtf
:-)
Inspired? 😉 Band On the Run: ruclips.net/video/41iwyqScDZo/видео.htmlm35s
Christopher John Priest....
love.
Sorry Andy...but Steve is the best..!!!.......don't forget...
Yeah...but what about that hat Andy's wearing in the video?
HE"S A FUCKING WIZARD!!! RESPECT IT DAMN IT!!!!!!! lol
Yeah what about it? I mean who the fuck cares?!
Damn it's almost like this song was written for him. "You dont look the same the way you did before".
Who gives a shit?
Im a Priest the wig is ridiculous ,,, be A Priest
You should stop having that haircut at this stage in your life. It's not helping you in any way.
Shut up and listen to his music ☝️
@@pleun315 right you are.
