I think he’s finally matured and mellowed out. Cause truthfully he came across as harsh, bitter and caustic in earlier days. Glad to see this, if I am in fact correct.
This kind of documentary is overdue for a band like Sweet. All the other rock bands enjoy more credits of details. Sweet were always underrated. I`m glad this is on youtube.
I have to agree with Andy when he says that Brian gave a great vocal on this song. It's easily among the most passionate, sensitive performances of his whole career IMO. Amazing song, too... the long version is a pop masterpiece.
Andy has been the backbone of this band. He’s kept the music of The Sweet alive and done heaps of online and otherwise promotion even though both Brian and Mick are no longer alive. You can tell Andys very invested in the music of the Sweet and he deserves all the accolades he gets. His hard worked paid off for him. A great talent and hard working man.
Great song , it certainly is one of the most beautiful written and played by band. I still have the original vinyl of the 1978. I was very upset that after this song Brian has left the band, his voice was unmistakable.
Such a beautiful epic song. Haunting and melancholic yet also hopeful and soothing. It is definitely one of the best songs ever written. It is very unique, the only section that sounds like it could have an outside influence is the chorus which to me sounds very E.L.O.ish which is not a bad thing by any means. Thanks for such a wonderful piece of music Andy.
This song is a work of art I especially enjoy the album version and the part between the acoustic guitar with piano and the two or three times I hear breathing coming from the mike captivating the intensity of that great moment. It was great to hear how it all comes together. Next up the rock n roll hall of fame long overdue sincerely ar
The First Album I ever bought I was in grade 5 ... I’m 52 ... I got into Rush if the guys from Rush were influenced with out them knowing it this is the band that did it
The Sweet is one of the greatest groups of the Glam Rock generation. I'm absolutely enchanted by their music and I am sorry this band ceased to exist. Unfortunately some of the greatest bands of all times lived so short: The Beatles, ABBA, Europe. This channel is a great idea and another chance to elevate my spirit with THE SWEET. Thank you for your music!
OMG! This band just blows me away! So ahead of their time. Besides the kick butt tightness of Sweet as a band, I enjoy the original videos where Steve "vamps" it up for the camera, Andy in pigtails, Nick with glitter on his face for Wig Wham"..I can't even begin to cover Sweet in words. Uh, they were the "Bomb," goes the once upon a time saying....
I totally concur with you in the fact Sweet started a new "era" of music!! A step above at that time! Besides the obvious fact that Sweet kicked dupa musically, I so enjoy the original videos when Steve would vamp for the cameras, Andy in pigtails n Nick with glitter stars pasted on his face in "Wig Wham!" Totally priceless.... I'm glad to have been alive to experience them as I did! ✌👍😏💞
Brian has such a lovely voice, And you were so lucky to have know them all. I wish someone would invent a time machine the 1970s would be the first stop and only stop for me, it was such a wonderful decade.
Andy you hit a home run with this song brother. Love your creativity as a songwriter. The chord progressions, arrangements, intro. Everything is perfect. Plus all the members are in it.
Il brano numero 1 di questi Mitici, per me, Fab Four! Questo brano li fece conoscere ad un pubblico più vasto. Ricordo di averli visti in classifica in Italia nei primi 10 posti nel 1978. Che tempi! Forever Sweet!
Thanks Andy for doing these. Sweet have been in my life for as far back as I can remember. Thank you for all the songs, 'oxygen' will always be my favourite.
Such a great song and production. I've always loved The Sweet. They had so many great songs and so relentless, the hits. I was already hooked when this record came out and we were so ready for it and then they delivered. Love hearing about the recording!
I remember the „fan-war“ in the german journal „BRAVO“ between The Sweet and Bay City Rollers. My sister loved Les McKeown. She had the plaid on her pants. My Cousine loved Brian and the Sweet. Today, I hear the music of both bands on cd but finally I have to say: the winner is…The Sweet! 😊
It's always good to hear Andy and always good to hear the stories behind one of the best bands ever formed. They always had something much more special than any of the other really popular glam associated bands except for a near equal (but we all know there is no equal for Sweet) in Slade. Sweet are the music of my childhood past, my present, and my future. When Brian and Mick died I knew someone had to step in something had to give. Back then, though, I believed in forming a band and now I know that I have to do it myself probably because when you have a band you have what wants to be a democracy. At 41 now I couldn't take the tension it involves. It would be very hard for me to do that and maybe impossible. With Brian it was a combination of him feeling abused and depressed and the band growing apart. There are several sides to what was really not at all a good career move.
En aquella época en una estación de radio me gané el LP Level headed; la canción conocida era Love is like Oxigen. Amé todo el disco, y a la fecha lo considero mi disco favorito. Gracias amigo.
One of the best songs from the band. I would love to hear more from Andy about how Steve developed the bass part for that song, because it is a very classical approach with strange counterpoint moments for a rock song like J.S. Bach would have done. Who did the deep background vocals within the choruses? I love this "Song of the Month" series but I would appreciate more detailed informations about production, writing, recording and so on, like musicians would be interestet in. Hope there will be more episodes from the Level Headed album. Dream On, Lady of the Lake, Lettres D'Amour with Stevie Lange as guest vocalist. Outstanding songs and very unusual arrangements for Sweet songs. I am looking forward to hear more from Andy in the future talking about Songs like e.g. Stairway to the Stars, A Distinct Lack of Ancient and so on.
Fantastic rig rundown by Andy ! Us guitar geeks love that stuff ! And with a songwriting team already associated with Sweet it’s great to know that band members were so talented to come up with a classic track like this.
Such a pity that tragedy struck after this because it sounds to me like Sweet could have been big in America with a sound that fit on the FM radio of the time, alongside bands like Toto and Reo Speedwagon. They should have got help for Brian and sorted him out. I bet they regret it because they totally lost their momentum without Brian in the band. Chemistry - don't mess with it!
Hey Andy, the Sweet as far as I am concerned were a very underrated band and at points it must of been frustrating to not identified as great musicians in the media , but now that has proved everyone wrong, these are still great songs that are still listened to and will go on being listened to in years to come, that is why we are here. I am a musician myself and have heard you say before after Queen came on the scene they had a similar fervour with layering and harmonies with vocals, could you explain the "secret" or the sound of Sweet, with your voices, as I know you could all sing, but there is a certain element that is very identifiable as the Sweet, it would be great if you could explain the engineering behind the vocals of the Sweet sound, love it and loved the show in Torquay 2015. This is a great Idea thanks Andy!
Dear Mr. Scott, as "Oxygene" is from the LEVEL HEADED-album...when will we get a high-quality remastered edition from that SWEET-masterpiece, as we did from the other albums ? Anyway, thanks for sharing your memories with us.
Why did you stop doing this? :( please keep doing it, I love to listen to you talking about every detail of the songs. You are amazing! By the way, I love you since I was 12 :D
This album was a complete change of direction in style in Sweet's career, the last one being "Off The Record" (I think). I would love to hear more about Steve's perfect bass playing and great vocals, not to mention Mick's awesome drumming in these documentaries! Their great skills and contribution to Sweet seem sadly overlooked. "Level Headed" is a fabulous album, unfortunately the albums that follow without Brian don't have that something which is Brian. Their next album "Cut Above The Rest" is a very good album with some really clever songs and ideas on it but unfortunately it's just not Sweet anymore.
I've got to say, I am loving these song of the month documentaries. It's too bad it can't be more in-depth and include Steve's angle as well. That aisde, these are really quite insightful and provide an interesting look into some pretty incredible songs. I've always kind of liked Sweet, but it wasn't until recently that something triggered in my brain that made me realize how brilliant their music was. I'm not sure how they aren't in the R&R Hall Of Fame, because they clearly influenced a TON of bands and solo artists, and had some iconic songs (Ballroom Blitz alone should be enough of a reason). I've been watching every video on youtube, and all the documentaries about the history of the band, I'm glad there is an official channel that compiles a lot of the best stuff. I'm subscribed and looking forward to the next one!
Der letzte Song mit der ganzen Band. Danach musste ER gehen. Leider. Es war so schade. Es hätten noch viele Songs kommen können. Aber die Luft war raus.
Still looking for that extremely Rare Hard Rock Version of this, it shows what The Sweet are made of, they sound Exactly like deep Purple on this version. Anyone know where I can find it? This is the Official Sweet Channel, Right?
What? Where does the Deep Purple comparison come from? There is nothing "hard rock" or even likable about this limp song. This signaled the end of Sweet as a rock band. I remember crying after first buying the album. I love the band, i apologise for being so harsh; but it is awful.
My favourite sweet song....classic song. I love Brians voice on love is like oxygen. Rip
Brian was the best frontman ever with an unique voice 🎤💕
This dude needs to be in the ROCK FAME !😎✌
I want to cry when I see Brian sing this from the bottom of his heart.. the guitar is sounds so moving too. Melancholia
Andy does come across as a very decent guy in these interviews , full of praise for everyone .
I think he’s finally matured and mellowed out. Cause truthfully he came across as harsh, bitter and caustic in earlier days. Glad to see this, if I am in fact correct.
I was a kid in the 70s. You guys were my heros. Still love your music.
This kind of documentary is overdue for a band like Sweet. All the other rock bands enjoy more credits of details. Sweet were always underrated.
I`m glad this is on youtube.
Cl4rendon I think so too.
I'm sure the families have been constructively intuitive on the project.
Love this song Brian's vocals are beautiful xx
I have to agree with Andy when he says that Brian gave a great vocal on this song. It's easily among the most passionate, sensitive performances of his whole career IMO. Amazing song, too... the long version is a pop masterpiece.

You can tell Andys very invested in the music of the Sweet and he deserves all the accolades he gets. His hard worked paid off for him. A great talent and hard working man.
I could listen to Andy for hours. So fascinating to hear what was going on behind the scenes
Brilliant song... the way it was put together...👍🏻
Great song , it certainly is one of the most beautiful written and played by band. I still have the original vinyl of the 1978. I was very upset that after this song Brian has left the band, his voice was unmistakable.
Brian was brilliant - love his voice
These guys were one of my favourite ever bands.
One of my favourite songs of all time. Thank you Andy for coming up with it
Great peace of work outstanding 😮😮
Always loved that song. Big departure for Sweet at the time.
One of the best bands of all time!
The Sweet kicked ass big time..Rock hero’s..
Great song! Brian, Steve, and Mick are so good. Steve's bass vocals are excellent.
What a voice 🎤♥️💕♥️😍
What a song 🎶
What a band 🎤🎸🎸🥁
Sweet forever 👍
Another terrific track by the Sweet.
Brian Connolly, grandioso, inolvidable, etc. 💗💗💗
Fantastic 70s Glam rock Band.👍
One of Sweet's very best !
Love this band. Great song.
much love to Andy for continuing to carry on the Sweet legacy. Thank you for all of the amazing music Andy!
Love this song.!!!!!!!
The Level-headed album is simply brilliant!!!!
+Kodiak and Grizzly Bears Yes, it is!
It is complete shit. I hated it.
Such a beautiful epic song. Haunting and melancholic yet also hopeful and soothing. It is definitely one of the best songs ever written. Brilliant song

The First Album I ever bought I was in grade 5 ... I’m 52 ... I got into Rush if the guys from Rush were influenced with out them knowing it this is the band that did it
One coincidence is that after Rush and Sweet played together, Neil Peart added Gongs and tubular bells to his set, like Mick had.
The Sweet is one of the greatest groups of the Glam Rock generation. I'm absolutely enchanted by their music and I am sorry this band ceased to exist. A truly great song..has a little classical feel to it but yet edgy rock sound with that sweet touch
Andy you hit a home run with this song brother. Love your creativity as a songwriter. The chord progressions, arrangements, intro. Everything is perfect. Plus all the members are in it.
The drama in this song is so so good
Fantastic song, i always loved it.
Il brano numero 1 di questi Mitici, per me, Fab Four! Questo brano li fece conoscere ad un pubblico più vasto. Ricordo di averli visti in classifica in Italia nei primi 10 posti nel 1978. Che tempi! Forever Sweet!
Brian like an angel in the verses - shivers down the spine
Great song!
Thanks Andy for doing these. Sweet have been in my life for as far back as I can remember. Thank you for all the songs, 'oxygen' will always be my favourite.
Catchy and memorable lyrics, you can never forget them!
Loved this song then, still love and play it now. So sad things went wrong with the band since these recordings.
This song is really epic.I love the album version.
Such a great song and production. I've always loved The Sweet. They had so many great songs and so relentless, the hits. I was already hooked when this record came out and we were so ready for it and then they delivered. Love hearing about the recording!

ofcourse this love is like oxygen. the sweet. i dont care, i loved it.
Outstanding song.
En aquella época en una estación de radio me gané el LP Level headed; la canción conocida era Love is like Oxigen. Amé todo el disco, y a la fecha lo considero mi disco favorito. Gracias amigo.
So great to see this, these guys were always a mystery to me but I loved loved their music, thank you for posting! Jon

+Helmut Sinor Level-headed is an outstanding record. From the first to the last second.
Thanks to this song because I fell in love for SWEET BAND, likewise Thank You Andy for this great videos. Behind each there's a great history .
Great hearing the history of the record , still a classic song :)
Я люблю Sweet!!!!!!!! Энди Скотт, ты великий музыкант, спасибо тебе!
Fantastic rig rundown by Andy ! Us guitar geeks love that stuff ! And with a songwriting team already associated with Sweet it’s great to know that band members were so talented to come up with a classic track like this.
great band
SWEET, MOJA MLADA LASKA V STUDIJNOM UCENI!!! SOM DOCHODCA A SWEET JE STALE V MOJOM SRDCI!
Great Song…. Thanks for the story that goes with….
Nice to mention Brian's Bit part.
My favorite Sweet song!!! I'm glad to find your channel, thanks for all the great information!!!
Thanks for this song Andy. I love your vocals. Adored this for a very long time, sad song though.
Such a pity that tragedy struck after this because it sounds to me like Sweet could have been big in America with a sound that fit on the FM radio of the time, alongside bands like Toto and Reo Speedwagon. At the time this was a hit, Sweet were opening for their label mate Bob Seger
We need a remaster version of Level Headed - Without the best,, most grown up album from Sweet. And we need it now.
Hey Andy, the Sweet as far as I am concerned were a very underrated band and at points it must of been frustrating to not identified as great musicians in the media , but now that has proved everyone wrong, these are still great songs that are still listened to and will go on being listened to in years to come, that is why we are here. I was also at the show in Torquay.. it was fab! I'm seeing them again at The Robin2 in December, can't wait!
Guitar riff popped into my head this week and can not get enough of it... learning to play! Luv luv luv Sweet!
Dear Mr. Scott, as "Oxygene" is from the LEVEL HEADED-album...when will we get a high-quality remastered edition from that SWEET-masterpiece, as we did from the other albums ? Anyway, thanks for sharing your memories with us.
For the longest time I had thought that this song was done by E.L.O.
Why did you stop doing this? :( please keep doing it, I love to listen to you talking about every detail of the songs. You are amazing!
By the way, I love you since I was 12 :D
musikalisch anspruchsvolles Album in sweet historie

Thanks Andy! Very interesting background stories. I am always glad about the next story! When does the 12th song of the month follow?

Great song, great story, and Trevor(?)'s Yamaha SG-1000 in the back? Yeah!
...when Brian left there was no more oxigen for Sweet.
Der letzte Song mit der ganzen Band.

Hey Andy I love all your music. Can you do song of the month talk about the song Lady Starlight please. Thax luv ya. ❤
I remember this song well. It was good. Check out the album
Супер
Who is the other guitarist on the last section of this video (playing the Yamaha guitar)?
❤️❤️❤️❤️👍🏼
"So, thank you, one in each bathroom."
This song is not same without Brian
Wait a minute! Andy says Brian only sang the chorus vocal. Then the footage shows Brian singing the verse. What??
"On in each bathroom" LOL!
