This start is beastly, things are looking up. Fast growing cities with no happiness problems, good military and great potential on most cities (current and ones to take)
Marbozir Ttthhiiisis.. iis the scout te-am.. we have sent this me-essage via pa-arrot to notify you tha-at we are very cold a-and wa-aiting for your o-orders sir.
Im so jealous of the starting location. Just hope that you will have the late game strategic resources in your territory by the time that is relevant :D
your commentary is really helpful in teaching me how to be a better civ player. i just beat the game on prince for the first time. this game has such a big barrier with front-loading information and hidden mechanics, which makes it particularly difficult for inexperienced players to strategize. also, i appreciate that you're one of the few LPers who doesn't make a big production about non-western names and words being difficult to pronounce. it gets pretty infuriating when LPers make a big deal about not being able to pronounce indigenous city names when they have no qualms about european city names that are mostly consonants. like, all they have to do is try syllable by syllable. and if they're making a video for a large audience, look up the pronunciation and practice ahead of time instead of being disrespectful. anyway, thanks for the good content. i've been watching some of your new civ 6 stuff, too, but civ 5 is the only version i own for now, and the mechanics have changed so much that switching between playthroughs of 5 and 6 makes my head spin. the games are complicated enough as is. :P
The main advantage archers have over catapults is simply mobility (they can move and attack). Against a Civ with Great Wall you loose that mobility advantage. As such I would suggest focusing on melee units (which you already have) & trebuchets for your war against Germany. (basically skip crossbowmen)
I would never skip getting a bunch of archer units as you want to get them to range and logistics ASAP. They have a strong upgrade path that will last the entire game. Some heavily promoted machine guns/bazookas at end game are always welcome.
DocSardo Crossbowmen are generally indispensable in the early game however the late game versions are simply out-shined by Artillery and Rocket Artillery. Gatling guns, Machine guns, & Bazookas are still good units but the reduced range really hurts them. Note: The Artillery/Trebuchet also have upgrades to logistics and extra-range.
1426305384950384 Gatling Guns, Machine Guns and Bazookas do not require any strategic resources (which can be a major factor, unless you're reallly swimming in aluminum). They are also WAY more tanky than artillery or rocket artillery, since they have the same melee combat strength and ranged combat strength, unlike most ranged units (36 on gatling gun vs. 34 on rifleman for example) - they can actually be in the front, taking hits. I think you underestimate them a bit.
Marbozir Crossbowmen are mobile units which are useful against both enemy units and cities. A large enough Crossbow army can easily take a city. When they upgrade in the late game they switch more to an infantry role. This doesn't mean they are bad, but with your Jaguar promoted Infantry I see no reason for you to build them. As for strategic resources, well that's why its so important to have Aluminum or Oil in the late game. You really need Bombers, Battleships or Rocket Artillery to take cities. (Unless you plan to nuke them until you can walk in, but even then you need uranium).
Nice LP so far, I like the Lake map script and I'm curious how the AI will deal with everyone having chornic backstabbing disorder. I'm kinda wondering what your scout is doing. Last time I saw it he was sitting somewhere near the northern pole next to the Chinese border and I didn't see you moving him at all anymore. Is he still up there, fortified on his lone snow hill, keeping eternal vigil over northern China and that barb camp you wanted to clear out?
I'm not leaning either way, just want some opinions: Is it worth training that many jaguar warriors early on if you don't plan on pushing early with them (and why would you do that on deity or immortal)? Their unique promotion is pretty good, but it's not the best one. More than 3 cost gold every turn in that case, the extra iron is more gold lost and so are the upgrades and the production spend of let's say the last 4 could've gone into something else like an extra worker or even the oracle, the easiest and certainly not the worst wonder to get on deity. And also it forces a different tech route. Those units are useless if you don't upgrade them. The military manpower rating you get might balance it out - not getting attacked and so on - but is that actually the case? I can't say that from my experience, it seems to be a lot more random than that (unless you have more military than they have, but when does that ever happen?) Oh and about the vid: Really want to see how he deals with happiness in the following turns. Can't wait to learn from the master. I always have an issue with it in a situation like that with fast growing cities until late renaissance and enough money to spend on city states.
I'm noticing you always build mines on freshwater hills, even though you have Civil Service so making a farm instead would give 2 Food and 2 Hammers. Mine only gives 3 hammers, until you get the industrial tech?
Hey Marbozir, why are guilds important when you aren't pursuing a tourism victory? I usually build them, but just when my capital/biggest city has ran out of buildings to build
You keep saying that you need to hurry to build Jaguars while you can but you will be able to build jaguars until musketman right? that's is pretty far away!
I've found a way how to troll the AI - for example, if there's a road tile in no one's territory, you can pillage that tile and it will break the city conection... :D
Can you please explain to me how XP upgrades work when changing a ranged unit to a melee unit such as drill, does it convert or are all the upgrades neglected
There are only a few units that applies to (mounted/ranged). They unfortunately do not carry forward. So Keshiks, Camel Archers, War Chariots, etc all get no ranged promotion benefit when they upgrade to Cavalry or Knights. Non-ranged promo's like march, logistics, medic, etc all still have effect though. Once you upgrade, you will see the new shock and drill promo's available, but you have to start from scratch.
Forgive me if anyone thinks I'm being rude; but with all the coverage Vladimir Putin is getting today I can't help noticing that Catherine has a considerably superior rack. She's no Maggie Thatcher that's for sure.
Then to be saved by Gandhi who for whatever reason has a ridiculously large military and decides to declare war at just the right moment. (For this one you would be second because this has actually happened to me.)
Amazing how you easily pronounce the Aztec cities
This start is beastly, things are looking up.
Fast growing cities with no happiness problems, good military and great potential on most cities (current and ones to take)
your commentary is brilliant; it's very instructive to hear your decision-making process!
28:10 - your unit list says you have a Scout sitting around Fortified... Where the heck is that lazy Scout hiding out, there's land to be explored!
That lazy bastard...
Marbozir Up in the icy north waiting to try to kill a spearman and take a worker as well as clear out a camp.

You again plz do what you did with in england in the comments.
Michał Brański Thank you! Unfortunately I don't have a lot of time right now to write up FanFics but I'm glad you enjoyed them. :)
Cheers, Ivan :D
great wall for Germany = ugh
It might be a bit quick to say but for your next Civ game you should play as the Inca on a Highlands map
omg....rush construction and get temple of artemis.....hmmm I would say pop 35 capital by turn 150? sounds about right. 50000000 food per turn :D

For sure swordsmen armies when well used can be amazing at taking cities, not to mention he's archers would need vision as well.

Oh shit, Attila has both the Statue of Zeus AND the Terracotta Army! He's gonna be pretty formidable for quite a while with that kind of firepower.
Marbozir when you get 35000 do a community stream
marbozir why did you not get the traditional Aztec gods. wouldn't that be more fitting.
How many hours do you have in Civ 5 ?
***** 1250 as of today.
The "baa" at the beginning was EPIC xD
"I want to finish that farm!"
...moves the worker to the gems on next turn
...moves the worker to other gems the turn after that
I would have made a run for Berlin as they have the Great Wall. This almost guarantees you won't lose a city in the near future...
wow, you're good at pronouncing the aztec city names! Many other youtubers wou;d of made a hash of it
Marbozir will probably be tech leader by turn 170. Btw, you should do some streams! It would be awesome to interact with you while your playing.
Great opener indeed.
amazing video marbozir thank you

ok wow i wish there was a world download cause this start is OP
What would be the fun of knowing you are going to win :/
Here's the save game (also posting it under part 1). marbozir.com/civ5saves/aztec-lp-save.zip

That Great Wall from Germany is a bit of an annoyance. :1 Oh well, guess you'll have to give him Jaguars to the face twice as hard for that!
to see an invisible road just do scroll in/scroll out with mousewheel or whatever else key
Thanks for the episode!
Your scout is still fortified on that hill to the north next to the cs
I'm noticing you always build mines on freshwater hills, even though you have Civil Service so making a farm instead would give 2 Food and 2 Hammers. Mine only gives 3 hammers, until you get the industrial tech?
Ur really good at this game, I have learned a lot, thanks :D
Thanks for the videos!
You sound like admiral general aladeen it's great
Hey Marbozir, why are guilds important when you aren't pursuing a tourism victory? I usually build them, but just when my capital/biggest city has ran out of buildings to build
Thanks all of you
Marbozir. Great vids as usual. Have you abandoned Webber to despair and starvation? I hope not. :p
Nah, it's just kind of on the back burner, I've been too busy to keep up with everything. I'll continue it.
You keep saying that you need to hurry to build Jaguars while you can but you will be able to build jaguars until musketman right? that's is pretty far away!

Haha.
Marbozir
which version u play?
i play fall patch version but i saw many diff at ur game play
plz if someone know that , plz answer me
I'm just curious how far do melee units still require iron, is it until rifleman or is it earlier? I can never remember lol.
Melee units require iron until Musketman.
@@KermitlaGrenouille_ no they dont, just get pikemen. you don't even have to go down the swordsman tech path.
can anyone please tell me word for word, what his intro is? I never understand it completely
Jaguar Carpet of Doom!
Just realized. The city state of Kiev and Russia in this game... seems almost historical.
Scout!
Marb I think you need more Jaguars
Can you please explain to me how XP upgrades work when changing a ranged unit to a melee unit such as drill, does it convert or are all the upgrades neglected

Darth Cosmic How about the transition between cavalry > landship?
Or are March and Repair simply the same promotion with different names?
Putrescineification
Exactly. March will carry over from cavalry to landship or lancer to anti-tank gun
why no range units yet
4/20 Work it
To buy so many titles you should be American! Maybe you should play the Shooshone next time?
How are you doing?
Germany with the great wall. Ugh.
Colombo desires investors
Colombo has iron and a gold quest
brightttt
Forgive me if anyone thinks I'm being rude; but with all the coverage Vladimir Putin is getting today I can't help noticing that Catherine has a considerably superior rack. She's no Maggie Thatcher that's for sure.
I love playing against Catherine just because of her history if her being the biggest hoe leader
lol
First!!!
***** And Atilla at the same time.
*****....time to rage quit the game
Bribed to do so by Napoleon
Then to be saved by Gandhi who for whatever reason has a ridiculously large military and decides to declare war at just the right moment. (For this one you would be second because this has actually happened to me.)
