I know many ranchers only want geldings but I love my mares! Mares are thinkers,! The herd is a matriarchal society for a reason!! Cora seems so calm and easy-going and should make you a great mount. Keep exposing her to new and differing sights and sounds so you make her as spook proof as possible so she reaches her full potential! I can see by your videos your horses are very well cared for just like your bison!! Keep the videos coming! We love them all!!!

I am so thrilled That you are doing over your pond too! I think it's a brilliant idea! I thought I recognized Daniel's skid! Since you are both doing over your ponds, perhaps you can help each other! It would be great to see! When I was a teenager, we moved to a house that had a pond with a waterfall. We had to clean the silt out of the pond every view years. So getting to watch Daniel working on his pond and you now working on your pond is bringing back great memories for me. Yes, even I got muddy from working on the pond, too, and I'm damn proud of it! I can't wait to see you get started on it, especially if Daniel is going to help you, and if you help Daniel with his. Dusty you need to make sure your pond has clay in it to keep it from leaking. You are on the right track in making it bigger and deeper. It's way to shallow. You also need to rule out that the bottom doesn't leak. Here in TX, hill country, all pond builders make sure there is clay to seal the bottom. Have your Natural Resourse Conservation Services come out and check it for you. I believe there is a natural product you can put in your pond to seal it if you don't have clay. Good luck. In TX the NRCS will pay half the cost of the pond if you are doing it for animals. Even if you just want it for fishing. They are important in the eco system. We've done on our farm. Keep ranchin'.

Here in Duncan, our last measurable amount of rain was June 22. It has rained around us but never on us since then. Davis/Sulphur is roughly 60 miles due east of us on Hwy 7. 😢😢😢

In the UK we get upset when they cut trees down , because they help to tackle flooding. They soak the water up.

All that scrub brush is important to get out. When you burn it, take some potatoes wrap in foil, tuck in the coals. Have a grand meal for all your helpers!

I felt fortunate to find a group to give my dad's daily clothes to. They help out a lot of guys so it was good to know they would be used.
Cubes automatic dispenser. So convenient. However , I fondly remember Dusty being the distributor and the bison especially the big guys coming up to get their cubes. ❤❤

I've built a few ponds in dry country. Mainly used a Cat and can. Trees help bring up water so that needs to be considered. Trees shade the water keeping temperatures lower and they are a windbreak to reduce evaporation. On the flip side, the roots can weaken a dam. Dig deep. The cooler the water stays, the less lost to evaporation. The more volume of water to surface area, the better.
You should get Mia a hitch step (if possible) to assist in that jump. I worry about her hips over time.

Hi Dusty and Melissa! "Betonite" is most likely your natural solution for sealing the bottom of your pond to reduced loss of water. In addition to final contour addition of Sodium Betonite product, I suggest further eradication of Snapping Turtles and the the guy you had come out was great! Betonite is used extensively in Cattle ranching where I gained experience in Arizona. Any replay is appreciated and cheers to you both and your wonderful family.

Dusty :You have to Dig your pond about 20’ plus Deep, install Two 3’ heavy Duty Plastic Tile dig out a foot in your Creek so you are Not stopping the Flow ,Take the Pond Dirt cover up your Tile you just laid. Now you have a Bridge to get on the other Side. The you made two covers for the Tile then you have Water to Fill you Pond. When some extra money comes around stop and Buy a Windmill to pump Oxygen into the Water. Don’t remove trees the could Shade your Pond.

Those cedars are actually scrub juniper bushes. They're not good for anything except choking out vegetation and sucking up water. Best to irraticate them because they're not native and very invasive.
