I think I have already done this on my little steam box but I forgot about the big picture mode and now I have so many games where I did not check if they have controller support which I can not play like Tomb Raider . Managed to add Streets of Rage Remake into Steam.. then using the controller setting in Big Picture to add turbo fire to the X and A for attack and jump and it works.. nice!! 👍

Question: On pc, the space bar, alt, shift are unasigned makeing them available for modifier's. If I select one of my buttons to be Space Bar for instanced. Can it be used as a modifer?

2 years ago i bought my computer, best one on the market at that time to play all games, and i bought a game which is not supported by controller though it is a controller game, i tried download other players controller settings i have tried myself i even consulted gaming pro's! And no ONE has managed to help me. And now i got so sick of waiting so i started the game and has been hitting my head against the wall because i want the controller to work, i even watched numerous videos on youtube and still NO LUCK!! And by chance i found your page and i thought let's try! And i did your way, i assigned the keybord buttons to the controller as i want them to be and *pull me backwards* it W O R K S!!!!! And it is smooth! I am stunned, absolutely stunned! Thank you so much :D , I will remember this, if the controller is not supported then go to steam big picture and game settings and set the schematics as the keyboard controls are on the controller. Truly sir now this game can finally be enjoyed fully! For reference the game is Samurai Warriors 4-II, which MANY players have trouble with their controllers.

Hey, I have a question regarding an issue I have. When playing 7 days to die I can only send 1 maybe 2 messages in global chat before I get the message I need to be in big picture mode to use on screen keyboard. I also get the same message when I try to save a waypoint as you have to name the way point. Is this something you have experienced or know what is wrong?
(If you have played minecraft console you prob know what i mean) I have a minor issue here, what i want to do is map the controller so that every time i hit L or R it goes through the hotbar (from 1 to 9 basically) the point is, i cant do it, and i kinda need help. Thanks in advance.

Daggerfall and Arena already have native controller support bro on Steam, you can click "Controller Layout" on the game in Steam library and then configure it or press "Browse Configs" at the bottom to use someone else's that's already popular or well made.

I got FEAR 2 on GOG and used steam cause someone had a configuration. The xbox one controller config worked for my PS4 controller, at least I think everything is working. Stupid that the game does not support gamepads natively.

I'm having a hard time with Oblivion, the controller just will not work.
You showed me exactly what I was looking for. (Other YTers showed it, but now how.) Too bad the community recommends circle on ps4 to be escape. This is all I was trying to change. Is this really how people play? Trying to play Satisfactory btw.
You can cycle through all the community configs but usually the top 1 or 2 are the best maintained or only decent configs ive found. The manual config editor is a little confusing so i just mostly use community configs, although i do use an xbox controller mostly.

If its on Steam then it should work, people have made configs for practically every game on Steam which you can find in the Steam library under "Controller Configurations" when you click on the game in your library from your list.

very helpful tutorial, but how did you get gta san andreas on steam?
I bought it years ago, its now unavailable since they dropped the "GTA Definitive Edition" with the remastered games, although they are yet to release those on Steam. Maybe you can still buy a GTA San Andreas CD key online on G2A or similar sites if you want to get the old version legally. If you want it to be more moddable and play multiplayer mods like SA:MP youll need to use a downgrader tool on the Steam version to put it back to version 1.0 as the original CD version was.
Do all games have list of community configs, ie only reason I have not tried New World is I have a lap top to using xbox controller is much easier for me. Be great there is easy to use configs i can select rather than doing myself

The only game I can think of that the controller support doesn't work for has to be Project Zomboid which is a shame because its a great game, I just don't like the Keyboard & Mouse thing
