Sadly I never got to drive over the original bridge but I drove over the new one for the first time in May 2023 and its like my favorite bridge now its pretty much a better version of the George Washington Bridge I mean they both cross the Hudson River. Oh and I still call it Tappan Zee Bridge and I'll probably call it like that forever lol.

if you're heading north, avoid it stay east until you get 90 miles north and cross the Hudson on the Newburgh-Beacon bridge
pick up the Thruway at exit 17
