DeArrow is also great for this. It replaces noisy thumbnails with more representative screenshots from the video itself, and also replaces sensationalist titles with less stress-inducing ones.

Wow! Can you tell me if it blocks the shorts too? Because I hate shorts. It was hard to tell from what your showed because there were no video lengths.
I hate those freaking things too. But no, it just blocks thumbnails. But if you click the x on the shorts tab, youtube will hide them for a couple months. There's also a different plugin that can hid them permanently called Unhook unhook.app/

Thank you for finding and sharing. It also blocks all the thumbnails that fill the player's screen after the video has finished.
