Definitely getting it. I've wanted more African factions from day one. Too bad we aren't getting the Garamantes, but the Masaesyli and Kush are both great choices.
much of what is northern africanus was a well ordered wheat field now reclaimed by desert.. the smaller enclaves lost a war of attrition and a few key battles to be assimilated into that Roman juggernaut. Carthage[Tunis] Wheat was immensely important in the Roman Empire, partly because it was almost the only staple. Barley/wheat as pay hence the Roman Meal-
My one gripe here is looking at the new desert factions just makes me think others still look incomplete. Galatian Legionaries are not nearly as good despite supposedly being the same damn idea. Silver Shield Swordsmen dont get testuto. Pontus should logically get a psudo legionary unit. Theres just alot of stuff that clearly needs more love and attention that we know for a fact modders wont ever do.
Hey Heir your video's are very insightful! I bought the Desert Kingdoms recently and its pretty damn fun it compares to the Tomb Kings in Warhammer (kind of reinvents the game a little for you). Only played as Kush so far but the new units feel very versatile. I liked your use of chariots into the flanks, I am not fond of using chariots normally but this has given me some new hope for them. I tend to use a balanced force without many heavy units relying on horse skirmishers and archers to dominate the enemy missile capability and destroy their general. I think I will test out the chariots more though now :)
Those desert legionaries are pretty good! The Seleucid should have similar infantry, after the battle of Magnesia the copied legionaries and its sad to that they aren't more competitive for multiplayer.
I believe the reason why the numidian cav is weak in the first place was because it was a unit since the base game and wasnt available to any faction besides the auxillary one for rome. So it probably makes sense that they didn’t adjust its stats as the game went on
He has every right to complain. That command should have been in the game from the start. I don't see why they were being lazy about it. What's so hard about implementing guard mode? While I am grateful to CA for adding it, it's rather late. Especially since the game is some years old and newer games in the series are already out.
This DLC feels like blatant power creep to factions that shouldn't be nearly as good as they are now to, I don't know, make people return to play Rome II with 4 new really strong if not OP(in certain ways) factions. There's just no way Numidia should be this much of a power hitter as they are right now.
Machcia I agree. And Kushite infantry going toe to toe with Veteran Legionaries? A practically no name faction conquering the world? Give us a break CA. I knew as soon as I heard it that this was Himyar's Chosen ALL FUCKING OVER AGAIN! CA if Numidia/Himyar/Kush HAD units this strong they would've fucking conquered the world and no effing incompetency on part of their own rulers could've stopped them.
True. but if you read between the lines, the entire point of what i said was that "history's warriors" should only be as strong as history makes them out to be. We have no records of such classes of heavy infantry existing, or of them just straight up beating armored juggernauts (of their time) in a straight up slugfest. I did not say that only Rome should be powerful. But if Himyar's fucking chosen were that powerful they would've annihilated the known world. Straight up infantry slogs were what the roman legionaries excelled at. The fact they lost so intermittently against the barbarians was because they were very often lead by incompetent fools. If by God's grace they had the likes of Aetius or Stilicho or Marjorian commanding them they were invariably assassinated. By Romans. A fully functioning Rome was a nightmare. It was a superpower. and to see its armies not just equaled but straight up beaten... The entire western culture is built on Rome- that is its legacy and glory. The entire West from Europe and the Americas, Australia etc owe much (not the majority, but much, at least 10-20 percent) to Rome. So... you still think that there was no smoke without fire? I am not criticising any position of yours bro, just want you to appreciate that few if any civilizations rivaled Rome in its heyday and his practice of CA introducing fucking OP cheese units like kush and Himyar's Chosen is a frank letdwon given that they can easily implement army mechanucs which let Kush/ Nabatea beat Rome without being straight up better. I repeat- Kush/Etc etc win only situationally. not as routinely as they did. and himyar's Chosen is just straight up pandering to the masses.
Two things; First the desert chariots seem to be like the Iceni chariots in that they view light infantry as a tasty snack, but have difficulties against anything beefier. Secondly, I feel that CA should have priced the dlc the same as the current price of the old culture packs, not the initial price of the old culture packs. Had they done this people would be considerably less cheesed off with them and as such they would sell more product. In the UK the desert pack normal price is £6.99 and the old packs are £5.99, so its not much of an ask.
idk if this is why they got so many kills but you chariots point blanked a bunch of guys in the face with javelins as the rode through on that one charge before you looked at the kills.
i really would like to play this but i don't like the UI, if it had maybe attila ui or even WH Ui i could get behind it, it is a fantastic game tho, i have watched many of your campaigns for this game
so you look at evolution of metallurgy and armour v a desert heat a roman tanks got a massive thing going on v nakked hoplite but get then in sand its harder to hold formation valuer in light forces to look at similar around you charging skirmishers those shock look sweet -is this Sparte? NO its PIKe-aDON!
@@noshtv8860 Mostly barbarian factions and iberian factions have ambush traits. Numidian factions have stealth units along with the britons(iceni). Although there are some factions with a few stealth units, but i think it is the nervii, numidia, iceni, arverni, and lusitani that have a lot of ambush based units.
Definitely getting it. I've wanted more African factions from day one. Too bad we aren't getting the Garamantes, but the Masaesyli and Kush are both great choices.
Those Numidian legionaries, look like they would give Carthage a run for their money. Keep doing more factions from this dlc.

I think Desert Legionnaires and Cohorts are supposed to be based on the "Imitation Legionnaires"
MAKE NUMIDIAN CAV GREAT AGAIN #HeirforPresident
#gorebull2020

Pls do another Rome 2 series. I miss watching them
I also
preordered it when announced, cant wait to get home from work and try it
I believe the reason why the numidian cav is weak in the first place was because it was a unit since the base game and wasnt available to any faction besides the auxillary one for rome. So it probably makes sense that they didn’t adjust its stats as the game went on
Hey Heir of Carthage, you gonna make a Nabataean video for the DLC? Please do!
Add in Sacred Band and this is what I wish Carthage would have been...
Guard mode should have been included in one of the numerous previous updates
So you are going to complain now that you did get it? Classic comment from the TW community.

Tim Harper I'm not so much complaining as pointing out the obvious
Guard Mode returns.... YAAAAY! No more squishy pike blocks
Can’t wait to use this faction against my friend! He absolutely hates my guerrilla warfare style when I play Carthage, barbarian tribes or Parthia.
Video for guriela style pls I want to learn it
no faction in rome 2 main campaign had an intro video Heir
great dlc well thought out, balances game. make it much harder too conquer Africa!

Jugurtha gave the Romans a real run for their money.
And the Kush force Rome to stay back.

Anirban Bhattacharya What this kind of logic, only rome should be playable.

Yes! Original Rome II soundtrack! Thumbs up!!!
Now thats another underdog faction
ROME TWO!? I must have died in my sleep. TY Heir.
Good morning Heir! And yet another GREAT video. Hey Heir which faction is your favorite from Rome 2 and Warhammer?
Carthage and High Elves
How come they don’t add the features form total war arena to Rome total war 2
Heir, I urge you to use your personal influence in the senate to get CA to make Rome 3!
Can’t believe you didn’t cover Saba faction lol
I'd pay 4.99 for this, considering I paid 8 dollars for some extra blood during death animations, I'd think that's pretty fair
8 dollars for blood and gore? What? They never charge more than $3 and its always on sale for like 99 cents.
Tim Harper Australia
I am in Sydney and buy it off steam and its 3 US dollars so like 4 max AUD
Tim Harper pretty sure I paid 6.99 let me check...
Yep I paid 6.99 for it :/
Love you bro. Lmao. Awesome vid per usual.
idk if this is why they got so many kills but you chariots point blanked a bunch of guys in the face with javelins as the rode through on that one charge before you looked at the kills.
i really would like to play this but i don't like the UI, if it had maybe attila ui or even WH Ui i could get behind it, it is a fantastic game tho, i have watched many of your campaigns for this game
will there be a campaign to come with a new faction? i do doubt it but dont ask dont get
What is the difference between guard mode and formation attack?
so you look at evolution of metallurgy and armour v a desert heat a roman tanks got a massive thing going on v nakked hoplite but get then in sand its harder to hold formation valuer in light forces to look at similar around you charging skirmishers those shock look sweet -is this Sparte? Are there really not new buildings for these factions?
Yup, probably other than the religious buildings. CA is lazy as hell when it comes to making new factions diversed.
They did a fairly nice job with Nabtea, Kush and Sabaen factions.
Hello Heir, you should play halo wars 2 it’s made by creative assembly and 343 industries
Vortex Soul I did :) I just haven't done much multiplayer or the DLC
He already has a letsplay of that on his chanel :D
What the crap is going on..
Bugs the crud outta me
Oh ok
Da Kush
Lol
First
Can’t wait to use this faction against my friend! He absolutely hates my guerrilla warfare style when I play Carthage, barbarian tribes or Parthia.
guerrilla? they have guerrilla deployment?
Marcus Mgodioso yups. Numidian riders can. Shock cav with that deployment is scary
I’m new to this game. What factions have guerilla deployment?
