This is SO accurate. You can tell who's new here too, because you see them running down the isles at Publix throwing multiple cases of water and toilet paper in their carts, like the apocalypse is about to Pop off. 😂 It's annoying, but also entertaining for those of us who were born and raised here. 🤣
OMG, too funny. I moved to FL 32 years ago and learned real fast that all the categories indicated was how many bottles of booze I needed to buy for the event! LOL gonna get lit
During Ian, hubby would put on his rain suit and go outside to see what was going on, OR he was going to the neighbor’s hurricane party and not telling me. 😂
I don’t live in Florida, but I’ve heard enough about its relationship to Australia that I can tell when Floridians make fun of themselves and all their weather and animal catastrophes ! Fun job, well done, (from the West Coast.) gets me laughing every time! 😅
When I moved to Florida from Hong Kong, during the first hurricane I asked "Is this a high enough level so we get a day off?" In Hong Kong we always had the day off when it was a Typhoon 8. The whole city would beg for typhoon 8 so we could all to the bars. Luckily had 4-5 a year.
“Cuz a hurricane party don’t stop” after 11 days of our street turning into one big camp site with glorified tents (houses) I was ready for it to stop lol. Hell we weren’t even sleeping inside. Everyone just slept on lawn chairs…. Grilled every meal. Drank a LOT OF FUCKING ALCOHOL. We also got drunk the night the power came on and I think our neighbor said he did too lol.
LMAO. I just heard 2 people from Michigan moved to the Panhandle, 2 blocks from the Gulf. They were told b/c their sidewalk sloped down, they werent in a flood zone. Then they had white tile & covered it w/ carpet and linoleum. Things that make ya go Hmmmm....
When the waffle house closes we head inland. Only tourists hang out on the coast during hurricane season. I've been here 76 years and nobody and no critter has died on my property. We prepare before the storm hits and when the rain starts, we party.
I’m a native Floridian and we always head straight for the beach before they close it down to see the crazy waves and wind. We also don’t prepare much of anything except making sure we have the candles out and lighters are working.
I have to admit. Ian did make me a little nervous. We took the eye wall for about seven hours. The plywood held good. I got scared when the tree that snapped in half blew down between the house and my neighbors fence. It almost hit my A/C unit!
That was me during Irma. Lol. I moved here from Indiana 2 years before Irma. I'd been through tornadoes, ice, floods, freezing rain & blizzards, but not a hurricane yet. The eye was supposed to hit between St. Pete and Tampa, but went over Polk, I think. I went to a friend's house that was hirricane ready and we lost power before dark. I went home the next day to Largo, just a few miles NW. We had not only power, but internet & cable. I also live on a bayou, so we're in a flood zone. No tree limbs came down either. Go figure!
omg I just found this channel this is so accurate for us florida folks 😂😂😂 I live n texas now and my hubby thanks I'm crazy when florida gets a storm and I be like damn I missed the best part 😭😭😭
@@Clarene24 To be fair... the rest of the country sees Florida as the toughest and weirdest region lol. And I'm a southerner we get mostly tornadoes. But we tip our hat to y'all Floridians
Maaaaan, i remember when i first moved to Jacksonville back in 2002, i was scared and excited over Hurricanes. 5 years later and not a one was anything more than the same old rain and wind i get in MI. Thankfully i got out. Couldn't take people who live in a state where it rains 5/7 days not being able to drive in said rain. lol
Also for the Cats 4 & 5: unless you're on the AL or GA borders, the time to leave was *two weeks before!* No way you're gettin' off this 450-mile sandbar 3 days before that mother!
Forget the National Weather Service Floridians take their weather advice from The Waffle House if a Waffle House closes you better get your ass out or board your ass up
Southerners that are land locked. Super cell just another day F1 no touch down. Just a little windy F2 touch down. Send the kids out to collect hail ice F3 invite friends for a tornado watching party F4 lock up the house huddle in the bathtub F5 finger of god And be prepared to meet him. During this your friend from Florida is crying cause he wants to go home cause hurricanes make much more sense.
Back when I was a kid and hurricane Ivan was hitting Port St. Lucie. I remember hanging out with my dad and the next-door neighbor in their garage, with the door open.. Just watching the wind blow, and listening to Bon Jovi and Rod Stewart on his HI-FI system.
This was too funny but so true. Here in north Florida people buy out the stores getting water, snacks, anything you don't need a fridge for. Very seldom where I work at closes down unless it's a strong storm cat 2 or stronger. Last year they closed early and pulled down the shutters day of. But we worked until the set time frame to leave early it was evening time. That was last year. We stayed home.
Just so y'all know, the essentials are alcohol and doritos. And if you think I'm fibbing, last time we went for essentials half the neighborhood was at the same liquor store. We didn't even bother with the Publix.
@@CheapsKate77 it was across the street but everyone was at the liquor store. But we did almost get locked inside the winn dixie getting snacks bc it was about 10pm and you know they don't have enough shits to give anyway
ok yeah i walked casually through the rain 🌧 not knowin anything bout fla cuz travelin, the wind almost blew me into the road hung on to traffic light..thought it was just a gust.
