    VRM's and Chokes on this board are high-end units found on many of the X299 boards, which is likely why it overclocked so easily. Have had one of these running 24/7 for almost 6 months now while doing game development modelings, and have had no issues whatsoever. Most stable board I have ever come across.

    Love the reviews. They're extremely helpful, but no one has done a comparison or even in depth review of the gaming 5. On the fence between the two, can't wait for your review of the 5. Thanks!

      I think the gaming 7 has better sound other than that they are the same. The Ultra and Gaming 3 are the sweet points in the Gigabyte range.

    I have this board and it has the most solid VRM. Its components are made by intersil and they are the most expensive smart power stages money can buy. $5.50 just for ISL99227B phases which are 60A along with 76A cooper bussmann chokes. though this is a 4+2 set up, it has ISL6617 phase doublers which have current balancing and temp monitoring. the ISL69138 is what's driving this board. I found this board for $150 along with a 8700K I got for $280, both open box. the 8700K I got, easily can hit 5.3Ghz stable at 1.350v. Now at 5GHz with 1.250v. it was also solid but, the great thing is the VRM. it never exceeded 60c. when at full stress.

    hmmm Logan, Can you do a review for the Aorus z370 Gaming 5 board? I cant find any at all.

    • @marcustaylor670

      Gaming 3 will be a better board, I have the gaming 7 and in terms of performance and useability it's well overpriced. RMA ing next week, ordered an Asus Apex to replace.
      This does have a 5ghz profile that works well but so do all the cheaper Gigabyte boards.
      The XMP profiles don't work on high end fast memory and the little fan (which runs full time on stock settings) is a waste of time. There is nothing this board will do that a £120 Asus Prime or a Gaming 3 or Ultra won't do for a lot less money.
      The bios is terrible, not only are the menu's laid out terribly, the voltage for your memory is always under what you set which caused me loads of instability problems until I worked it out. Also if you get the settings wrong and have to reset it sometimes wipes your saved bios profiles, they do return after a few more resets at random but is really frustrating when chasing an overclock. If you can get one for £160 or less then worth a look, anymore then definately get something else.

    Asus Maximus X was 20€ more expensive in Germany than the Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 7, I experienced stability through the years with Gigabyte compared to other brands, so I'll stick with Gigabyte when it comes to Motherboards.

    • @crashniels
      @crashniels 6 лет назад

      ich ja wenn ich mir das mainboard kaufe. benutze zur zeit das z77x-d3h v1 und da benutze ich auch den onboard sound chip. Wenn ich mir später studio headset kaufen möchte hole ich mir lieber ein DAC-Amp als eine pcie soundkarte, da es bei dem mainboard manchmal zum rauschen kommt, wenn ich etwas anschließe oder so

    • @2Syndras1Cup
      @2Syndras1Cup 6 лет назад

      Also Ich verstehe immernoch nicht den Grund der Frage ob Ich on-board sound nutze, aber nein, Ich benutze ein USB Headset von Turtle Beach.
      Es ist ein Z60, welches Ich gekauft habe, nachdem mein EarForce Z7 kaputt ging (nach 3 Jahren), Ich verwende es, weil es sau guten Bass hat und generell eine vernünftige Audio/gaming Qualität hat.
      Habe auch ein z77x, aber ein ud3h rev. 1.2.
      Meine Anlage sollte aber einen guten jump nach oben machen was Qualität betrifft mit dem neuen Board, die benutzt nämlich den on-board Sound.
      Die meisten Boards sollten mittlerweile auf dem Niveau einer guten 40€ Soundkarte sein.

    • @PinkasBrown44
      @PinkasBrown44 6 лет назад +1

      Der Grund, weshalb ich gefragt habe, ob du on-board sound benutzt, ist weil, die Gigabyte Gaming 7 Mainboards, seit bereits mehreren Generationen, eine On-board Qualität bieten, die der Konkurrenz überlegen ist. Aber nur die Gaming 7. Die Einfacheren Boards haben etwas, dass ´nur´ dem Supreme FX Sound von Asus ebenbürtig ist. Wer sowieso eine hochwertige DAC Soundkarte installiert oder Headphone mit eingebauter Soundkarte benutzt, sollte das im Hinterkopf behalten.
      Gigabyte hat schon seit langem eine Zusammenarbeit mit Creative Labs. Wer so ein eine Motherboard kauft, braucht zum Beispiel nicht eine Sound Blaster Z Karte zu kaufen. In Wirklichkeit sind Asus Hero Boards also teurer, weil sie nur 0815 Sound bieten, aber nicht billiger sind als Gaming 7 Boards. Du kannst den Unterschied visuell feststellen. Asus Hero hat nur diesen kleinen Chip mit dem Supreme FX Logo drauf , während Gigabyte Gaming 7 wesentlich komplexer, bzw. grösser ist, wie eine intergrierte Soundkarte eben.

    I saw this on overclockers with an identical price to the hero at £259. Did Gigabyte give you the recommended price of £270 odd? Perhaps they mixed it up with the Wi-Fi AC version price. Pretty sure I saw online that both of these boards have Wi-Fi skus perhaps coming out a bit later.

    Just bought this exact mobo for $121 U.S. at local PC store open box. Got the 8600k for $189 U.S. open box at the same time. So for under $350 U.S. and bios F10 release last month this is a beast of a bargain! Sold my current mobo and cpu and this cost me $0 to upgrade. Which is why I didnt go for 8700k or 9700k.

    Did you make sure the uncore clock was the same across all the boards?
    Hardware.fr showed that it had a measurable effect on performance.
    Looking at your other articles, MSI boosted it to 4.3 GHz, ASUS to 4.4 GHz, but the Gigabyte BIOS left it at 3.7 GHz (stock).

    • @_exilon_

      Also, would probably explain why this board could push the core clock higher. Less stress on the core b/c the stock memory subsystem could not keep up at >5GHz

      @Markinpuff 6 лет назад

      TheSpiikki Thanks, I just about have all the pieces, except for that darn pricey GPU, still looking at options. Yes, I would love a 1080ti, but do I need it?
      Using the build for VR and productivity. As well as my sons gaming rig, he doesn’t play AAA games yet. I really didn’t want any liquid cooling options of any kind, (Bad Story’s) so I went with a MasterAir Maker 8, which should do the job, I hope. It wasn’t cheap. Went nuts on ram 32gb Corsair Vengeance RGB ddr 3200c16, evga supernova 850g3, it might power my air conditioner lol.
      Went crazy looking for a case that would cover all bases in compatibility, so CoolerMaster MasterCase Pro 5 it is. Using a Samsung 500gb nvme as the boot drive, that’s going to be fun configuring that. And 500gb Samsung 850 evo SSD as well as a 4 tb black wd basic storage HD. I have a really nice sound card, but I don’t think I need it, why take up the lanes.
      So, any suggestions on GPU’s would be great. I want the MSI beast, but will have to use the onboard video until funds are breathing again..
      I did use pcpartspicker, what a great tool, love it. If you would like the link to the build let me know.

    • @TheSpiikki
      @TheSpiikki 6 лет назад

      Markinpuff i went all out with GPU's 2x Aorus 1080ti Xtreme editions, x62 kraken as cpu cooling and 16gb of ram for now.

    • @Markinpuff
      @Markinpuff 6 лет назад

      TheSpiikki I was hoping to stay away from those liquid cooling options, but I have a case that will accommodate it, if necessary down the road. I don’t think I’m going to use 2 GPU’s lol, your a gamer, big time. I’ll look at getting one of those GPU’s If has no compatibility problems and meets my empty wallet, I could have shopped and waited for sales , but I did get some great buys. I purchased the CPU for 70$ off, that was sweet, so I’ll probably sit back and wait for the 1090’s to come out and pick up a 1080ti for a normal price. Any Idea why memory is o expensive these days? Did they run out of sand? What a conspiracy. Thanks for the feedback.

    "other than the lights that are on the board, i'm not exactly sure what it's bringing to the table"
    What about the VRMs? It has among the best power delivery for any Z370 motherboard. But I get what you're saying in terms of its feature set!

    • @marcustaylor670
      @marcustaylor670 6 лет назад

      Power delivery is useless though with a crap bios which can't take advantage of it. Also useless at getting the best out of high end memory compared to my older Z270 Apex board. Not to mention the bios wipes my saved profiles sometimes. One of the worst boards I've ever owned, severely overpriced.
      RMA on monday, ordered a Z370 Apex.

    NEED ADVICE: I am working on building a new PC for work and gaming. I use Photoshop a lot for my business ads and webpages. But love gaming too…
    I would like to stay in 1080p upgrading 144htz g-sync monitor avoiding Gtx1080' madness prices. I am not into overclocking.
    Actually I7 930 2.8 Ghtz, original air cooler.
    Gigabyte X58 UDR3 Gtx 550 ti (Lowering from 1920x1080p to 1270x720p and still gaming)
    (You may Lol!)
    12g Ddr3 triple channel nb frequency 2131.7mhz
    ViewSonic VA2323wm (1080p 60htz)
    Wondering if it still go for a while with a Gtx 1060 3g or 6g ok with this?
    (Keeping after build, have served well) Having feelings for this (once) good old hardware.
    What do you think for this new building? (Would be my first one)
    Intel - Core i7-8700 EVGA - CLC 240 Liquid Cooler (Would the 120 work?)
    Gigabyte - Z370 AORUS Gaming 5 (I like its rgb and sound)
    G.Skill - Trident Z RGB 16GB (2 x 8GB) at 3200
    Samsung - 860 Evo 1TB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive
    EVGA - GeForce GTX 1070 Ti 8GB SC GAMING
    Phanteks - Eclipse P350X
    EVGA - SuperNOVA G3 750W 80+ Gold
    Samsung C27FG70 27” Curved Quantum Dot 1ms (MPRT) 144hz sRGB
    The monitor For Gaming and Photoshop would be great, Never had an AMD GPU I could benefit from Freesync, I trust and like Nvidia because I don't know much about AMD Gpus and gsync monitors are expensive if you look for IPS or better for Photoshop.
    I wouldn’t mind the video sync feature (never had it) but what do you thing about this next new build in general?

    Yes its more expensive than the Hero and yes its probably an early BIOS that's causing the performance issues , but with this Gaming 7 you do get £40 worth of steam vouchers. After getting this board I can see what you mean. The voltage droop is ok now with the latest bios but the the auto and XMP settings are shit. Had do everything manually or it would either not up the clock or it would be with too high vcore and heat. It's an alright board if you know what you're doing but I expect better from asus. If someone doesn't know what they're doing they're not going to get everything out of this board, or they'll be running it hotter than needed.

      Memory voltage is always lower than what you enter, once I worked that out I got on better. Not had a problem with temps but RMA'ing anyway as it's not worth the £230 I paid for it.

    Probably one of the sexiest LED-friendly Mobo's that goes for under $250. It's so coooool! I'm barely upgrading in a couple of months though to a whole new MOBO but I want to wait for the 9700K cause I've gotten so hyped up on the rumor that Intel might make 8 Cores on their mainstream CPU's this year! Can you help me decide? Do I wait for it or do I get the 8700K and this Mobo? If I wait, I just want the 9700K to be compatible with this mobo or for Gigabyte to just bring out another one that looks almost exactly the same but for the 9700K.

      If it's not overclocked you can overclock it if it gets a bit slow. I'd stick with it if you don't need an upgrade.

    Hello! I want to buy GIGABYTE AORUS Z370 Gaming 7. But as I understand, this motherboard does not support all kinds of DDR4. I now want to buy one set of these two:
    1. Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro Weiß 16GB DDR4 Kit (CMW16GX4M2C3000C15W).
    2. Corsair Vengeance RGB 16GB DDR4 Kit weiß 3600 CL18 (2x8GB) (CMW16GX4M2C3600C18W).

    • @TheDukeOfZill
      @TheDukeOfZill 4 года назад

      It will support up to 9900k, so long as you're on BIOS F13 (I personally avoiding going any further than this because the meltdown/spectre microcode updates hinder performance by a large percent and no one in a realistic sense has ever been affected by it). If you experience any thermal issues with the VRM, you may need to add thicker jelly pads that are usually under the heatsink because they aren't making full contact (a rare issue on some boards).
